Chapter 486: War Effects
Just as predicted, the world is in turmoil as soon as the news of Marie Geoise's fall spread. Everyone is shocked that the Capital of the world, Marie Geoise has been destroyed. After all, it is the most defended city, the strongest in the world, and a pirate crew managed to destroy it.
What shocks people more is the fact that one man managed to cut a big chunk of that massive Red Line. Those who have seen the Red Line obviously can't believe it at first. That is until they see the picture of the chopped Red Line.
Well, even those who have seen it in person are having a hard time believing it. Such a thing as someone cutting the massive Red Line wall is simply impossible in people's minds. But they can't deny it with the proof lay bare in front of their eyes.
This actually causes another effect that's different from what was predicted. Instead of having many pirate crews rushing to the New World, there are only some that even try to go there. Most of them are just staying on Sabaody or even going to other islands in Paradise.
They are afraid to enter the New World because the monster that cut the Red Line is there. There aren't many that have the courage to face such a powerful and dangerous monster like Buggy. They know well that compared to Buggy, they are much too weak and can be defeated with a flick of his finger.
Well, they know that the chance of meeting Buggy is low because he is only one person, but they don't want to take any risk. Furthermore, even if they don't meet and fight him, they still won't have the chance to spread their names and become great pirates in the New World as long as he is still there.
Most pirates don't just like wealth, but also fame and obviously power. Those are their desire, and that's why many are chasing One Piece. But now they know that it will be very hard to obtain those things in the New World with Buggy there, so they choose to stay in Paradise until they think they are powerful enough to enter the New World.
They actually save themselves by being some little cowards because those who are confident they can make it in New World and see this as a very great chance are faced with the hard truth immediately when the Red Hair Pirates stop them before they can even see a glimpse of New World's sea.
It's relatively easy for the Red Hair Pirates to stop those pirates. They just need to make sure they can't coat their ships. So the Red Hair Pirates are 'asking' the coaters to not take any coating jobs for a while and Rayleigh helps them 'talk' with his fellow ship coaters.
Those who aren't satisfied try to attack the Red Hair Pirates. There's no need to even ask what happened to them after that. They obviously get defeated easily, although the Red Hairs don't kill any of them because it isn't necessary.
Because they can't go to New World through Fishman Island, some idiots are trying to go there by climbing the Red Line. There is a much lower part now after Buggy chopped the Red Line. They are trying to cross the Red Line through that chopped part.
The Red Hair Pirates don't even try to stop those idiots. After all, they can't do anything even if they succeed in climbing the Red Line and moving to the New World's side. They can't bring their ships over the Red Line even though the chopped part is much lower than the original height.
Not only it's very difficult to lift the ships up the wall, but it's also very difficult to drag the ship over the Red Line because the Red Line is actually very wide. Their ships' bottoms will break before they can even sail and even if they succeed, the New World's harsh sea will break their weakened ships' hulls.
Well, although the real reason the Red Hair Pirates don't try to stop those idiots is because the chopped part already has guards. It is guarded by the ones who created this whole mess, the Clown Pirates.
They don't return to their base after leaving New Marineford and come here instead. Buggy realized that the chopped part could be used to cross to the New World. If given enough time, some organizations can build something like a port to cross this low Red Line wall.
So he decided to prevent that because it would make Fishman Island run out of business. Also, if a port really needs to be built, then it should be his organization that builds it. He is the one who made this thing, after all, so he has the right to use it.
However, it might be impossible because Dragon and Aokiji have asked for the right to use this place. It will be an official crossing port, just like the old Marie Geoise, but without annoying Celestial Dragons.
Well, actually Buggy was also one of the reasons Robin didn't join the Revolutionary Army in this war. He told Dragon to not bring her and Dragon agreed. Not only she wasn't ready for this level of war, but she was also too valuable of an asset to be put in danger as she could read the poneglyphs.
Although currently, it's not just Robin who can read poneglyphs as Oden is still alive. But while he can read poneglyph, Oden isn't an academic and won't study it thoroughly like her. Also, he isn't someone who can go around the world to discover the mystery of ancient times like her anymore as he has a great responsibility now as a Shogun.
Anyway, the Clown Pirates are guarding the chopped part of Red Line. Also, while they're at it, Buggy decides to rearrange the terrain once more. He chops the red ground on some spots into blocks and uses them to close the gap of the Red Line wall on Paradise's side.
Palu directs him to make sure the wall is sturdy and they don't chop the wrong parts. They really enjoy this because it's like playing with big legos and they can imagine people's shocked expressions which makes this more interesting.
"Good, this should do."
"Heh, the Marines won't like this."
"It's their fault for letting us stay here for days."
"No, they don't let us, they asked us."
"Haha, that means they asked this themselves."
The Clowns are talking happily while looking at their crew's jolly roger that gets carved on the Red Line. They thought just making it plain was boring, so they asked their Captain to carve their jolly Roger on the wall he built.
Buggy liked the idea and he even went as far as carving one on each side. So there are 4 in total now. 1 on Paradise's side, 1 on New World's side, 1 on the inner left side, and 1 on the inner right side. The crew also painted those carvings to make them better as they're too free.
"Nice, this should be enough to warn people to not cross this place. There hasn't been anyone coming here since we started building the wall, so it should be fine to leave now. Let's go back to Clownland."
