Chapter .314

“Alright. Let’s finish this challenge.” I said to myself, as I teleported from the Citadel core room to floor 45 of the dungeon part of HomeBase. For a reminder, this was the floor that was basically an underground cavern, filled to the brim with golems. Including a mithril golem, which was sadly banished from this world.

Now why would I teleport here, you might ask? Well, I have a challenge I want to complete. The Fusion Summoning Challenge to be specific. I got two new fusion monsters yesterday, and all I needed was one. So as long as I summon one of them, we will be set.

And I do want to summon one of them, so I can test its effect. If this thing can really resurrect people, it would be extremely useful. Oh, and I picked this floor as it has extremely rough terrain. That way, I can also test the off-road capabilities of this thing. I mean, it is half Rescueroid, so it should be at least decent at off-roading.

“I activate Vehicroid Connection Zone. I fuse together Ambulanceroid and Rescueroid to fusion summon Ambulance Rescueroid.” I said to summon my monster.

Now I know what you might say. “Vehicroid Connection Zone cannot be used to summon Ambulance Rescueroid because it can only be used to summon Vehicroid monsters.”

And you would be correct, except that I have a cheat code. It is called Alice and her Erasure Magic. It can be used to erase anything. Including the Vehic. So after she edited my card a bit, it now allowed for the summoning of any -roid Fusion Monster, not just Vehicroids. Alice was a bit apologetic that she couldn’t delete the entire limiting usage thing, but even this was just fine. It made Vehicroid Connection Zone a lot more usable, as without that edit, it can only summon three different monsters. Like honestly, who designed this card? Did they not know the name of the archetype? Were all of the extra deck roids originally planned to be Vehicroid monsters? Well, it doesn't matter to me any more, because Alice was able to fix Konami’s mistake.

Anyway, back to my new fusion roid. Ambulance Rescueroid was just about ten meters long, two and half meters wide and about 4 meters tall. So while sizable, not enormous or anything. Packing a total of ten wheels, its weight was also quite well distributed, so I could see it being able to travel in softer terrain. Also, it is a Vehicroid. That means it can extend its wheels out, kind of like an airlift or something like that. Well, if I make an actual vehicle based on Ambulance Rescueroid, it might lose that ability.

As a monster for battle, Ambulance Rescueroid wasn’t the strongest. I mean, 2300/1800 stat line isn’t bad, but that is at most something I would summon to fight a B-rank monster. Sure I could install a few cards into Ambulance Rescueroid to power it up, but I need it for utility, not fighting, so I want to keep those five install slots open for installs that give it more utility, instead of fighting power. But even if it isn’t great in battle, because I summoned it with Vehicroid Connection Zone, my Ambulance Rescueroid cannot be destroyed by card effects, and its effects cannot be negated. And having those two effects is a major boost to its usability.

I then got into the driver’s seat of Ambulance Rescueroid and took it out for a ride. It wasn’t the most comfortable ride, because of the terrain, but it is definitely better than local carriages. And honestly speaking, if I rode it on one of the dirt roads that run through this country, it would feel perfectly fine.

I then let the Roid take over control, so it could fully use all of its ‘limbs’ to make the ride as smooth as possible. While I was driving, I’d have to use the controls to … well, control them. And as I wasn’t used to them, I couldn’t operate them at the level where the monster itself could. That did make the ride quite a bit better already, so I’m definitely happy with my new monster.

The last thing I wanted to check out was the resurrection ability, but I didn’t have a great way to test it. I don’t want to kill a person just for a test after all. I did perform one with a monster I summoned, and of course that one was successful, but I’m not sure if it will work on people.

Well, testing is done, so let’s unsummon Ambulance Rescueroid and return to my office.

So yes. By extension of me summoning a fusion, my little fusion challenge is now at 100. And the note says this is the end of this challenge. I did somewhat enjoy it, as it gave me a great excuse to summon a lot of monsters I may never have used otherwise. And of course the rewards were amazing. Of course I love my Blue-Eyed dragons, but even things like Red-Eyes Black Dragon Sword has been great. … I still haven’t given Christina a copy of Amazoness Queen and Empress. Maybe I should go visit her with Alice. I know Alice visits her mother at least once a week, so going along might be a good idea. It has been a while, after all. Sure we do exchange notes though our terminals almost daily, but that is always dungeon related.

Anyway. I claimed my reward, and along with it, a notification popped up.

Congratulations. You have reached 100 unique Fusion monsters summoned. Fusion Summoning Challenge has been completed. Because of that, Pack Opener has leveled up.

Okay. That’s cool. I wasn’t expecting anything additional, but I’ll gladly take it. Let’s take a look at the skill, shall we? Well first, my status.

Well, my status is the same, except for that level on Pack Opener. Let’s check the skill out next.

Pack Opener

[Deck] [Banished]
[xxx] (new)

[Sleeve maker] [Summoning Challenge]
[Instructions]

[Set lists] [Promo Trade]
[Open Packs] [Buy Decks]

And there is something on the first menu. A new tab that just says xxx. Let’s open it and see what is up.

This tab cannot be opened until you have Synchro and Tuner monsters.

Was the message I got when I tried to open it. So it is something related to Synchro monsters, huh. Interesting. I wonder what it is? I don’t have anything like that for Fusions or Rituals after all. And what about XYZ monsters? I have a few of them, but I don’t have an XYZ tab. I also have Link monsters, and they don’t have a tab. Will Pendulum monsters have a tab? I guess wait and see.

Catching up with Lua that evening, I gave her a quick rundown on the new vehicle I wanted to give her. Lua was a bit… hesitant to accept the role of a doctor, as she herself said she isn’t skilled enough with Light magic to the point where she should be one. But she still said she would accept it, if I made her one. Sure I could just get a second copy of the necessary roid cards, but I want to make a rescue ambulance, so why not make one.

Oh, and speaking of Lua. After she heard that Alice achieved her Limit Break by soloing a SS-rank monster, Lua was just a bit jealous of Alice. She had been the higher leveled of the two… well, even before I knew them, but now Alice had taken the lead. Because of it, Lua was saying she would be coming with me to deal with the next fissure, and she also asked me to look for cards that could help her defeat an SS-rank monster.

Of course that was more than fine with me, but I also reminded her that taking down an SS-rank monster isn’t the only way to get the Limit Break skill. I mean, technically I got it when I eliminated the dungeon, not from the SS-rank hydra that was the dungeon boss. I then theorized that she might be able to get Limit Break, if she does something like heals someone from the brink of death. Even resurrecting someone, without using Monster Reborn, could give her a Limit Break, I think.

I mean, when Alice defeated the SS-rank behemoth when she wasn’t LV.99, she got the skill Giant Slayer, as well as the title One who defeated the Impossible. Meanwhile, when Lua healed me from the brink of death, she got the Lifesaver title. So maybe those two actions are both something that could have given them the Limit Break skill, had they been LV.99 when they performed those actions. I mean, both of them even got their System Support for those actions.

Well, in the end, that is just a theory. And if Lua wants to fight an SS-rank monster for her Limit Break, I can pick some cards that will allow her to do that. I think it will have to be some super strong Zombie monster. Lua does kind of specialize in those, as Vampires are Zombie-type. My strongest Zombie at the moment is the Berserk Dragon, followed by Vampire Genesis and Zombie Vampire.

Spoiler
[collapse]

Now you might think that I should just give copies of both Genesis and Zombie Vampire to Lua, I’m not so sure. Well, there is nothing wrong with Genesis, but now that I know there is some sort of a tab for Synchro monsters, I can’t help but to think that there might be one for XYZ monsters, and that my skill just isn’t high enough level to show that tab. So if XYZ monsters are somehow extra special, I want to find that out before someone else uses them.

Now for what might be a better idea, would be giving her Vampire Fascinator. Sure it might be … awkward as the two do look quite similar, but Fascinator's effect to take control of the opposing monster could be extremely handy. And while it might not work on SS-rank monsters, it also could. You never know until you try.

And then there is also the option of installing multiple cards into a monster to boost its power. Something like United We Stand can quickly make a weak monster powerful.

Spoiler

[collapse]

Or we could consider something like the Skull Servants. Sure they might be just a bit problematic, but King of the Skull Servants hits hard. With the right set up.

Spoiler
[collapse]

I guess there is also that Zombie that gains attack based on your opponent's Life Points. Endless Decay. Sure I don’t have it yet, but eventually I’ll get it. And if Lua first heals her opponent, she can then summon Endless Decay and Decay will have a lot of attack.

… Or maybe I should give her some Fairy-type monsters. I just feel like they would fit her Saint side well. And I do like the duality of Lua using both Zombie/Undead-type monsters to represent her Dhampir side, and Fairy-type monsters to represent her healer/saint side.

And the Arcana Force monsters are all fairies, if I remember correctly. And they have the two Arcana Force EX monsters, which are both 4000/4000 in terms of stats. They even come as both Light and Dark variants, adding to Lua’s duality. Maybe those would be a good fit for her? Again, I don’t have them yet, but they are in one of the GX era sets, so I should get access to them soon.

Spoiler
[collapse]

And until I get the Arcana Force cards, I can just give Lua a copy of Guardian Angel Joan and Shinato, King of a Higher Plane. Both of them are strong Fairy monsters, and with a few installs, they should be able to go against SS-rank monsters.

Spoiler
[collapse]

Well, I’ll ask her what she would like and I’ll go with that. She could even focus on Water-attribute monsters. She already has the Water Dragon, so a water deck is definitely also an option.

We will come up with a deck that is perfect for Lua. Eventually.
