A loud metallic sound rang right beside Lee's ears. The loud collision caused his ears to feel a sharp pain, causing him to reflexively place his hand on both of his ears as he squints his eyes.
'I'm saved…?'
Lee gradually opened his eyes to see his savior. Two blades of unequal size stood at a standstill in front of his face. He recognizes both of the blades and its owner.
"Oi! How long are you going to lie there?"
Jake felt his grip on his sword weakened. Although he could somehow stop the attack, it doesn't seem like he could hold on much longer. He needed to parry the strike to continue with the fight.
"Jake!"
Lee moved his wounded body out of the way for Jake to fight. After he did so, Jake could finally parry the strike.
The Groglod Knight stared at Jake in rage for disturbing the execution. It lets out a small unrecognized cry before heading towards Jake. Never did it imagine that it was the most foolish action to take.
Jake took on an Iai stance as he watches the rushing Groglod with a cool head. His eyes stared at the ground as if waiting for something.
The moment the Groglod Knight came into his attack range, Jake moved. The slash was too fast for Lee to see with his naked eyes. All he could see was Jake sheathing his katana back into its sheath.
The next thing that happened left him completely baffled. The sturdy body of the Groglod Knight slid off in one clean line before slumping down the ground.
[Ding… You have performed the skill <Iai: Sword Draw>]

An 'Iai' technique where the user concentrated on a single point and pushed his body's speed to its limit. The speed of the sword will depend on the user's technique, speed, and precision.
Jake's attack didn't stop there. His eyes turned red due to the anger he felt. The anger was directed towards himself when he saw Lee in his current state. He almost repeated a grave mistake.
The remaining Groglods possessed no threat towards the current Jake. It was as if he was possessed by the death god. All the Groglod could see was a flash of light before losing their head.
The fight ended with Jake stopping beside Lee. He had a ragged breath as his body shivered due to overusing its muscle. At some point in the battle, Lee lost consciousness due to excessive blood loss and pain.
However, he overcame those pain and kneel beside Lee. He hurriedly took out another <Basic Elixir> to cure Lee's wound. Fortunately, Lee managed to avoid any fatal injuries. A good rest after the consumption would be enough to recover his body.
Lexi and the last survivor of the party stared at Jake in shock and awe. At first, they raised their guards at the frightening appearance of the death god.
"Excuse me, who are you?"
From Jake's action, Lexi could come up with a conclusion that Jake is Lee's friends but nothing more.
Jake turned around and glance at Lexi. He came to a sudden realization as he saw a magic staff on Lexi's hand.
"You are Ms. Lexi, right? Samuel and the others should arrive here shortly."
Not long after Jake's statement, approaching footsteps were heard in a distance.
"Lexi! Jake!"
Every single member of the arriving party had their eyes glued towards the great number of corpse-littered on the ground. The sight of a human's corpse especially caused some of their face to turn sour.
"Samuel! Cole! You're safe!"
"Hahaha… We luckily encountered Mr. Jake there. Otherwise, we might be dead by now."
Lexi finally knew Jake's name and by Samuel's words, the estimation of Jake's strength and personality. She lowered more of her guard as she acknowledges that Jake didn't have any intention of causing harm towards her.
"Jake, is Lee alright?"
Kana held both of her hands to cover her mouth as a hint of tears appeared in her eyes. The fact that she could sense Lee's breathing and Jake's calm face managed to prevent her from crying out loud.
Roger also had a bitter expression on his face. Lee was the first person Roger knew after he got into Jake's guild. It was his first time having traveled with a party and naturally, the first time having his party member injured. The remorse he felt and frustration was not a great feeling.
"He's alright. The monster didn't strike his vital but the injury is a bit deep. It might take him a whole night to recover even if I gave him more elixir."
Kana and Roger's eyes turned wide at Jake's remarks. Both of them had no idea about Jake's <Miracle Elixir>, which could actually help Lee recover in just a night's rest.
Jake never told them about the <Basic Elixir> and naturally, didn't have them in the shop. Kana and Roger never thought that Jake would still have more of those <Miracle Elixir>.
The <Basic Elixir> was an expensive recipe Jake bought from the system's store. It cost him most of the money he got from the shop's sale to make just 5 of them.
The potion's recipe hasn't been discovered on Earth as of now. It was the reason for Jake's decision to not sell them yet. He would do so after he acquires enough power to defend his shop.
"That's great. But shouldn't we move? I'm afraid that those monster would discover this place if we loiter around here."
"I agree. We should remain calm and move away from this position. Those monsters are very intelligent."
Kana and Roger voiced out their opinion after discovering Lee's condition. It seems their thinking had not gone awry even after what they've seen. It is a good thing.
Jake nodded and lifted up Lee's unconscious body into a piggyback ride. He told the others to move with the reason that the monster might come and attack.
Of course, Jake didn't forget to loot the corpse. Kana and Roger were already on that job along with the other hunters.
The party headed on a bit deeper in the path before reaching a dead end.
"Let's set up a small camp here. We need to prepare for the huge battle ahead."
"Huh? Why here? Let's find somewhere else. We can't escape if the monster came after us!"
The middle-aged man, who was once a part of Lee and Lexi's party voiced out. There are many who agreed with the man's words as they nodded unconsciously. However, there are some who didn't quite agree and send him a weird glance. They were the three strongest people beside Jake's party, Lexi, Samuel, and Cole.
"That's exactly why. If it's a dead end, then we could just worry about the attack in one direction."
The party was struck with a sudden realization. They didn't forget about what caused them to almost get killed.
Jake was referring to any potential ambush that might be performed by the Groglods.
There was no more dispute after that. The hunters began to set up their own camp. The camp was soon completed using a small bonfire as the center.
Lee was placed inside one of the camps to rest. He hasn't regained his consciousness even until now. Jake, Kana, and Roger decided to take turns looking after Lee.
It was currently Jake's turn to guard Lee.
