A letter for my Sister-In-Law
Sister-in-law:
I hope this letter finds you well!
Do you still remember that blue flower you sent to Older Brother?
Brother planted it and now there are blue flowers all over the Base, not to mention how beautiful it is!
Brother even found a home for you inside that sea of flowers. Every time he comes back from killing zombies, he would quietly sit in the middle of the sea of flowers for a long time. We all know that he was thinking about you.
When returning from outside, he always thought of bringing some fruit, cake or candy to place in front of your house. Perhaps he was expecting that one day, you would show up with that proud expression you usually had in the past and say, “Luo Shaoxuan, I want to eat······, help bring it back for me.”
There are a lot of people in the Base who have a favorable impression on Brother, including Wen Wanling, the woman who has foresight.
But Brother has never looked at them. From Brother’s increasingly cold expression, they also finally realized that you, Sister-In-Law, are irreplaceable. After all, having seen the clouds at Mt. Wu, the clouds anywhere else do not seem as spectacular1

Brother goes to bed later and later, yet he’s waking up earlier and earlier.
If you remember when Brother used to sleep beside you, he used to sleep very deeply every night. But now, as long as there’s a little rustling of the wind and grass at night, the lights in the old house would turn on; then he would stare at the bag of hair in a daze, frequently thinking about it all night.
Unless, it’s a dream about you.
One time, Brother told me that he dreamed of you the previous night. He dreamt of you smiling at him in that sea of blue flowers. He told me that you were still so alive and clever in his dreams. However, as soon as he opened his eyes, there was nothing remaining.
He said that if dreams are reality, how good could reality be in a dream?
Talking and talking, Brother’s eyes would redden. This was the first time I saw a 190 cm man weep with such heartache, like the sky had collapsed, in front of my(YYX) eyes.
Tell me Sister-In-Law, how strong should a person be, to constantly keep (you) in mind?
Brother said that he couldn’t forget you. He said that as long as he remembers you, you will always live on, always living up to the present.
It’s true, because of Brother, none of us had forgotten you all these years.
You are the deepest scar in everybody’s hearts. No one dares to touch it, but as long as it is a rainy day, everybody will feel a dull ache.
I often wonder: if we were in so much pain, then how did Brother handle it all these years?
Oftentimes, death is not that horrible. What’s horrible, is when a person is left behind, all alone in this world. Searching at all costs, for all the traces you left behind, and talking to every person who knows you and to those who know about you.
But with the person gone, the traces that were left will start to dissipate little by little. There are a lot of things to say about you, but talking about them only brings more hurt, and there is only so much to say before we run out of words.
Every time we talk about people and things related to you, Brother’s eyes will have some spirit; the rest of the time, it will be a wide expanse of emptiness. At a glance, people could feel the despair.
Sometimes, when I give it some thought, I unbearably want to complain to you. Why didn’t you allow Brother to go with you at that time?
But I figured it out later. Feeling pain, feeling despair, at least it would prove that this person is still alive. If the person dies, there really would be nothing left. Sister-In-Law, that must be what you thought, right?
Sister-In-Law, if your soul is in Heaven, then come and enter Brother’s dreams when you have time.
