Although the atmosphere had eased, Gu Feining was not in the mood to continue sharing the same table with these people. Although Shi Xi seemed like a good person, there were people she could not afford to provoke. And in particular, Yuan Jinyan and Mi Ke were the two she did not wish to see for even a minute.

Taking advantage of the fact that the livestream had yet to begin, Gu Feining stood up and used the bathroom as an excuse to hurriedly leave the venue. Mi Ke obviously wanted her to leave and Yuan Jinyan probably noticed she was planning to escape. He was about to open his mouth and say something, but stopped himself.

Shi Xi sat in his seat with a smile hanging on the corners of his lips as he watched Gu Feining leave.

Gu Feining called her assistant Xiao Mang as soon as she exited the dinner hall, telling her to come pick her up. She kept calling but no one picked up even after she’d reached the underground parking lot where there was no longer any signal.

She had to rush back to the film set tonight. Today’s party had been added to her schedule at the last minute so she had asked for a leave from the production team and would have to make it back to the film in a rush. If she left early, she would not have to be in such a hurry and it would be beneficial for everyone.

However, upon reaching the parking lot, Gu Feining was stunned. The car park was a lot larger than she’d expected and the number of cars far exceeded what she had imagined. Because a lot of celebrities had come today and the MPVs1 all looked the same. As soon as she looked around, she became dizzy.

Gu Feining held up her dress and looked around for a long time but she could not find her car. Because there was no signal in the car park, her phone could only be used as a decorative item. She started to wonder whether she came out to seek refuge or to suffer.

When she was getting dizzy from all that searching, she used a wall for support as she rested for a while. Both her dress and high heels made her extremely uncomfortable. She wanted to take these high heels off!

While she was taking a moment to rest, she realized the car park was so quiet it was scary. Gu Feining grew more and more uneasy staying there.

All the scenes that occurred in parking lots in many television dramas started to flood her mind continuously, and even though she was normally very brave, she felt a little scared.

While her fear gradually grew, Gu Feining suddenly felt someone approach her from behind. This made her nervousness peak, even affecting her breathing. When she felt the other person was getting close enough to her, she reacted very quickly, whirling around with her handbag. She quickly smashed the bag at the other person. She’d acted in action shows before so she was at least nimble enough to do that. However, when she realized who the person standing behind her was, it was too late to stop herself. Luckily, the other person’s reaction speed was also fast. He quickly avoided the hit by taking a step backward and raised his hand to grab Gu Feining’s wrist.

She had not expected Shi Xi would also come out after she left.

“Why are you still so impulsive?” Shi Xi’s voice was very soft, not sounding as if he was blaming her. In contrast, it even felt affectionate?

Gu Feining found it strange. Actually, she had already found it odd that they were seated at the same table just now. Shi Xi had been looking at her with a glimmer in his eyes that wasn’t quite right. They did not hold the unfamiliarity one would expect from a stranger, and instead seemed to imply they once knew each other.

She was self-aware enough knew Shi Xi was not someone she was qualified to tangle with. Considering how popular and handsome Shi Xi was, if she had ever interacted with him before, it would be impossible for her to forget him.

Gu Feining was still confused when the hand Shi Xi was using to hold her wrist tightened as he moved, forcing her to follow him and stumble two steps to the side.

Gu Feining was stunned for a moment before she started to struggle. She did not need to use much force before he let go of her. He placed both hands in his pockets and calmly signaled her to look towards the entrance of the parking lot.

Gu Feining poked her head out to take a look suspiciously. Her heart almost stopped. It was probably a reporter who had just walked past where they were.

If a reporter took a photo of her and Shi Xi together, tomorrow’s headlines would be explosive. Everyone would probably believe the dating scandal.

“I apologize for my actions just now, I overreacted,” Gu Feining was a little embarrassed. Including how he’d helped her get out of a sticky situation at the table just now, Shi Xi had already helped her twice. If she did not thank him on the spot, it would really be too much.

“It’s fine…” Shi Xi suddenly took a step forward. The distance between the two of them shortened instantly, no longer a distance a pair of strangers should maintain. Shi Xi lowered his head slightly and met Gu Feining’s gaze, “Anyway…”

He purposely dragged this word out, making it seem like there was a hidden meaning behind it, making Gu Feining confused.

“Anyway… what?” Shi Xi was apparently doing it on purpose so Gu Feining’s voice was full of unease.

At such a short distance, when she breathed in, she could smell a faint trace of a musky male perfume. In her trance, she felt like she could almost hear the thumping of a youthful heart that was full of energy.

In the quiet underground car park, the vigorous heartbeat filled her with an ambiguous feeling. His overly refined looks, and the purposeful flirtatious air caused Gu Feining’s heart to skip a beat, as if it were trying to match his rhythm. She also became a little caught up in her emotions.

“Anyway… This isn’t the first time I’ve almost gotten hit by you.” After Shi Xi said that, he flicked Gu Feining’s forehead. His head turned to the side just slightly and his gaze settled on Gu Feining’s ear. There was a mole that looked especially sexy.

“Ah?” Gu Feining fell into deep thoughts as she touched the part of her forehead he had flicked. Has she really encountered Shi Xi before?

When Shi Xi saw the confused Gu Feining, he knew she had forgotten. Hence, he reached out his hand naughtily and slid it across the side of her face, brushing past her ear. Then, said disappointedly, “It’s not fair…”

Gu Feining instinctively reached out her hand to press the side of her face that Shi Xi’s hand had touched. She stood there, stunned, and some images she’d sealed away began to flicker through her mind. In a corner of her memory, someone had been right next to her, kissing her passionately and panting in her ear.

Her body felt electrocuted and she froze.

Gu Feining quickly raised her head to look at Shi Xi. He had already begun to head towards the car opposite them, his back facing Gu Feining, waving her goodbye.

Gu Feining remembered!

Five years ago, on a night she was feeling quite frustrated, the music was booming in a bar with flashing red lights in a way that caused people to feel restless. That was the night that could be definitely recorded in history books as the saddest night of her life. Because she’d drunk too much, she climbed on a table and danced to her heart’s content. The people around her cheered her on. While she was enjoying herself, someone carried her down by her waist and she directly waved her fist at the other person’s face for raining on her party.

But when she saw the other person’s appearance, she changed her mind, deciding to hold the other person’s face and biting it instead.

After that, her memory got blurry and she could only vaguely remember the two of them stumbling out of the bar and heading to the hotel next door.

It was a beautiful night.

The fuzzy outlines of entangled bodies, the other’s strong shoulders and firm chest making her feel enraptured. She seemed to have heard the other person saying his figure was good because he danced.

Gu Feining also felt it was quite good so she touched him all over. A handsome man was the best kind of man to comfort a sad person. After a long passionate night, she ran away.

She had not expected this person… to be Shi Xi!!

At that moment, she was unsure whether to be apprehensive or overjoyed as she had clearly benefited. The guy was Shi Xi! Tens of millions of people wanted to sleep with him.

Shi Xi’s car drove away in front of her eyes, leaving her with mixed emotions.

A weird storm brewed in her heart. She’d thought this was an accident she would not have to take responsibility for. She had never expected the man to find her after so many years.

“Sister Ning Ning!”

Her thoughts were interrupted and Xiao Mang, her assistant whom Gu Feining had been looking for for a long time, finally appeared. Could it be that while she was looking for her, Xiao Mang and the driver were not at the car park and had just arrived?

Gu Feining’s brows creased. Too much had happened today and she was feeling quite perplexed so she could not help but complain, “Where were you? I’ve been looking for you for ages. Didn’t I tell you to wait for me in the car park?”

Xiao Mang pouted, feeling aggrieved, “Sister2 Yue Mei said you have a photoshoot at the airport tonight and since there was some free time, I went back to the company to get some clothes.”

Gu Feining knew she had been too emotional. She held her skirt as she entered the car awkwardly. Xiao Mang didn’t really mind and she followed her onto the car as she asked, “Sister Ning Ning, why did you come out already? Isn’t the dinner supposed to go on for four hours?”

Gu Feining’s expression stiffened. She leaned back into the chair and did not answer, fumbling around to find an eye mask and slipping it on.

When Xiao Mang saw Gu Feining’s guilty look, she exclaimed, “Did you run off in the middle?”

Gu Feining made a noise and kicked the chair, telling the driver to start driving.

Xiao Mang became distraught and she started to complain, “Sister Yue Mei told you to sit for the whole four hours. Did you even sit for four minutes?”

Xiao Mang’s nagging made Gu Feining feel guiltier. Her manager, Yue Mei, had reminded her repeatedly ever since she started to arrange for Gu Feining to attend this event that she definitely could not run out. Even if she felt like she had gotten poisoned after looking at Yuan Jinyan, she needed to sit still until the poison took effect and she died.

In the end, Gu Feining had already died before the livestream began.

Xiao Mang wanted to cry, “It’s such a good opportunity. You could sit at the same table as Shi Xi. That’s something others don’t even dare to think about. Sister, what were you thinking?”

Gu Feining could no longer sit still. She pulled down her eye mask and sat up. Then she stared at Xiao Mang sternly so that she would back off. “It’s not like I’m the only one who left early. Shi Xi also left, why aren’t you nagging him?”

“Shi Xi also left?” Xiao Mang was extremely shocked.

“He left just a second before you came,” Gu Feining laid back down, thinking in her heart that it would finally be quiet.

Xiao Mang, who received this information, no longer bothered Gu Feining and went to report to the manager.

Shockingly, her manager did not scold her for this matter. All she said was that since she got out early, she could go to the airport straight away to be photographed.

Gu Feining only understood why her manager hadn’t been angry when she saw the entertainment news the next day.

The five-year contract Shi Xi had signed when he debuted had expired. The Le Cheng Entertainment Company that Gu Feining worked for had spent a lot of money to recruit him. They even helped him set up his own studio. From that day onwards, Shi Xi became her junior brother under the same company.

And that was not all. The main problem was that Shi Xi had posted about this on Weibo, and had followed a bunch of people.

Gu Feining was one of them.

Translator’s Notes:

Not sure if the car is an MPV, in Chinese, it’s called ‘nanny cars’ (literally). Take note, they’re not actually related. ‘Sister’ is just like a term used in Chinese, tends to seem friendlier etc.
