After the party over at the adventurer's guild, everyone got awarded based on how much they killed, the type of monster they killed, and the aid they gave the frontliners. Nirra was responsible for five orcs, 17 goblins, and, surprising enough, one wyvern. She managed to shoot one down when she saw it flying towards the wall to attack the town, so she was awarded 47 silver coins. Ellie was responsible for 10 orcs and 15 goblins and was awarded 54 silver coins, and Edwina received 50 silver coins for her aid with the frontline adventurers. On their way out, they were intercepted by the elf that had belittled Nirra earlier for her strange weapon.

"Hey.... I just want to apologize for how I acted earlier," she said as she got close to their group.

"I expected elves to be proud of their archery, but what you did earlier was beyond my expectations," Nirra said.

"I know... I just want to apologize, since judging you by your weapon alone was unjust." She said.

"Just keep that prideful nature of elves to a minimum, and I'll forgive you," Nirra replied.

"Thank you; what's your name, by the way?" She said. "Nirra, and yours?" Nirra replied.

"Mariona Neriren, but you can call me Mari," she said.

"Alright, Mari, apology accepted," Nirra announced as the elf sighed in relief.

"Say, how does your weapon work? Is it magic?" Mari asked

"Hey! I want to know too!" Edwina jumped in, keen to know its secrets.

"No, it's not magic. It's actually more closely related to your bow than magic," Nirra answered. Mari then scratched her chin.

"How so?" Mari noticed that Edwina already had her notebook and quill out to record.

"It uses materials that I have to propel a small piece of lead forward." She said this as Edwina started to take notes.

"I see." Mari nodded.

While the girls were chatting near the entrance of the guild, the guildmaster was in his office when a guildmaid walked in.

"Guildmaster Victor, Captain Phillips is waiting for you," she said.

"Let him in." The guild maid bowed and exited the room. Later on, Captain Phillips of the knight regiment sent to aid their battle entered the room.

"Good evening, guildmaster," he said.

"Gold evening, Captain. Please take a seat." Victor motioned for him to sit in one of the chairs that were adjacent to his table. Captain Phillips nodded and sat down.

"I am sure you are aware that these kinds of hordes only happen when someone or something pushed them out of the eastern forest," Phillips said as he sat down with a map on the guildmaster's table.

"I am aware. The only question is, What drove them out of the forest? If it was that many that came out, then there is a high likelihood that the thing responsible is extremely dangerous and powerful." Victor said.

"Yes, this could be a big situation. At worst, it could be a Lord-class dragon." Phillips said, pointing at the mountain range near the forest. "If it is, it could be nested up right here."

"We're not certain, but I will contact the guild leader to see if he could dispatch an S-ranker to deal with this issue," Victor said.

"For now, all we can do is run scout teams to see if they can spot anything." "There are already quests posted on the questboard for anyone who wants to volunteer," Victor added.

"Alright then, my men will be aiding the town's defenders in patrols." Phillips said.

"Now that all the formal things are out of the way, how's your life in the capital, Phil?" Victor said he was changing his attitude.

"Really boring, if I have to say. The wife always hounds me, saying that I'm cheating on her. Plus, I can't do any quests like we used to since I'm not an adventurer anymore," he added with a depressed expression.

"I told you, you shouldn't have accepted the invitation to the knight academy." Rose!" A guildmaid peered out from the door.

"Yes guildmaster?" She said.

"Can you fetch us a drink from downstairs?" He asked as the maid nodded and left.

"Oh yeah, did you see that strange girl earlier?" Phillips said he was thinking about the girl who had that sharp weapon with her.

"Yeah? Are you asking this so you can cheat on your wife? You're trying to find someone to cheat with." Victor said it in a sarcastic way.

"What? No! I would never cheat on her with another woman!" He shouted.

"Hahaha, I'm just messin with you; yes, I did notice her using that weapon of hers," Victor said, smiling.

"That weapon was weird. It can easily one-shot creatures that take a few arrows to kill. What does her profile say about her?" Phillips said.

"Let me get the files," he said as he bent down and opened a drawer in his desk.

"Let me see... Aha! Here she is," he said while pulling a piece of parchment from the drawer.

"So, her name is Nirra Agustine, age 18, she lives with a twin along with her parents, and her class is... Archer?" Philips said as he read through Nirra's bio.

"I've never seen an archer field that weapon." Victor commented.

"It says here she's a ranked D adventurer," Phillips said of her rank.

"Yeah, I guess she's relatively new. She's also one quest away from taking the archer rank-up test," Victor said as Phillips nodded and gave him back the document. Victor grabbed it and put it back inside the drawer.

"I think we should keep an eye on her; she may do some interesting things in the future," Phillips recommended as Victor nodded. "Agreed"

"Here's your drink, guildmaster, captain." The maid from earlier entered the office with two large mugs of beer.

"Thank you, Rose," Victor said as he grabbed the mugs and gave one to Phillips. The guildmaid known as Rose bowed and exited the office later on.

"Cheers to our victory!" Victor said as he raised his mug.

"Cheers!" Phillips then bumped his mug, and the two started drinking and chatting into the night.
