After that, the two registered for the guild. Nirra and Ellie walked to the quest board to see what was available to rank E adventurers. The quest board only had three available quests for rank E adventurers: the first was to collect any medicinal herbs near the northern forest for the local clinic. The second was to map out a relatively safe area in the forest to set up a lumber site. The third was to clear water slimes near the lake.

"Hmm, which should we go for, sis?" Ellie asked, looking at the three quests available.

"Hmm, let's do the medicinal herbs. "We only need 10 of them." Nirra said as she pulled the pinned parchment from the quest board.

"Alright then, you are older than me. "So, naturally, you're the wiser," Ellie said while she glanced at her sister.

"I'm only 9 minutes older than you." Nirra replied with a deadpan look.

Ellie shrugged as the two of them walked towards the front desk, where the guild maid was waiting for them.

"Hello, we would like to take on this quest," Nirra said, handing the piece of parchment to the guild maid.

The maid nodded and went to stamp the piece of parchment paper that said it was accepted. The maid gave Nirra back the parchment and leaned forward to say something to Nirra.

"You have 3 days to get the required amount of herbs until the quest is announced as void." She said, Nirra nodded and walked to the door where Ellie was waiting.

"All done?" Ellie spoke.

"Yeah, let's get going," Nirra replied.

The two walked towards the gateway that linked the inside of the city to the outside world. Once they stepped outside, they saw the small forested area on the horizon where they could find the required herbs. The two walked for a few minutes to reach it, and once there, they started looking for the herbs they needed.

The forest was very tranquil; the only noise you would hear were from the small inhabitants of the forest, such as rabbits, birds, and even small mice running around free from the touch of this world's civilization.

While they walked, Nirra spotted a faintly glowing object that emitted light near a small puddle on the ground. She then stepped closer and picked up the faintly glowing object. It was a plant that had blue flowers that faintly glowed a blue color and had spiky leaves that protruded from the center. Nirra compared the plant she held to the image of the herb she was carrying on the parchment that detailed their quest.

"Hey sis, what's that?" Ellie said she walked towards her sister, kneeling down beside her.

"I think I found the herbs we are supposed to search for," Nirra said as she let Ellie take a look at the herb.

"I see. It should be easy to spot since it has a faint glow," she said.

"Yeah, let's get to work then," Nirra said. Ellie nodded in agreement as the two searched the area for the herbs.

After about 2 hours of searching, the twins found all 10 herbs they needed to complete the quest. They sat down near the tree as they took a small break while Ellie counted them to make sure.

"7....8....9....10.... Yep, that's all the herbs needed," Ellie said as she placed it inside her sling bag.

"Alright, let's head back then," Nirra said, as she stood up. She then helped her twin sister stand up and started walking to the edge of the forest.

"This was boring," Ellie said while they walked past a branch.

"Just hang in there; we'll get to tackle more dangerous quests in the future," Nirra replied while she walked under a branch.

"I hope it comes by fast," she replied.

A sudden roar came out of nowhere, disturbing the quiet noise of the forest they stood on.

"What was that?..." Ellie said as the twins turned to face the direction of the roar.

"I don't know, it sounds angry," Nirra said, slowly readying her musket.

Two were interrupted by the sudden emergence of a strange figure. They could tell it was female based on her face and body. She leapt from the bushes and stood as she faced the bush where she came from. Another roar left the forest as a huge black bear emerged from the bush.

The girl ran off and dove into another bush. The bad part is that the bear didn't follow her. Instead, it has its sights on Nirra and Ellie.

Without hesitating, Nirra fired off the first round. The lead ball hit the bear in the leg, rendering it incapacitated. The bear roared in pain as it felt its leg pierced by the bullet. Nirra looked at her sister and nodded. Ellie replied with a nod and dashed towards the bear, aiming to strike it down with a clean shash to the head. The bear managed to recover at the last moment and met Ellie's blade with its large claws. The two exchanged blows as Nirra loaded her firearm again. She first loaded it with gunpowder, then the lead ball, and then rammed it all with a long ramrod so it would be tight and snug inside. She then cocked back the hammer and aimed at the bear.

"Ellie! Now!" She shouted as Ellie rolled to the right, evading a right claw hook from the bear.

The bear didn't notice that Nirra had already fired her musket, smoke covering the barrel of the weapon as the lead ball flew towards its target. The bear's head then received an eighth hole as the bullet impacted the nose. It immediately fell to the ground, dead on the spot. Nirra then checked on her sister's condition with a call. "Ellie! Are you ok?"

Ellie looked back at her sister, still sitting on the ground, and gave her a thumbs up, confirming that she was alright. Unknown to the two, the woman who seemingly lured the bear towards them looked at Nirra in shock.

"What kind of weapon is that?....." She spoke in a low voice.
