"Mmhmm." Song Yanmei nodded, "Lu Chen is the CEO of ARCS."
"You're the CEO of ARCS?" Bai Xiaoqing's eyes widened as she looked at Lu Chen. She heard about the up-and-coming company.
In a few months, it had made many headlines.
Zhang Jian may have been the company's star, but no one couldn't undermine the CEO.
And the CEO was shrouded in mystery as he wore a mask to block his face. It was so surprising to see the person who owned that company be someone who just graduated a couple of months ago!
Lu Chen tilted his head, "Why do you sound so proud?" Wasn't it his company, not hers? But Song Yanmei smiled,
"But we're together right now, dear. What is yours is mine too." She grabbed onto Lu Chen's arm as she said this.
"Right now?" Bai Xiaoqing realized.
Lu Chen explained, "Today, I'm Song Yanmei's partner for the party."
"Oh! Does that mean you're single?"
"I guess."
"I never expected you to be. I thought you two were a couple." Bai Xiaoqing said as she bumped her hands together.
"..." Why did she ask this? Song Yanmei glared slightly at Bai Xiaoqing, wondering why she asked this question. There was slight relief in Bai Xiaoqing's voice.
Red alerts went through Song Yanmei's mind, wondering what Bai Xiaoqing was thinking as she stared at Lu Chen.
Each one had a different thought. But,
"Isn't that Bai Lei?"
"Bai Lei showed up as well."
"One of the head figures of the Bai family has come."
Bai Lei had a strong presence as he grabbed everyone's attention. Bai Xiaoqing turned to him. A frown formed on her face, wondering why he was there.
Liao Yan was by his side too. And then noticed he pointed his finger in their direction. Another bad premonition was going through the two girl's minds.
"Uncle." Bai Xiaoqing greeted Bai Lei. The latter nodded, "Xiaoqing, the last time I saw you; you were a little girl. But now you have become a beauty."
"Thank you." Lu Chen looked at Bai Xiaoqing. Her voice was different when she greeted him. It was more formal and distant.
After greeting his niece, Bai Lei walked up to Lu Chen,
"And this is Lu Chen, I presumed." Bai Lei was taller than Lu Chen by at least a head. He stared down at him. Lu Chen didn't back down as he looked up and stared back.
"You're the brat who caused all this trouble in our territory." Bai Lei said with a sneer. There was no hiding his contempt and hatred.
Bai Xiaoqing came to Lu Chen's defense, "Uncle. Liao Yan was the one who caused trouble at this party. Liao Yan has given you false information. There is a misunderstanding."
Bai Xiaoqing glared at Liao Yan, who hid behind Bai Lei even more. Knowing him, he probably skewed the information to make Lu Chen look like the bad guy.
But for Bai Lei,
"I don't care if the information is false. Brat, apologize to Liao Yan." This was an order. Bai Lei could care less whether or not Liao Yan lied. All he knew was that Lu Chen caused a commotion in their home.
Everyone was waiting for Lu Chen's response. They all knew what had happened but chose not to say anything. These people were curious as to what Lu Chen would do next.
The rumors said Lu Chen was strong-headed, the same as Liao Yan.
Lu Chen sighed,
