Upon hearing Joshua’s murmurs that seemed like he was talking to himself, Imperial Prince Tasuku gasped and touched his right earring. He ordered Hattori to search the Empire’s ships because his right earring, the magic sensor tool that the Imperial Family always wore on their body, reacted.
He hadn’t told Joshua about his magic sensor and how it had reacted. Despite that, Joshua’s guess had hit the nail on the head. It started to puzzle him whether Joshua was truly just a merchant.
“Those ships. Have magical powers. Magic traces, confirmed.”
Miguel replied to Joshua’s guess on behalf of Imperial Prince Tasuku, who had turned speechless.
“Oh? Magic? Fufufufufu. Now that’s good news.”
Joshua laughed evilly upon hearing, of all things, the information from Miguel that there were traces of magic. Normally, it wouldn’t even be weird for people to be at a loss after hearing such news.
Imperial Prince Tasuku, Miguel, Hattori, and Momochi couldn’t understand Joshua and his train of thought.
Magic wasn’t just convenient. It was also very dangerous.
The Imperial Japanese present was all puzzled why Joshua looked this happy when the Kingdom was about to be attacked by the Empire.
“There are traces of magic… which means there is at least one magician on those ships…”
Joshua’s POV
Now that magic stones were running out all over the world, it was hard to imagine a country would consume magic stones in large numbers to attack another country. Because the purpose of their attack was to obtain magic stones.
They would probably not use magic stones to extend their artilleries’ shooting distance.
Magic stones were consumables.
It would be gone if used.
An adequate amount of magic stones would be necessary to extend the flight distance of artillery shells for many kilometers. Magic stones were not an easy-to-obtain item to prepare for that.
In other words, you could easily tell that it would be better to bring magicians, who certainly existed in the Empire in numbers, rather than using the cost-wise valuable magic stones.
That’s right. Magicians were in those ships.
Magicians, whom the Kingdom had waited for a long time, wished desperately and craved for.
“This means that crisis and chance are two sides of the same coin, huh?”
The barrier stretched across the Kingdom would eventually collapse if things were to continue as they were.
Without the barrier, humans couldn’t survive.
That barrier couldn’t be made without both magicians and magic stones present.
That’s right. This was a crisis for the Kingdom but also a chance.
I took out a handkerchief from my pocket and scribbled on this super-luxurious Emma Silk handkerchief that would be impossible to have if I weren’t the son of the head of the Rothschild Company.
Merchants carried papers and a pen with them all the time to draw up contracts. But to make sure ‘they’ read my message, it would be better to write on this handkerchief than on paper. All the more so for that person who understood the value of this Emma Silk.
“Hue, give this to the Royal Concubine, Rose-sama, in the Royal Castle ASAP. Ah… Can you also drop by House Stuart and deliver the dresses tailored for Rose-sama?
