Chapter 501: Stubbornness In The Family

"..." Lu Chen didn't know what to say to that. You're going to bet the pendant I gave you. Noticing his expression, Huang Mingyue explained, "I think this should be equal to our family heirloom. Should it not?"

She heard about it from Huang Muyang. They would have to wager something of equal value to their heirloom. She didn't want to bet it, but it was the only thing of value.

Lu Chen said calmly, "Alright. Ladies, first." It was her pendant now; she could do whatever she wanted.

Huang Mingyue nodded and made the first move. And like that, the match between the two started. And it was going at a quick pace too. Lu Chen and Huang Mingyue made fast moves without letting the other person have time to think.

Despite how fast they were making their moves, they weren't making impulsive decisions. Each one was calculated.

Lu Chen had a smile on his face. She's good. Compared to his match with Huang Muyang, Lu Chen had a difficult time.

Huang Mingyue set up traps for him. If he took one piece, she would snatch up another. Interesting. Lu Chen thought about what moves he had to make. And Huang Muyang had the same thoughts too.

She didn't think there would be someone at the same level. And the two continued to make their moves.

"!" Huang Mingyue's eyes widened as she stared at Lu Chen's move.

"Anyone understands the move he made?" Someone asked. Because of how fast they were going, a crowd formed around them. Huang Muyang frowned. He didn't understand it either.

"It's checkmate for you." Lu Chen said calmly.

The elders' eyes went wide as they gazed at the board. The more they stared at it, the more they understood. There was no other move Huang Mingyue could make.

Either move would checkmate her. It didn't matter if it would take 2 or 3 turns; Huang Mingyue would lose.

"And that's game." Lu Chen smiled as he extended his hand over to the white jade. But as he did,

"...Um. What's wrong?" Lu Chen looked down at Huang Mingyue, who was grabbing his arm.

"One more game."

"Huh?"

"Give me one more game."

"Umm." Lu Chen glanced at the expression she made. She looked so angry. Actually, more frustrated. It seemed she was frustrated over a loss.

But Lu Chen wasn't fazed as he said,

"You lost."

"Best out of three."

"It's a best out of one."

"I lost the battle but not the war."

"And that war is one match."

"Not in my book."

Are my words not getting through to you? Lu Chen looked at Huang Muyang, wondering what was wrong with this girl.

"My granddaughter is even more stubborn than me." Huang Muyang said with proudness. She may be even more hard-headed than me! Remembering how he beat her one time in a chess match, Huang Mingyue rematched him 50 times!

Having one win wasn't enough.

"I'm sorry, princess Huang. I don't have time to have another match. I have important matters to tend to."

"Don't lie. You probably finished everything before you came here." Huang Muyang annoyed him for quite some time. Huang Mingyue realized Lu Chen had finished his work before coming here.

"..." Lu Chen had no words. Because she said what was true!
