2. Angel (feat. Forestella – Angel)

It wasn’t easy to take care of children, even if they started their day earlier. They woke them up earlier than usual, and included their favorite side dishes for breakfast. And even though there was only one child to take care of per person, it was still hard.

At least it was easier for Muyeol, since he was in charge of Jiyoon. The child trusted her father even if he came up with a story.

The problem was Cha Joonho, who was attached to Yoon Yiyoung like glue. She couldn’t even count how many times they had run laps around the living room.

“You have to wash your face,” Yiyoung ordered.

But Joonho laughed and ran away again, causing Yiyoung to chase after him. “You need to wash your face to go see your great-grandmother!”

Joonho was three years old. He laughed naively as Yiyoung worried that they would get stuck in traffic on the way. As if playing a fun game, he zipped around in different directions, until Muyeol caught him after he was done helping Jiyoon wash her face.

“This guy…” Muyeol easily lifted Joonho, who flailed his legs about as if he was running in the air. The little guy was full of energy, not knowing when to stop moving.

Yiyoung plopped down on the floor. “He thinks we’re playing when I chase him.”

Muyeol tightly wrapped his arms around Joonho. He turned to Yiyoung and said, “I’ll wash him, so why don’t you go get ready?”

“Can I really?”

Joonho really disliked brushing his teeth. So every time Yiyoung tried to brush his teeth, she became ready to drop afterward.

“Go get ready now.”

“I’d really appreciate it if you can handle it.”

“I can.”

Joonho couldn’t stop giggling even as Muyeol brought him to the bathroom. Hearing him laugh as she was freed from watching the child made Yiyoung feel good. She didn’t know what it was that made him so happy and joyful, but Joonho’s laughter made her mood better. The child’s laughter was like the sound of an angel.

Then, Yiyoung heard Jiyoon ask, “Mom, can I choose my outfit?”

Jiyoon was seven now, and she was already an opinionated child. Muyeol was always impressed by her. Jiyoon was great at successfully doing things on her own, but she was also considerate enough to let Muyeol wash her face, despite being able to do it herself.

“Of course. You can wear whatever you like,” said Yiyoung.

“Okay.”

It was Madam Choi’s birthday today, so Yiyoung had taken a day off.

Suddenly, she heard Joonho loudly whine, “Don’t like brushing teeth! No! No!”

Yiyoung couldn’t hear Muyeol’s reply, perhaps because he was trying to convince him quietly. But pretty soon, she heard Joonho crying at full volume. Cha Muyeol was a great father who loved his children dearly, but he was a father who would not tolerate his child having tooth decay. Yiyoung felt bad for thinking it was good that Muyeol was in control of the situation, even though it meant Joonho had to cry.

They’d started preparing at 7 a.m. And by the time they were finally ready to leave, it was 11 a.m.

“Oh no, there will be a lot of traffic,” said Yiyoung.

Madam Choi’s summer house was in Ga-Pyung. Muyeol and Yiyoung planned to stay at her house for the night, and would only return the next day.

“We can take our time,” replied Muyeol, and Yiyoung smiled.

After taking some extra clothes to change into, the two went down to the parking lot with the children. Muyeol opened the car door, sat Joonho on his seat, and then helped Jiyoon onto her seat as well. He checked to see if their seat belts were firmly buckled in, and after he took the driver’s seat, he checked Yiyoung’s seat belt as well.

“Here we go.”

“Let’s go!”

“Let’s go!”

As expected, they encountered traffic. There were so many cars on the road, all probably on their way to weekend trips. There was traffic everywhere.

Yiyoung turned around to look at the backseat and saw the kids asleep. She felt grateful. The kids had been car sick, but it was mostly due to the fact that they’d woken up earlier than usual to get ready.

“They’re sleeping,” Yiyoung prayed, “Oh, please continue to sleep.”

Muyeol laughed at that.

“What?” Yiyoung questioned his laugh.
