“Command Center, Command Center! It’s been confirmed that the speeding Lamborghini is transporting urgently needed blood and heading to the Maternal and Child Health Hospital in Ning City. Please, Command Center, coordinate accordingly!”

“Received, Command Center!” The traffic police officer watched as the Lamborghini disappeared into the distance and silently prayed for a safe journey.

As Zhou Chao resumed his journey, he increased his speed, eager to make up for the time lost earlier. Consequently, he was driving slightly faster than before. However, the man sitting in the passenger seat had lost his initial sense of anxiety.

But before long, Zhou Chao had to reduce his speed because they had entered the heart of Ning City, where traffic had become heavier. Zhou Chao relied on his driving skills and continuously maneuvered to overtake other vehicles.

But soon, they heard a hopeful voice. A traffic police car ahead was repeatedly announcing, “There’s a vehicle transporting life-saving goods behind. Please move to the right lane and clear the left fast lane.”

Ahead, a wide path cleared out quickly. Zhou Chao felt a slight twinge of emotion but quickly composed himself; now was not the time for nostalgia.

Zhou Chao switched to the fast lane and accelerated toward the clear path. Along the way, he saw several police cars repeating the same instructions. Eventually, he reached the highway exit for Ning City.

Just as they were about to reach the exit, Zhou Chao’s car gradually slowed down. The man in the passenger seat couldn’t help but tense up.

“What’s going on?”

Zhou Chao looked at the halted Lamborghini through the window, tapped the steering wheel in frustration with his hands, and said with a grim expression, “We’re out of fuel!”

Hearing this, the man in the passenger seat couldn’t help but feel helpless. It had been quite a rollercoaster ride. Just as Zhou Chao was about to open the car door, the window was tapped.

Zhou Chao looked through the window and saw a traffic police officer. His face lit up with excitement, and he quickly opened the car door and stepped out. “Sir, weren’t you transporting urgently needed blood? What happened?”

“You arrived just in time! My car ran out of fuel. Please, take him and go immediately!” Zhou Chao hurriedly got the man out of the car.

The traffic officer’s expression tightened upon hearing this, but he didn’t say much. Without further ado, he hurriedly escorted the man to the police car and headed towards the exit. Zhou Chao watched as the car moved away and couldn’t help but feel a sense of relief.

Sitting in his car, he took a break for about fifteen minutes. After lighting a cigarette and finishing it, Zhou Chao finally let out a sigh of relief. Just as he was about to make a rescue call, he saw a traffic police car approaching.

“Hello, we received a notice from the command center that your car ran out of fuel. We brought some gasoline for you, so you can reach a gas station!” Zhou Chao saw the gasoline container in the traffic police officer’s hand and couldn’t help but smile.

He quickly walked up to them, shook hands with the traffic police officer, and said, “Thank you so much. 1 was just about to call for rescue!”

“Don’t mention it, this is what we should do, especially when you’re helping to save lives. Also, we’ll need to take your statement to understand the situation better.” The traffic police officer quickly waved his hand.

“Sure, no problem. I understand it’s your duty.” Zhou Chao didn’t pay too much attention to it. After all, it was their job.

“Sir, could you please show your identification?” The traffic police officer saluted Zhou Chao and asked.

“Uh… sure, please wait a moment,” Zhou Chao turned and walked to his car, pretending to retrieve his documents from the glove compartment. In reality, all his identification was stored in the warehouse.

Zhou Chao casually took out a dark ink-black booklet, without examining it closely, and walked back towards the traffic police.

“Here, my identification,” Zhou Chao handed it over, only then realizing that the identification looked different. But he didn’t think much of it.

The traffic police officer received the identification and opened it, and he was utterly dumbfounded. He stared at the rank on the document, and his hands trembled involuntarily. He carefully examined the official seal, realizing it was authentic and issued at the highest level. He was stunned.

“Is there any issue, officer?” It wasn’t until this moment, while inside the car, that Zhou Chao finally noticed he had mistakenly taken his father-in-law’s upgraded ID card, the one Xiao Yang had provided earlier.

The traffic police officer quickly saluted and said, “Sir, please keep your identification safe.”

Zhou Chao took back the identification that was returned to him, only now realizing his mistake. He accidentally took out his internal identification.

“I’m sorry, 1 made a mistake. 1 wasn’t paying attention earlier. I hope you won’t mention this to anyone. 1 hope you understand.” The traffic police officer was momentarily puzzled, but then he saw the word “confidential” on the identification, which triggered some thoughts.

He hastily replied, “I didn’t see anything today. All I saw was a driver’s license!”

“In that case, shall we proceed with the statement?” The traffic police officer nodded, took out his notebook, and began questioning. It didn’t take more than five minutes to complete the inquiry.

“Mr. Zhou, I’ll take my leave now,” the traffic police officer said as he picked up the empty gasoline container. However, his walkie-talkie suddenly came to life.

“This is the command center. The blood has been successfully transported to the Maternal and Child Health Hospital. Thanks to all our colleagues for their hard work!” The same message was repeated three times before it finally stopped.

Both Zhou Chao and the traffic police officer heard the news. They exchanged smiles and saluted each other before getting into their respective vehicles and heading towards the highway exit.

Apart from the toll booth, Zhou Chao planned to find a place to rest for a while and check his car. After all, he had been driving at high speeds for two hours straight. He wanted to make sure everything was in order.

Zhou Chao found a large auto repair shop online and explained his situation. After handing his car over to the shop, he hailed a taxi and headed to the largest Hilton hotel in Ning City. He intended to spend the day resting there.

Soon, the taxi arrived at the Hilton Hotel in Yinzhou District. Zhou Chao, with his top-level access within the hotel, checked into a suite. The hotel manager initially wanted him to stay in the presidential suite, but Zhou Chao declined, citing it as a waste.

Once inside the room, Zhou Chao immediately lay down on the bed without moving a muscle. After resting for quite some time, he finally got up. He undressed and prepared to take a shower before resting.

In a short while, the sound of running water filled the bathroom. After about five minutes, Zhou Chao, wrapped in a towel, revealed his robust upper body as he walked to the edge of the bed and lay down.

Before long, he drifted into a deep sleep.

He slept until a little after 3 o’clock in the afternoon when the rumbling of his empty stomach woke him up. Zhou Chao checked the time and realized he had slept for several hours. Since morning, he hadn’t had a meal.

He rose from the bed, got dressed, and then opened the door, prepared to search for some food..
