"Hi, I'm free this evening, would you mind going out somewhere?" she heard over the phone, it felt a bit lacking without also feeling her emotions toward Emilia.   "Yeah, I'm free too. Meet up at Chelsea market?" she asked back, she has done her research on some good places for dates in the city.   "Okay, see you there in 20 minutes?" she heard Jean ask.   "Sure, I'm close already," they soon hung up after saying goodbye.   Emilia set up a few security precautions, she split off parts of her focus and set them to analyze what she sensed through her psychic field.   While sensing things other than minds and emotions didn't come passively she could see, hear and smell anything inside her field with a bit of focus. Said field now could cover hundreds of meters in each direction. She also set another...core? mind-stream? It was effectively like a multi-core processor but that sounded dumb. Whatever, mind-stream it is. So she set another mind-stream to rapid response, its job would be to react as fast as it could to any danger that she couldn't react to while distracted. Like say, a bullet.   She couldn't stop a bullet in its tracks, but she decided that applying sideways kinetic force to it and making it miss would have to do for now.   She practised setting up spinning telekinetic shields like that a lot. She decided that if she was trying to murder or kidnap herself as a normal person she would snipe them from outside of their detection range.   It was far from perfect but she felt a bit safer now.   She dropped the bricks and started making her way to the Market while turning off her notice-me-not field. She didn't want people to walk into her.   She wasn't wearing her jacket anymore as it was the start of May already, and it was getting warmer quickly. Her black jeans and simple long-sleeved shirt weren't the best option for a date but said date came out of nowhere so it had to do.   She got there first a bit under the agreed 20 minutes and waited around for her date. Life was good.   Jean soon arrived on a motorcycle, but it didn't fit the girl much. It was more of a macho bike, probably Logan's. She refrained from biting her lips as she saw the ripped shirt showing off the redhead's stomach.   Said the girl shivering a little, probably cold from riding a bike with only a shirt on.   "Hi," Emilia said as she made her way over to her ~date~ as she was trying to set down the kick-stand.   "Oh, Hi, let me just..." with a stronger kick to said thing it finally snapped out, "there, finally," she said putting away the keys and helmet," so, what have you planned for today?"   Emilia licked her lips, suddenly nervous about her plans being boring, "Just trying out some food here, then heading to the High Line, I heard it gives a great view of the city."   "Sounds great," Jean said, smiling at her fidgeting date.   Emilia in a rare show of boldness took Jean's hand in her own and asked while walking beside her, "So anyway, how was your day?"   Jean would have been more embarrassed if she couldn't feel the smaller girl's embarrassment at her actions as she answered, "Nothing too interesting, I went to a private school so I'm now trying to catch up with stuff I need to get into a University."   "Really? What major are you interested in?" Emilia asked she was excited to learn something about her date she didn't already know from movies. Speaking of which the timeline was a bit screwed, wasn't Jean like 20 in the seventies in the movies. She finally found something that didn't match her knowledge.   "Something relating to architecture I think, I always enjoyed drawing so that works out well,"   "Oh, I used to paint and draw as a hobby, before..." As she trailed off she felt Jean squish her hand and send comforting feelings through her empathy. Emilia smiled thankfully at her.   "It's alright, most of the us have something we don't want to remember in our past," said the redhead, and Emilia could feel sadness cover the girl's aura. Now Emilia repeated what Jean did to her, she didn't try projecting emotions much before so she wasn't sure about its effects but it seemed to have the intended effect as the sad aura left the taller girl.   "Last time we went to a French restaurant what about an Italian one now?" asked Emilia, after a few minutes of them enjoying the other's company and looking around the market. The silence wasn't always bad, especially when you felt the emotions of the other and some of their thoughts.   "Hmm, I just had pizza for lunch today, could we go to another place?" Jean asked.   "Sure, hmm there are all kinds of Mediterranean and Asian restaurants here, Greek maybe or Chinese?" she asked back, raising her eyebrow.   "A Greek Salad doesn't sound bad."   "Greek it is, " said Emilia with a satisfied nod.   They made their way over to a fancy one, still connected by their hands.   As they found a two-seat table Emilia pulled out a chair for Jean which she took with a mischievous smile, "What a gentlelady I  have for a date, " her smile widened as Emilia reddened at her teasing.   Emilia wasn't content with only her being embarrassed so she exaggeratedly said, "It's what a beautiful lady like yourself deserves."   Unfortunately, while she felt a bit of embarrassment from Jean as she said, "Why Thank You," it was overshadowed by the mirth that was dominant in her aura.   With a cough, Emilia also sat down and hid her face behind a menu. Not that it stopped the other girl from enjoying her date's cute behaviour.   After ordering their food, through which Emilia somehow managed not to stutter when Jean's leg touched her own while speaking, Emilia spread a similar field she did on their previous date once their food arrived.   Jean raised an inquisitive eyebrow at that, she couldn't decipher what Emilia was doing only that she did something that felt like telepathy.   "People will ignore us now, they won't remember anything they might hear us say," Emilia clarified, catching the meaning behind the eyebrow.   "So, what would you like to talk about now that we are 'alone'?"   "I, uh, just thought we could speak more freely like this, " Emilia said, feeling like the only thing her heart wanted to do was pump blood to her face since they arrived.   *Couldn't we have spoken like this if that is what you wanted?* reached the thought in Emilia's mind, followed by mirth.   "Oh," Emilia muttered intelligently, " I didn't think of that, I never did this before so sorry if I mess it up..."   *h_e_l_l_o_?* she sent to the terrifyingly powerful mind she felt next to her.   "You need a bit more certainty to it, I got it but it was like a whisper, try with more focus behind it, Jean instructed helpfully.   *Hello!* she, sent this thought too. She felt a bit foolish, all of her powers needed certainty and clarity in her envisioning for them to be effective. Distracting a Psychic suddenly seemed an effective tactic against them. Another entry to the 'Note'.   "Now that was better," said Jean with a smile, *Congratulations* she sent back to Emilia along with the associated feelings.   Emilia took a deep breath through her nose and directed her gaze to Jean's eyes, she really couldn't help but ask this now that she focused on the other girl's mind from so close.   "Jean," she said, "do you know that you have a seal on you?"
