Chapter 41
Kali's Pov
Morrigan and I have been scouting around, killing Orc groups when we find them, but mostly we are trying to find other things in the area, but there is nothing else here. Sadly there was no Tier 2 Orc in any of the groups.
'I think that the Orcs have hunted everything close to their camp,' is the conclusion I came to after searching yesterday, and this morning.
But that does not explain where the other {Corrupted} are since I know that at least some wolves have been {Corrupted}, and even then there should be more {Corrupted} types, like that Abomination, or Humans, but instead there are only Orcs in this camp.
Before I could think about it more, Morrigan gave me a sign that she found something. I jumped up the tree and used [Veil of Space], making me invisible.
I look through her eyes to find what she found. We have been doing this a couple of times already, just so I can get used to it.
Looking through Morrigan's eyes, I see the Orc camp, but the weird part is that the Tier 3 orc is out of its cave and is yelling, but Morrigan is too high to hear it, so I told her to lower herself, which she did, and she planted herself on one of the tent poles, and turned invisible.
"Nahukr, You are the Leader while I report our problems," the Tier 3 Orc yelled at one of the Tier 2 Orc, this Orc is bigger than the normal Orcs, even bigger than the Corrupted Rage Orc that I killed.
"Yes, Chief!" Nahukr, I presume, said.
After yelling some more about a 'Shadow' and that they have to kill it, he left with two Tier 2 Orcs, to the south.
'Report to whom?' I asked myself and then decided to not follow them, since the camp is much easier to infiltrate now, which I have been wanting to do again, since that magic circle that the Orc mages were working on is something I want to know more about.
After I left Morrigan, and returned to my own body, I unveiled, and ran to the Orc camp.
It took me almost no time to arrive, and I did not waste time. I veiled myself and climbed over the wall just like last time.
When I got over the wall into the Camp itself I looked around for any of the Tier 2, and it took me no effort at all to find them, they were all in the middle of the camp, discussing something that looks important, so quietly walked to the group, until I was in hearing distance.
Interestingly crouching does not help me with stealth at all, since I have [Mystery Movement], which nullifies all noise I make, and [Veil of Space], which makes me invisible, crouching like in the movies and video games is kind useless for me, so I can just walk at a relaxed pace, and as long as they have no way to break my Veil, they cannot find me, since I leave no traces at all.
They are discussing this thing they call 'Shadow', mostly how to kill it.' So they call me Shadow' that is so unoriginal.
The discussion is boring, so I left them to it, and walked to the cave of the Mages, while also taking the time to walk past them, to see if they can sense me in some way, but they did not react to me at all.
Entering the Cave I noticed that there is an Orc mage here again, but this one is much bigger than any of the other Orcs, except for the Tier 3, 'Did I miss one?' this is not an Orc I have seen before, since its height would have made me notice it before. There is also another Orc in the middle of the magic circle,'Wait, that is a woman!' A female Orc, the first one I have ever seen. I use Primal Sight, to see their Tiers, and am surprised to see that they are both Tier 2 and the woman is curable. The first {Corrupted} that I have seen that can be cured.
'I need to capture her,' which will not be hard, since they already did that for me, the female Orc was chained down by the same black chains as the Brola Bear was, but these are much smaller. My Primal Sight tells me that the female Orc is already {Corrupted}, but not as much as the other Orcs.
'Did they just capture her?' That would be the only explanation why she would be here, since she was not here last time I was here, unless she was in another cave.
While I was pondering things the Orc mage was doing some kind of magic which was making black threads enter the woman, most likely corrupting her further.
'She is not going to last long at this rate,' I can see that she is being corrupted at a fast pace, much faster than the Brola Bear, so I need to save her fast, but first I want to learn more about corrupting beings, and I have a good target right now to learn it from, the Orc mage.
I walk around the room, to reach the back of the mage, another interesting thing I find is that the Mage is sweating a lot,'Do those black threads use that much Mana?' since I know that having low Mana drains you mentally a lot, but this is the first time I see a physical reaction to that,'Or does the Skill use something else instead?' It could be a stamina based Skill.
When I get right behind the Orc mage, I noticed that he is already half dead. My [Primal Instinct] is telling me that he is at low health already, which answers the question of why he is sweating. The Skill is most likely using his Health as a cost, but that makes it easier for me, since lower health makes the poison go faster through his body.
I already have a couple of knifes coated with the Parasi Snake poison, which causes paralysis, in my [Space Pocket], ready to use at any time for these situations.
The Orc is wearing a robe and nothing else, so there are several spots for me to cut him with my poisoned knife, but to make the poison have a fast effect it needs to enter his blood stream. Sadly his Health is too low for me to just cut into it, since it might kill him. I also noticed that he is not regenerating his health anyway near the speed of the Corrupted Rage Orc I killed last time.
I think over my options, and decide to risk it, since I cannot wait for him to heal himself. I take out my poisoned knife, and stab him in the arm, deep enough to get the poison in the bloodstream. At the same time, I jump on his back and lock my legs around his waist, while putting both my hands at his throat. My fingers pressuring on certain areas of his throat that [Chaos Knife-Play] tells me can stop his voice.
At the start the Orc had some energy and wanted to throw me off, but it could not get to me. After 10 seconds of struggling, he fell down, and I unwrapped my legs from him, and released him. He was completely paralyzed, but still conscious, which was exactly what I wanted.
The chains fell off the female Orc and I saw some black threads escape from her, and going towards the Orc mage, so I cut them, which made it fade away, hopefully destroying it.
I walk to the woman and looked in her red eyes. Her eyes were unfocused, but I could see clarity coming back to them. Not knowing if she was friend or foe, I touched her forehead and entered, there was a big hole in her natural defenses, most likely caused by the {Miasma}, but even with that I noticed that she is fighting me, which amazes me since the only person I knew that could fight me is Annika.
This woman has very strong will, but the {Miasma} already opened the door for me, so I could enter, but I just wanted her to 'Sleep'. The moment I thought that she almost fell asleep, but there was still a fire burning in her, which made me smile, since I like a strong-willed woman.
But now it is a hindrance, so I used the same thing that worked with Annika, I moved my head close to her ear,"Sleep for me" I said with a seductive tone, knowing that [Seduction] will make it stronger. This time it worked, she fell asleep.
I stood up and walked to the Orc mage, I did the same thing to enter its mind. This one also had some good natural defenses, but I got around them very quickly and started the knowledge extraction. This time I was more interested in the {Miasma} and anything to do with it.
After 10 minutes of extracting knowledge, I was done with the {Miasma} knowledge, but before I could take more, I noticed something weird. I felt the mind fade away,'Shit, it is dying!' I leave the mind as fast as possible, but still got hit with an intense feeling of vertigo. The moment I was out of his Mind, I almost threw up next to him, but I controlled myself before it happened.
'Fuck, that was horrible,' It felt like I was drowning, just fading away. I laid down for a while, I need to take a breath after that. While resting for a little I also opened the messages.
