Chapter .259

Our morning was spent in the factory. Alice had especially come to like it as a practice place for her unique-racial skill, because using the classic factory cheats, I could easily give her ‘unlimited mana’ within the factory, so she could play around with custom spells and weapons all she wanted.

Oh, she also named her System Support. His name is Kekri. I don’t really know where that name came from, but Alice told me it was something that just felt correct to her.

Spoiler

nro_8

Kekri is a God of Harvest and Livestock in Finnish/Karelian mythology. Technically it is the name of the harvest festival, but it is also referred to as a God.

The name also has Kek in it, Kek being the primordial deity of Darkness in Egyptian mythology. Technically not a God, but more like the concept of Darkness itself, or something like that.

It is by no means the perfect name, but I decided to go with it, as it somewhat fits both Alice and Mana. Alice coming from a farming/livestock town and fitting Mana because of the ... well, what I explained above.

[collapse]

Kekri still couldn’t realize his avatar at the same time as Alice was here, but when he did make himself an avatar, he took on the form of a man about 175 cm tall, with spiky black hair, that had some blond highlights. If you really looked at it that way, it would look a bit like Atem’s hair, but it really wasn’t quite that. Nowhere near as spiky and impossible as Atem’s hair. He was dressed in black jeans, a black t-shirt and a dark purple hoodie, that he wore as a cape. It really made for a strange mix between my and Yami Yugi’s usual outfit. Well, at least Kekri doesn’t have a necklace or anything, or he would be even more like Atem. But considering his voice, I still wouldn’t be surprised if I call him Atem at some point.

Then, at the request of Alice, who wants more cards into her new ‘deck box’ of her Card Summoner skill, we opened some packs. Time for some Elemental Energy.

EEN 1

Nanobreaker, Dark Deal, Hydrogeddon, Branch!, Ojamuscle, The Forces of Darkness, Familiar-Possessed - Aussa, VW-Tiger Catapult, King's Knight

[collapse]

“Brian? Can I have her?” Alice asked, pointing at Nanobreaker.

“... sure, but why?” I asked, before I realized the answer. “... her weapon, huh. Well, I don’t really care why you want her, you can have her.” As I said that, I put a sleeve and toploader on the Nanobreaker, and then transferred it from my collection into Alice’s deck. Because of our System Link, and Alice having a deck feature in her skill, we could do things like that. Monsters that were stored in Alice’s deck could also appear in the Different Dimension Factory, just like the monsters in my collection can as well.

Lua was a bit jealous, because her monsters can’t do it, but I don’t know the triggers that cause Card Summoner to level up. I don’t think it was Alice’s fusion, but it could have been. It also could have been her fighting the behemoth with her monsters. Well, we are going to be fighting starting tomorrow, so hopefully that will help.

As soon as I had Nanobreaker transferred to Alice’s deck, she took it out and ‘summoned’ it. It is more like calling the monster, not summoning it, considering that we are in the factory though.

“... oh. It was just… a sword with a longer grip…” Alice muttered as she saw her new monster.

Apparently, Nanobreaker didn’t actually have a swordstaff, but just a sword with a slightly longer than normal grip. It does look a lot like a swordstaff in her artwork, even I thought it wasn't a swordstaff.

Well, better go into the next pack, so she has something else to think about.

Spoiler

EEN 2

Oxygeddon, Ojamuscle, Zure, Knight of Dark World, VW-Tiger Catapult, Roll Out!, Simultaneous Loss, Elemental HERO Wildheart, Gateway to Dark World, Jack's Knight

[collapse]

An Oxygeddon to go with the Hydrogeddon from last pack. Another copy of VW-Tiger Catapult. Wildheart isn’t bad either, and Jack’s Knight goes well with the King’s Knight from the last pack. Not bad. Could have gone without the second Ojamuscle thought.

Spoiler

EEN 3

Dark Deal, Level Modulation, Scarr, Scout of Dark World, Familiar-Possessed - Hiita, Gateway to Dark World, Weed Out, Simultaneous Loss, The Forces of Darkness, Water Dragon

[collapse]

“... a water dragon..?” Lua questioned. “It is just … a water snake…”

“I guess so. It isn’t even Dragon-type. It is a Sea Serpent.”

“... could I make one with magic?”

“Probably. But it wouldn’t be alive. But you can try. And I guess if you use a water spirit, you might be able to make something that is ‘alive’. Mariina does that with her golems, so I think you can do that with a water snake.”

“... I guess I’ll try it then…” Lua decided.

Spoiler

EEN 4

Familiar-Possessed - Eria, Simultaneous Loss, Scarr, Scout of Dark World, Bonding - H2O, Feather Wind, The Forces of Darkness, Dark World Lightning, Ojamuscle, Rapid-Fire Magician

[collapse]

Well, there is the Bonding - H2O for the Water Dragon. Rapid-Fire Magician might also be good for teaching Alice. He does sound like he specializes in instant cast spells, considering that he is ‘rapid-fire’. … or it could be just quick casting, but still.

“Brian, these … Familiar-Possessed, there are multiple of them and they are just a bit different. Why?” Lua asked.

“They are used to play this game. These cards, back in my old world, were used to play a game. And in that game, you make decks. And often, you want your decks to have good synergy between the cards in it. That led to something called Archetypes. Familiar-Possessed is an archetype, and because of that, many monsters have that name.”

“A game? How do you play it?” Alice asked.

“I can teach you, but first, let’s open a few more packs.”

Spoiler

EEN 5

Reborn Zombie, Dark Deal, Gateway to Dark World, V-Tiger Jet, VW-Tiger Catapult, Weed Out, Blade Skater, Bonding - H2O, Chthonian Alliance

[collapse]

Okay. V-Tiger Jet is good to have. And Blade Skater isn’t that bad. … okay, let’s be honest, it is mediocre as anything. But it is a material for Cyber Blader, so I’ll take it. Chthonian Alliance is also decent. Considering that I don’t think I have any limit on how many of the same monster I can summon, I should be able to summon seven, or even nine copies of the same monster, and then just have one of them gain 6400 attack.

Spoiler

EEN 6

Oxygeddon, The Forces of Darkness, Chthonian Polymer, Simultaneous Loss, Branch!, Zure, Knight of Dark World, Bonding - H2O, Familiar-Possessed - Aussa, Feather Shot

[collapse]

okay. Nothing crazy here. Next.

Spoiler

EEN 7

Reborn Zombie, Familiar-Possessed - Hiita, Dark World Lightning, Simultaneous Loss, Roll Out!, Bonding - H2O, Scarr, Scout of Dark World, The Forces of Darkness, Broww, Huntsman of Dark World

[collapse]

… I guess Broww isn’t half bad, even if I’ll likely never use him. But still, I feel like the previous two openings took all of my luck, and now I’m just getting … mediocre stuff. Next pack, give me something.

Spoiler

EEN 8

Simultaneous Loss, Blade Skater, Zure, Knight of Dark World, Infernal Incinerator, Familiar-Possessed - Aussa, Non-Fusion Area, W-Wing Catapult, Hydrogeddon, Water Dragon

[collapse]

Infernal Incinerator, huh. I guess that is a card. A bit too… difficult to use, but still something. The W-Wing Catapult is nice. Now I have both the materials for the VW-Tiger Catapult.

Let’s go two more. Hopefully I’ll get at least one UR or SR.

Spoiler

EEN 9

Dark World Lightning, Ojamuscle, Scarr, Scout of Dark World, The Forces of Darkness, VW-Tiger Catapult, Nanobreaker, Roll Out!, Boss Rush, Chthonian Blast

[collapse]

Oh? Boss Rush? That could be interesting. In theory, I think I can get new B.E.S. or Big Core monsters with it, the same way as I get new Vampires with Vampire’s Domain. At least I think so. I’ll need to test that out at some point.

Well, still no SR or UR, so next pack.

Spoiler

EEN 10

Oxygeddon, Gateway to Dark World, Familiar-Possessed - Aussa, Weed Out, Ojamagic, Boss Rush, Etoile Cyber, W-Wing Catapult, Chthonian Soldier

[collapse]

… no SRs or URs for me. No amount of Ojamagic is going to make this right. Chthonian Soldier isn’t even that good.

Hopefully I’ll have better luck next time.

Now then. In preparation for us heading to the dungeon 27_001, I was going to boost our skills with some installs. As I had requested, Laura, Mia and … Kekri, had spent some time during the night both checking how many installs are safe for each of us, as well as figuring out the best installs.

Lua was going strong, because with the only install she has gotten being the Luminous Spark for the Light attribute, she could handle another 4 installs.

Spoiler

[collapse]

For Alice, you might expect it to be less, because she has gotten more installs, but the amount was actually more. In total, Alice technically had four installs in her body. Mystic Plasma Zone for Dark attribute, Mage Power which turned into her Magician’s Power extra skill, Serial Spell which turned into the Multicasting extra skill, as well as the Book of Secret Arts I installed into Mana before the fusion.

Spoiler
[collapse]

But even with all of those installs, the System Supports came to the conclusion that Alice was still safe for up to five installs. They said it was likely because of her One with two Souls title, or perhaps her race.

For me, I only had two slots available. While I had fully integrated the United we Stand, as well as the Spell Economics, both my Different Dimension Factory and Different Dimension Treasury took up basically 1.5 slots each, for a combined 3 out of my total of 5.

Spoiler
[collapse]

And because of that, we were now debating what to install.

For Alice, we would first add a second attribute. That much was sure. And it didn’t take her long to choose fire as her second attribute, so I installed Molten Destruction into her.

Spoiler

[collapse]

As soon as I did, she began bothering Agunan and Ria for lessons on fire magic, so I think she might get the skill for it in the coming days.

I did also have other ideas for cards I could install into her, like Fusion Weapon and Diffusion Wave-Motion, but those can wait for another day. Better not install too many cards at one time.

Spoiler
[collapse]

For Lua, she wanted one of the healing spells I have, so either Soul of the Pure or Dian Keto the Cure Master. But Cure Master is the better card, so we went with that.

Spoiler
[collapse]

The Cure Master resulted in a skill called Mana Healing. It was a skill that could directly turn mana into healing, no spell or anything required. At LV.1, it was quite bad in terms of efficiency, but at LV.10, only Holy Magic would be more mana efficient, according to Laura and Mia. And using a combination of both would be the best anyway. The only problem with the skill was that you would have to touch the person who you are healing. That is why it is generally considered worse that attribute based healing magic.

For myself, I went with The Reliable Guardian.

Spoiler

[collapse]

It turned into Defense Boost. I’m not sure if it was really necessary, but I just felt like it was correct. And as it basic skill, it should only take a few weeks for my body to adjust to it, so that I can install another card safely.

We didn’t forget Ria either. Into her, I installed Cross Counter.

Spoiler

[collapse]

It resulted in a skill called Counter Strike. It would allow her to launch power of attack right after either receiving, dodging, blocking or parrying an attack, so that should be good for her. She can also study the new skill with Des Kangaroo, considering that the Kangaroo is literally on the card art of Cross Counter, and has an effect which is basically Cross Counter.

Spoiler

[collapse]

Agunan was also interested, so I just gave him a Dragon Treasure for now. It was also to test if he could even take installs, and Dragon Treasure seemed like the safe choice.

Spoiler

[collapse]

He let out some … interesting phrases after the install ended, like ‘Next time, I’ll beat that three-headed thing.’ and ‘Even Masters summons can no longer win against me.” in draconic. I do like the enthusiasm, but I must warn you, just because you are a bit stronger, doesn’t mean that you can beat an Ultimate Dragon.

Because of the installs, we skipped today’s Level Ups. Tomorrow would be a rest/preparation day, but the day after that, we will be going to dungeon 27_001 and we will start to clear it. The only news I have from the Goddess is that she has some plan with it, so I'm going to work on that. And with us still having the behemoth’s core, we can use that as the core for the dungeon.

… still waiting to meet the Goddess. I want to know about the dimensional fissures. Also, how was she able to produce me a Dimensional Barrier card? How does she know about Yugioh to the point where she can produce a specific card like that?

Well, wait and find out, I guess.
