The group followed behind slowly. Tyranis had dumped them off on Amelie and Tosh. They walked bunched together through the quiet halls in a group. The young elf spoke a mile a minute.

“I grew up in Tokyo in the 60s,” he said happily. “I was retired and one day I was crossing a street when low and behold I was hit by a truck. Would anyone care to guess what System I awoke?” Tosh asked.

Asher and Keera said almost simultaneously, “Isekai.” Their eyes wide.

“Correct,” the old man said with a laugh. “That was about 4 years ago. I was allowed to choose my race, and a new System. I awoke here with the Gamer System,” he said happily. “I fought some monsters. Gained some levels. Then ended up here in the capital. The Lofgren were good enough to take me in after hearing my story.”

“That is so cool,” Keera said beside him. Asher nodded. “What was your name before?”

“Toshiro Nagasaki. I go by Tosh now,” he said with a smile. “I take it Earth is going through Initialization?” They nodded. “I kind of wondered when it would happen. There were too many planets to search for home, but I wouldn’t have been able to go anyway since we weren’t in the System.”

“Caught me off guard to have a Lawful Good come from my old home,” he said. They entered an elevator-like platform and went down.

“Is that a big deal?” Tiff asked. He hadn’t shared his conversation with Tyranis about the power of a Lawful Good yet.

“From what I understand, the Roktai’s reaction you saw out there was mild compared to other planets,” Tosh said as they exited the elevator and headed down another hall. “They are already praising you as freer of slaves.”

“What?!” Asher asked. “When did I do that?”

“With the Champion Trial. Did you see the betting odds for a Lawful Good? Billion to 1 odds. There are a few planets that have nothing but slaves as servants. After too many attempted revolts one of the leaders said he would place a 1 Sysco bet on a Lawful Good and if they won he would use that money to free all current slaves and give them enough for passage off planet. The very next Initialization it happened, and they were freed. After that most every planet that treats their slaves worse than others does the same thing. You probably freed a few billion people.”

Asher felt a little good with that. But Tosh ruined it. “But that just means there will be a demand for more slaves as they replenish their stock.” They walked quietly as the reality of it sunk in. “Listen, one of the biggest things you should understand is the power you hold. Some planets worship the System as their god. If a Lawful Good killed someone from one of those planets. The family of the person killed would apologize for their relatives actions and offer their own life as an apology.”

The group was quiet with the news. Asher felt uncomfortable at the thought of it. He really needed to practice changing his face before venturing out.

“I miss much on Earth in 4 years?” Tosh asked as if he didn’t talk about enslavement and killing.

“Not really. Kind of boring,” Asher said. “Initialization is the most that’s happened in a while.”

“I bet, hard to think when I go back it won’t look the same,” he admitted.

“How so?”

“A Tier 0 to Tier III is unheard of. Forcefully injecting Leylines is ugly business. I tried to research it when I heard Earthlings were coming. Initialization is a dark time for every planet, so there’s not many reliable records, but studies have been done. From Tier 0 to Tier I you get about half again as big. Tier I to II about 2 times. Tier II to III about 3 times. We are talking almost 9 times bigger. There will be new continents by the time you all get back. I think the Earth was about 12,000 kilometers in diameter, now it will be over 100,000.”

“Oh you did miss the world going back to the Imperial measurement system. They decided the metric system was dumb,” Asher said. This caused Tosh to stop and stare angrily at him. “I’m just joking. Are you coming back with us?” Asher asked.

Tosh began walking again. “That an invitation?” Tosh asked.

“If you want?” Asher said. “Think we could use all the help we can get when we go back.”

Tosh stopped. “I’ll think about it. Give me your Comms. I’ll put my signature in. You can ask me questions if you have any. I know the city pretty well.”

Asher handed him the Comm. “We want to go shopping tomorrow. And maybe dungeon dive. Try to work more as a team,” he said. People handed Tosh the thin Comms as he spoke.

“Works for me. Call me tomorrow. I’ll show you around. Till then, good luck. You’ll need it with the Burills here,” he said.

“Why’s that?” Tiff asked. Tosh and Amelie shared a look.

“Let’s just say, the princess does not like her fiancés,” Tosh said with a wry smile. “Most dinners she attends end in her cursing them, despite having never met them. Lately she has been extra upset by the arrival date of her fiance.”

Tosh walked away as the quiet elf Amelie said, “here are your rooms. Dinner will be served in a few hours. Someone will be along to retrieve you.”

Asher looked around. Again they were in a dark hallway with white doors on either side of the hall. “Do we just…?” Asher asked, implying they pick a room.

“Earthling meeting,” his mother said loudly. “Everyone in here,” she said, picking a room at random.

Asher hesitated but his father pushed him in the room. Surprisingly everyone else piled in. It was a spacious room with a large bed on the floor again. This time there were large pillows to sit on. Enough pillows for everyone. A carpet and short table sat between the bed and cushions..

“Sit,” his mother ordered at a pillow. He did so without question. “We were all warned not to talk on the ship. Since we are here, I’m hoping it’s ok. Now, we have all talked about this and we want an explanation of what’s going on between you and Tyranis.”

“What do you mean?” Asher asked as he began to sweat.

“We have heard the veiled threats and the way you dodge certain questions. Did you have sex with his daughter?” Abby asked.

Asher didn’t see the need to lie, so he nodded. “Hell, George told you about it,” he said, not looking his parents in the eye.

“The princess and her guards?” Abby asked.

“It was 1 guard,” he said angrily.

“Still Asher. We are very disappointed in you,” his dad said. “What does this mean for us?”

“As far as I know. Nothing. Tyranis implied the Burill problem would solve itself soon enough. Something about his own trial he has to go through,” Asher said.

The room was quiet for a little bit. Then Nadir spoke up. “Would it be so bad to take this blood elf’s place?” Everyone looked at Nadir. “Hear me out. I spoke to Tyranis at length on the need for alliances. He implied that they usually make or break a planet after their 5 year grace period post-Initialization. I for one would feel a little better thinking we had someone with some leeway here. This place is only 2 weeks away from home, and from what I see they are very powerful.”

“I’m not letting some elf Princess take my place,” Tiff said angrily.

“She wouldn’t be,” Nadir said. “Tyranis has 3 wives himself. Most all were for alliances that made his position stronger. We may need to think on those terms.”

Even his parents hesitated to say anything. “I can’t believe you’re agreeing with him,” Asher said to his parents.

“We aren’t agreeing, just simply mulling it over,” his dad said. “We are all in over our heads, and this may take some time to get used to. Next time think with your upper head and you won’t cause an interplanetary incident.” Tiffany fought the laughter well, but he knew her faces. She was loving every second of him being scolded. He gritted his teeth but nodded.

Eventually his mother changed the subject. “We are all here to work together and see this through,” she said. “And I know I appreciate all of you agreeing to come. Though my son is an idiot, his heart is in the right place when it matters. From now on I think it best that we all help guide him if he needs it. Until then can we agree to meet in the mornings? I’m sure everyone wants to sightsee for a few days. But we have a month to get serious if we want to pass these trials.”

Atalanta scoffed and walked out of the room. The rest of the party was receptive at least. With that they broke away to different rooms. Tiff and Asher were left alone.

When the door shut for the last time she worked her way over. Moving his arms out of the way she straddled his thighs as she sat on him. Her forehead rested on his.

“Whatcha thinking about?” She asked after some more silence.

“You,” he admitted. “Not sure why you stick around me.”

“The laughs mostly,” she said after some thought. “You get into some crazy shit. And the dick is pretty good.”

“My personality didn’t make the cut?”

“Your tongue did,” she teased. “But not by talking.” She kissed him deeply. He felt the passion from her, but his mind was somewhere else. “Hey, we are a team. You, and me, and Zora. We can get through this.” He looked up into her eyes. “And no elf princess is going to cause us a bunch of drama.”

—-

“This is my wife Kalfeer,” Tyranis said. She was a dark, almost gray-skinned elf. Her hair was white, and her large bosom was apparent as she bent over to bow.

“Our son Wylin recently Awakened as well,” he was a thin elf. With gray hair and a lighter shade of gray skin he at least looked masculine. Asher still had trouble differentiating the pure blood Roktai elves gender. Curious, he used Inspection on Wylin.

Dark Elf

Level 20

“It’s an honor to meet you,” Wylin said in a nervous voice.

“The honor is all mine,” Asher said, trying to play the celebrity. It appeared to work, since the elf that looked Asher’s age now had stars in his eyes.

“This is my wife Reeleah,” Tyranis introduced next. She was just as stacked as Kalfeer. The big difference was her green hued skin. Almost a lime color, her hair was dark green, but she had the apparent wide and long ears that the Roktai elves had.

“And our daughter Fresneah.” Fresneah was just as beautiful as her mother. Not as filled out, she didn’t appear too much older than Wylin.

SKILL LEVEL UP

IDENTIFICATION (LVL 5)

Asher did a mental fist bump. He had been casting Identification on everything and everyone he could, and apparently now he could see levels 5 higher than his own. Fresneah simply bowed, but her darker green cheeks told him she was blushing. He gave her a big smile.

“And finally my first wife Millfadona,” Tyranis said. Asher caught himself before laughing at the name. He didn’t hear anyone behind him laugh, but he still worried.

“Call me Millie, please,” Millfadona said.

Thank the lord, Asher thought.

She was the spitting image of Lyola. No bust to speak of, her long blonde hair was down to her waist. Her smile was a lot more apparent than Lyola’s had been. Asher remembered his once lover as very cold until they got to the bedroom.

“I apologize, but our daughter Lyola was unable to join us today,” Millie said. “I think she is nervous to meet her new fiance.” Asher could tell she was a little angry at that fact. From what Asher was getting, Lyola wasn’t the most liked Chieftess in the Roktai.

“Ah yes of course, and where are the Burills?” Asher asked, trying to keep an indifferent tone.

“They were tired from our expedition. While you have only been on the ship for a few weeks, they were traveling for over twice that before we picked you up. My family and I will be having dinner with them tomorrow. I expect you will be too busy sightseeing to join us,” Tyranis said.

Asher got the hint. “I agree with you there, what a beautiful city you have,” he said. Soon they were all seated at a large table. It was short of course, and they used large decorative pillows as seats. Asher remembered Lyola blowing him on one just like it.

The table was set with a large quantity of food. From more roasted horned rabbits, to what looked like pheasant. Many pillow spots were left empty at the table. This was simply a meet and greet for Asher and his companions.

“Tell me Champion, what exactly is a Porn Hero?” Kalfeer asked.

Asher became nervous, his mother coughed as she choked on some water. “Well, to be honest, I’m not exactly sure myself,” Asher said. “I know I specialize in Sexual Mana,” he said truthfully. “From what I understand your people don’t really have Systems that do that, correct?” Asher remembered Lyola saying they didn’t have any Systems focused on sex.

There were more than a few blushes from the royal side of the table. “No, surely not,” Reeleah said. Her green skin became darker.

“Can you do anything cool with it?” Wylin asked like a young kid.

Asher decided to not mention the best parts. “I made a bunch of goblins have sex with each other,” he said. This caused more than a few chuckles. “The image of the ugly goblins kissing still haunts me.”

“Is Sexual Mana rare?” Tiffany asked after rolling her eyes.

“I’ve met a few from other planets,” Tyranis admitted. “But in this sector of the League I would consider it rare.” He didn’t appear so put off by the line of talk at the dinner table.

There was a short silence. “Wylin, I was curious,” Nadir broke the silence. “Do you gain levels before you Awaken?” Asher was curious too, since the dark elf was already level 20.

“Of course,” the meek boy said. “Most people receive their status screen around the time of puberty, and with it they receive Inspection, System Store, and Group Formation. You are able to group up, but your only experience method is by killing monsters. If you want a strong System you have to prove yourself through battle.”

“How does that work? Proving yourself?” Abby asked.

“That depends on what you want. Many trade families simply have their young do work and they will awaken a System related to it. I want to dungeon dive, so for me I mostly fought and trained,” Wylin said, growing more confident. “Much of school is spent learning, and Mana Utilization is a major part of that. Most people find out which way they lean on the Spectrum during that time.”

“What is the Spectrum?” His mother asked curious.

“Isyant taught you Mana Sight correct?” Tyranis asked, taking over the conversation. “As you level the skill you will notice that mana will often change colors. What color do you see mana as now?” He raised his hand and began to channel mana. The hand was coated in a blue aura.

“Blue,” Asher and a few others answered.

“A higher level Mana Sight will show a different color. That color can be attributed to a type of mana. There are the elements of course, soil is brown, ice is light blue.” Tyranis finished.

“What’s mine?” Tiff asked as she channeled mana into her hand.

“Pink,” Tyranis said. Asher guessed his own was pink as well since they both used Sexual Mana.

“Since I am an Illusionist, do I have a color?” Nadir asked.

“Yes, white,” Tyranis said, like it was obvious.

“Is this how Isyant was able to tell our Systems with just a glance?” Atalanta asked.

“Yes, very good. Isyant has most every skill at a very high level, there is not much he can’t tell with a simple glance,” Tyranis said. Then he changed the subject masterfully. “Tell me Millie, has much been going on in the city?”

Asher began to dig into his food. “Careful with those,” he said to his mother next to him. “They get you drunk.”

“Really?” Tiff asked, grabbing a handful of the fermented grape like fruit. She winked at him as she popped one in her mouth. Asher laughed as he leaned over for more meat. It wasn’t long until Tiff was grabbing his leg under the table. She was usually extra horny when drunk, but by how quickly she ate them he worried she would pass out.

“Slow-” Asher said but was interrupted as the large double doors were opened forcefully. In walked Lyola in a bright red dress. Asher gulped. Tillie, her guard, walked in behind her as they passed the guards at the door. They were as beautiful as Asher remembered. The meek Tillie in her guard uniform and long dark brown hair tied back. Lyola let her long blonde hair wave as she stormed inside in a huff. Her pale skin was now pink with exertion.

“Ah Lyola, so good of you to join us,” Tyranis said as if Asher wasn’t having a serious mental crisis.

Once at the end of the table she looked around asking, “Where are the Burills?”

“They decided to forego dinner tonight to rest. Instead we are meeting the Champion and his party,” Tyranis said. He waved his hand over to Asher to point. Lyola looked over to him, and after a moment of confusion she beamed a smile.

“Hey Lyola, Tillie, been a while,” Asher said.

“I thought your name was Quinten,” Lyola said as her cheeks flushed more.

“That’s more of an alias,” he said awkwardly. “My real name is Asher.” He didn’t get up, didn’t move, he simply waited for the fallout to come at any moment. Yet, it didn’t. Slowly he felt something inside of him. It rose high then leveled off. As he mentally went through his skills he understood what it was as he pulled up his Relationship Screen.

His relationship level with her skyrocketed to Level 8. He had been checking it daily to make sure Zora was still on the list. At some point his level with Daphne had dropped, but he didn’t mind. They had fun, but Asher didn’t feel for her what he did for the others on his list. Maybe he could have, but there was no guarantee before that he would ever come back to the planet.

“Join us, please,” Tyranis said. He pointed to an empty spot next to Millfadona. Lyola finally looked away from Asher. She regained some of her confidence and sternly walked around the table. Her new spot happened to be straight across from Tiffany. His wife was slowly sobering up by the situation as she locked eyes with Lyola. Tillie stood behind Lyola, she was the only guard within earshot.

“Why have you graced us with your presence?” Millie asked. Asher still couldn’t think of her as Millfadona. I mean she was, but he couldn’t think of the name without wanting to laugh. He was sure it meant something beautiful in their language, but in his, not so much.

“I caught your speech a little bit ago,” she said looking to Asher. “I was quite surprised to see you were your planet's Champion. I suspected you were a hero since our Inspection tools did not work on you, but I didn’t think you would be chosen.” Asher had been told many times that Hero Systems were usually hidden.

“Oh yes, you did mention coming to our cities,” Fresneah said. Her green skin shined perfectly as she ate a salad. “I assume you both met?”

“Yes,” Lyola admitted freely. “Asher and his party received a quest for a small goblin camp near the city. I was quested to test them. If they failed I was to send them on their way.”

“How did you test them?” Wyllin asked curiously.

“A simple…spar,” Lyola lied smoothly. “Tell me, what are your plans prior to your Trial?” She only had eyes for Asher. He tried to catch Tiff’s eye, but she stared daggers at Lyola.

“Shopping tomorrow,” his mother answered. “Then training.”

Lyola finally looked away. “And who are you?” She asked.

“Oh I’m sorry, you missed the introductions earlier,” his mother said, unoffended by the tone. “I am Ria, Asher’s mother.” Lyola appeared to have been chastised masterfully with the admission.

“I apologize, Ria. It is good to meet you,” Lyola said with a slight head bow.

“Asher, why don’t you introduce everyone else?” His mother asked, snapping him out of his thoughts.

“Of course,” Asher went down the line from the far end. Lyola nodded to everyone, a deeper nod for his father. “And my wife Tiffany,” he said at last.

“First Wife,” Tiff corrected like it was a title. Lyola and Tiffany locked eyes.

“Oh you married?” Nadir asked. “How come I was not invited?”

Asher gave him a death glare. “Engaged to be married,” Tiffany corrected, but her eyes never left Lyola’s.

“I think there is much to discuss,” Tyranis said. “At a later time. For now, let’s enjoy our meal. Lyola we will catch up later.” Lyola finally looked away. Setting a cool facade on her face she turned to her father and nodded. With that, dinner started again. Some more people tried to get the conversation going once more, but it never really picked up. The elves were soon talking about the weather as dinner was wrapping up. Of course that's when it really went to shit.

The door burst open again. This time it was the Burills. “Here we go,” Asher said as he put his head in his hands. Mentally he swore to never have sex with an alien again.

“I have been slighted,” Fetince basically yelled. His face was now a dark red. His companion, Plarious, was behind him, and he had the same constipated look on his face. “I demand a Death Duel!”
