Chapter 603: I Don’t Understand
Lu Chen expected Bai Geming and Bai Xiaoqing to come here. But he didn't expect Huang Muyang and Huang Mingyue to be with them either.
"Hmpf!" Huang Muyang snorted. But he didn't say anything to that. Lu Chen turned to the two ladies,
"What do you guys think about it?"
"It's delicious."
"Indeed."
"Try some sweets as well." Tea wasn't the only thing on the table. There were some high-class chocolates and cookies too.
"Enough with the pleasantries, Lu Chen." Bai Geming placed the cup down. "I need to speak with you. And I think you know it too."
"Hmm? What do you mean, Elder Bai?"
"Hand Liao Yan over." Bai Geming got straight to the point as he asked.
"Huh? What does that idiot have to do with the brat?" Huang Muyang and Huang Mingyue were out of the loop.
"Shut it. I'm having a serious talk with the kid." Bai Geming glared at Huang Muyang.
"Hmpf." Huang Muyang scoffed as he grabbed a cookie. He decided to stay silent. He knew what happened next in the next few minutes would be interesting.
"What do you mean, Elder Bai? Why would I have Liao Yan?" Lu Chen tilted his head, wondering what he meant.
"Don't lie. You're the only one who could have kidnapped Liao Yan." Bai Geming sighed.
Huh? Huang Muyang tilted his head, "Why do you think this kid kidnapped him?!" Change in plans. This sudden revelation was too shocking for him to stay quiet.
Bai Geming sighed, "I was 80 percent sure you did it. But seeing how you're reacting, it's 100 percent now." Any normal person would act more surprised and angered by being accused of kidnapping.
On the other hand, Lu Chen was too calm and composed, as if he expected Bai Geming to say this.
But Lu Chen retorted, "Elder Bai, how did you come to the conclusion that I kidnapped Liao Yan? Don't you understand that Liao Yan is tied to your Bai family? There should be many enemies going after him. So why do you think it's me?"
The Bai family was an influential family. But that didn't mean they were all-mighty to the point that they didn't have enemies.
"And besides. I have a company to run. I don't have time to deal with Liao Yan." Lu Chen shrugged his shoulders.
"Lu Chen, we figured out two people who attacked Liao Yan. And they were the ones who kidnapped him too." Bai Xiaoqing interjected,
"And a few weeks prior to him being kidnapped, you were attacked by a couple of thugs. And they were hired by Liao Yan." Bai Xiaoqing revealed her findings.
And when she said that, Huang Muyang and Huang Mingyue frowned.
"What? The kid attacked you?" Huang Muyang asked Lu Chen.
"Oh." Lu Chen smacked his hands together, "So the person who sent them was Liao Yan."
"..." Stop acting like a fool.
Lu Chen was acting too much of a fool. The four could already guess Lu Chen knew it was Liao Yan.
"Not only this, the Lu and Shang family joined forces to target the Liao family. It's clear the person who kidnapped him had to be from either family." The coincidences couldn't be this uncanny.
"Plus, the attack from Liao Yan, the clues all turn to you." Bai Xiaoqing stated.
"..." Lu Chen was silent for a few seconds before laughing out loud,
"As expected of someone from the Bai family. I should make it clear, Liao Yan is in my hands." There was no need for him to hide it any longer.
"..." I knew it. Bai Xiaoqing sighed. All of her conjecture was correct. But then she asked,
"I don't get it."
