Chapter 5: Self-conscious

There were eyes everywhere in Prince Li’s manor, it didn’t take long for Chu Xuanchen to receive the reports about the Consort’s suicidal attempt at the lake and she miraculously survived. He wasn’t sure whether to believe it or not, so he decided to go over to Scarlet Moon Pavilion to seek the answer.

As she gave out the orders, he recognized her voice instantly, a cool light burned within his eyes, it’s true that she was still alive.

His mood fired up as he said “Yun Ruoyue, this prince is here to warn you. Tomorrow is my wedding day and you are ordered to be confined here in the Scarlet Moon Pavilion. If this prince catches you causing troubles for me, you pay for it!”

She immediately responded, “Your Highness doesn’t have to worry, this princess wouldn’t want to cause any troubles.” She sneered.

Why would she bother to trouble his life, all she really wants is to destroy his life.

She wants him to pay back his wrongdoing; she won’t let him go or allow him to lead a blissful life with Nangong Rou.

As long as she still breathes, it’s her obligation to uphold the Prince Li’s Consort’s duties, including fending off any women who desire to barge in to shake or threaten her position. She couldn’t tolerate a Concubine stepping over the line to dictate her life.

At this point of time, she was merely a weak woman has to survive alone in this new world. She has to make herself strong in the shortest time possible, to control things and people according to her wish. If she let it fall apart, the consequences will be her life, then history will repeat itself.

Yun Ruoyue glanced through the wooden door to see the figure standing outside her chamber. Although she has the original Yun Ruoyue’s memory, unfortunately it was just a vague collection of memories.

For her to take a better look at him, Yun Ruoyue stepped closer behind the door with her assessing eyes raking him up and down.

That man had a sturdy, muscular physique. He was tall as a pine tree, showing off his broad shoulders to signify his confidence. He wore a black brocade clothes matching a gold coloured waistband embedded with Jade and jewels. The raven black hair was combed up neatly to the top, fastened with a white Jade crown. He possessed a leonine power, authority, the whole body emitting a princely aura.

It appeared that her first impression of him was beyond what she could imagine. This Chu Xuanchen apparently was a domineering and arrogant man.

She lifted her eyes and looked at his face. He had a beautiful visage, more handsome than any superstars she had seen in the modern time. His facial features were sharp and refined like a masterpiece carved by a craftsman. He had straight and masculine eyebrows with hooded eyes. His heart-shaped face carried a tall high bridge nose and thin cherry lips.

A pair of deep dark eyes were staring straight to her chamber, when Yun Ruoyue looked into his eyes, she was shocked. She felt that he could see her as if his sight could penetrate through the door. Those intimidating eyes, he was a dangerous man, not a single living man on the earth would want to provoke him.

“Good then. You are rather self-conscious. Don’t forget what you have said, otherwise, this prince will skin you alive.” He smirked.

Yun Ruoyue’s eyes narrowed slightly. “Your Highness, it’s already late at night. If Your Highness does not intend to leave. How about coming in for a cup of tea?” Yun Ruoyue said coldly. She was running out of patience and had enough with his threatening.

“You would think this prince wants to stay here? In your dreams! Don’t you try to sweet-talk, that doesn’t work on me. He screwed up his face and turned to Mo Li. “Mo Li, let’s go.”

He flourished his sleeves and hastily left the scene. Mo Li, the head of guards, followed in his footsteps as they walked out the pavilion.

Yun Ruouye stared at his departing back with a frown and sighed with mockery. “A dog face with a blunt attitude, he surely churned up my stomach.”

As soon as she finished the sentence, Feng’er opened the door and stepped inside the room hurriedly with a disbelieving expression. “Why didn’t Your Ladyship keep His Highness to stay? Didn’t you love him very much? and ironically said he was distasteful and churned up your stomach.”

Yun Ruoyue remained cool, “That was me before I fell into the water, and now I have changed my mind. Why should I waste my love on a man who doesn’t cherish me, I might as well I love myself.” She explained in a calm voice.

Feng’er chuckled and she gave her a thumbs up. “It’s really good to know Your Ladyship has gotten over it. This humble one was worried that you might have reckless thoughts and do something to hurt yourself again. After what Your Ladyship said, this humble one feels much better now.”

“Do not worry. You have been through the hardest time with me and when I got into trouble, it was you who stayed beside me. As long as we are together, I certainly won’t let anyone touch you.” She smiled with a twinkle in her eye.

Feng’er nodded and her eyes immediately reddened.
