Even though Duke Alphonso had promised Lady Melissa that he and his guards were going to go back to the Peagler estate, there was always the chance that Duke Alphonso was lying to her and that he didn't go back to the Peagler estate.
There was also a chance that even with Duke Alphonso gone, perhaps maybe some sort of other danger would happen and it would be like typical, revolving around Lady Melissa, and seeing how off things have been today than any other week, she'd rather take more precautions than to regret it in the future.
Besides, as the saying goes 'It's better to be safe than sorry' she agreed with the saying since she'd rather be overdramatic and take more precautions than needed than suffer serious injuries and regret the fact that she didn't take a lot of precautions if anything had happened to her.
Within a few minutes, Justin was back, this time with another bodyguard beside him, it was none other than Noel that she'd be having to pay extra for, he was probably the only one available since Justin disliked Noel's extroverted personality.
Justin was quiet, while Noel was loud, in addition to that, Lady Melissa felt like Justin had at least a clue or some suspicions about Noel's feelings for Sophia considering the way that Noel would often look at the maid.
"I need the two of you to be on guard today, also alert the other guards that starting right now, till the next 2 days, two of you will guard me every shift, and tell them that I'll pay them extra too in case they complain."
Lady Melissa said as she looked through her window, no sort of expression on her face.
"Now, I'm expecting the both of you to be on full alert from now on, from this shift to the next two days, the two of you will always be on your guard, you will be alert, ready and fast when I tell you to do something."
"Neither of you will annoy me with any sort of stupid questions, and I won't reply to any questions either, remember, I am the BOSS and the two of you are my employees, now, if anything happens to me, all of the guards SHOULD and WILL try their absolute best to find me, do you understand me?"
Lady Melissa said, her voice booming throughout the room as Justin and Noel momentarily glanced at each other before the two of them quickly nodded their heads in agreement to Lady Melissa's question.
"Do you understand me?"
Lady Melissa asked, repeating her question from earlier, she didn't get any sort of verbal agreement from her guards, only getting a physical agreement, and she didn't ask for a physical agreement.
"Yes."
Justin and Noel quickly replied in sync with each other, as they didn't want to get scolded by their mistress for the second time again.
"Good, now the both of you can stand over there and leave me alone, if any one of you makes a conversation with one another or disturbs me in any way if it's not because of something important, the both of you will be fired."
Lady Melissa said before she sat down and tried to think of a way how to get away with assassinating Duke Gaston.
After a few glasses of coffee and tea, which was probably not the best combo for her to drink together, Lady Melissa still hadn't figured out an idea, as she suddenly remembered that she had asked her guards to pick something up for her earlier.
"Did the both of you get what I told you to get earlier? And did the other bodyguards listen to my orders and get what I told them to as well?"
Lady Melissa sternly asked, her voice echoing throughout the room breaking the comfortable silence that was shared just a few minutes prior to this as Justin and Noel slowly nodded their heads, before Noel quickly replied to Lady Melissa's question, not wanting to anger his mistress even more.
"I've gotten a few of the materials you've asked me to, some of the other guards have gotten what you requested too, however, some of them are at a few marketplaces to get what you requested, I'm not sure whether Justin has collected what you asked though Lady Melissa."
Noel quickly replied, as Justin quickly shot the man a look in annoyment, seriously, he didn't have to include the last part- heck he could've just not even mentioned Justin's name at all in the first place.
"Justin, did you or did you not get what I've ordered you to get?"
Lady Melissa asked as Justin was nervous to answer her question, since ever since Lady Melissa had ordered that to the bodyguards- it had been his shift the entire time, until now, and he hadn't had any time to buy what she had requested him to get.
"I apologize for my carelessness Lady Melissa, however, I didn't have enough time to buy the materials that you requested since I was busy guarding you all day long from the morning until now."
Justin said, as he proceeded to profusely apologize to Lady Melissa, the woman saying nothing in response for the next minute or so, which only increased Justin's anxiety on what was going to happen to him.
"Justin, I'm excusing you this time, once your shift is over, I expect you to bring back the materials I ordered for you to buy in an hour, if you take up more than an hour, I will fire you. Do you understand me?"
Lady Melissa asked Justin, though her question sounded more like an order than a question, it was as if she demanded an answer, not like Justin was given a choice to answer her question or not.
"I understand Lady Melissa."
Justin said, as he nodded his head, maintaining his composure throughout the entirety of the conversation that he had just shared with Lady Melissa, keeping his cool as he could've sworn he could see Noel had a disappointed look on his face, though in just a few seconds that disappointed look was gone as if it was never even there in the first place.
