Duke Gaston had lit up a fire only minutes after attempting to do so, though she should've expected that it wouldn't be hard for him to light up a fire since he was a general, and armies would often have to stay in forests and such during the night time just in case.

"Are you alright?"

Lady Melissa asked, although she hadn't seen any major injuries on the man's bodies, she wasn't completely sure whether he was alright, for all she knew he could even have a scar on his back.

"Don't worry about me Lady Melissa, I'm fine."

Duke Gaston said, as he sent her a reassuring smile, Lady Melissa sending a smile back to him- as she nodded her head silently. Silence started to fill the room, though it wasn't an uncomfortable one.

It was more of a comfortable one, Lady Melissa's body was practically freezing due to the cold temperature, as she leaned in closer to the fire, whilst Duke Gaston was in front of her, closing his eyes.

The man looked peaceful, as if he was a piece of art- a part of a painting, at least for Lady Melissa, though she'd never even admit it, her pride would never allow her to even do such a thing.

As if on cue, Duke Gaston opened his eyes, as he started to approach Lady Melissa closer and closer, before taking a seat beside her, his legs spread as he leaned his head backwards to the wall.

"Can't sleep?"

Lady Melissa asked, as the Duke silently responded with a yes, too tired with today's events to talk much.

"Ah I experience that a lot too."

Lady Melissa said, as Duke Gaston opened his eyes once more- this time the curiosity made him not sleepy anymore, as he had numerous questions to ask the woman. The first one being how she didn't have any eyebags.

"How often can't you sleep?"

Duke Gaston asked, his tone laced with curiosity as the question filled his head- wondering just how often the woman beside him couldn't be able to sleep, perhaps her answers would keep surprising him.

"It's honestly really messed up, and most of the days I don't even get any sleep, and the longest I've gone without it is 3-4 days? Though luckily for me, I don't face the side effects of not getting any sleep, thankfully."

Lady Melissa said, talking about how messed up her sleep schedule was, and that she was lucky not to face the side effects of not getting any sleep, after all she had heard countless stories and rumors about people not getting any sleep and how bad it would be,

"Ahh, one of my soldiers doesn't face any of the side effects of not getting any sleep either, though it's very obvious that he doesn't get any sleep because of the eye bags under his eyes. How do you not have any eye bags though?"

Duke Gaston asked Lady Melissa, hoping that the question hadn't come off as rude as he was genuinely wondering how the woman beside him had practically no eyebags at all, and even if there were eye bags, they were too little to be visible.

"I used to have a lot of eye bags under my eyes when this would first happen, and I would often use items to conceal the eye bags under my eyes. However, these past few weeks I don't really have any eye bags anymore, so I can't really say any sort of reason why I don't have eye bags, or many of them at least."

"Ahh I see."

Duke Gaston replied silently, as Lady Melissa nodded her head, her body shivering at how cold it was.

The action didn't go unnoticed by Duke Gaston- instead he had been observing her these past few minutes or so.

"Are you cold?"

Duke Gaston asked, as Lady Melissa shaked her head- denying it even though she was obviously cold with how her body was shaking.

"Come here."

Duke Gaston said, sighing as he motioned for Lady Melissa to come closer to him.

"No- I'm fine, really you don't have to."

Lady Melissa said, as Duke Gaston let out a sigh, insisting over and over again for her to come closer to him, or else he would be the one to come closer to her.

Lady Melissa eventually got persuaded to come closer to Duke Gaston, not wanting to be any sort of inconvenience to him if he had to come to her.

"Come closer."

Duke Gaston said, even though Lady Melissa's body was already touching his.

"Closer."

Duke Gaston said, repeating his words as Lady Melissa came closer and closer to him- until she could hear his heavy breathing, and he could hear hers.

"I'll warm you up."

Duke Gaston said, a mischievous smirk in his eyes.

"Wait- no-"

Lady Melissa said, closing her eyes as her face was flushed with embarrassment, and on what was going to come next.

Before she slowly opened her eyes, seeing Duke Gaston still in the same position from earlier.

"What do you mean wait no? I was planning to warm you up by holding each other's hands, unless you're against the idea of course."

Duke Gaston said, his tone filled with playfulness as Lady Melissa tempted the urge to roll her eyes at him- though she was very much embarrassed.

The man knew his words, and he definitely understood what he was trying to do to her with them, but he was acting like he didn't have a single clue about it, which obviously irritated Lady Melissa.

"I guess...we can hold hands."

Lady Melissa said, not even facing  Duke Gaston's direction as she was admittedly still embarrassed for earlier incidents.

Duke Gaston slowly brought his left hand, closer and closer to Lady Melisa's right hand,  before eventually they were touching each other.

Lady Melissa felt a spark, as so did Duke Gaston, though neither of them showed it, and neither one of them talked about it.
