Nirre sighed as he followed the guildmaster into his office. Her troubled expression about her friend did not go unnoticed by the guildmaster. Once they arrived at his office, Nirra explained the events that had happened. Viceroy's expression did not diminish, and he still kept that sharp demeanor with his hands held in a cross while he sat. After the explenation, the Viceroy rubbed his head with his index finger and thumb.

"That Nicholas again," He sighed.

"Who is that person, guildmaster?" Nirra asked. The viceroy lowered his gloved hand and looked at her.

"An A-rank adventurer who is the son of a Baron. He joined the guild not to get power nor to earn fame. He joined because of the female adventurers. He is often seen trying to get into bed with them. I have issued a number of punishments for his behavior, but I cannot remove him from the guild out of fear from his father," He answered.

"I see," Nirra said. "How did he manage to reach A rank in the first place?" She asked.

"His father is a very wealthy man. He paid a guildmaster inside his jurisdiction to promote him to A-rank, he answered.

Nirra's expression indicated disgust. She held her shoulders with her hands in a cross while thinking about her interaction with him earlier.

"I would have to issue another punishment, again. I do advise you to avoid him at all costs until I can find a solution to his behavior," he said, which made Nirra a bit more comfortable.

"How about Lady Ameria?" She remembered what Nicholas said earlier. About calling Ameria a 'traitor' and a 'slave'.

Guildmaster viceroy's expression darkened before speaking. "I trust that you won't speak to her about this?".

"You have my word," Nirra said.

His expression softened a little. "Alright."

"Long before Lady Ameria was promoted to an S-rank, she had come to this city as an escaped slave from a lord who raided a village of elves. Our empire almost went to war because of it, and if it weren't for the crown prince, it would have escalated to a full-blown conflict. Lady Ameria was only a child when they caged her up. Since Elves are known for their beautiful appearance, the lord kept her alive to be used as a personal slave." Nirra recoiled in disdain at the Lord's actions.

"At the age of 17 in eleven years, Lady Ameria managed to escape her prison. She wandered the countryside for months before drifting to this place. She wanted to start a new life free of that lord, but with her age, she was not eligible to apply to become an adventurer. So she wondered the streets with no money, only supplied by the food that was given to her by charity. Since Elves age much slower than us Humans, she would have to wait 4 more years before she was eligible to apply. The previous guildmaster, in a generous act, took her inside the guild, and she earned a small living off of general maintenance of the building." Nirra then felt sad as she heard Ameria's story. The suffering she had to endure in the streets must have been harsh, especially in this world where people are less kind to beggars in the streets compared to her old world.

The guildmaster stood and walked towards the window that gave him and Nirra a beautiful view of the city from the top of the guild. Nirra followed him as he continued the story.

"When she lived here, the guildmaster also trained her to fight and defend herself, and when she turned 18 in elven years, she joined the guild as a swordsman. She slowly worked her way up from there, earning money while also paying back the guildmaster who took her in, even though said guildmaster never wanted anything in return for his kindness. Everything seemed to be alright for Ameria, until one night came." He stopped for a second before turning back to Nirra.

"I do not know the full details of the events that happened. I'm only basing the events on eyewitness accounts." Nirra nodded and took whatever the guildmaster was about to say with a grain of salt.

"Supposedly, one night after Lady Ameria and the guildmaster returned from a training session, they were attacked by hooded figures." Nirra then remembered the people who attacked her earlier who wore hoods. "They gravely injured the guildmaster while he protected Lady Ameria. Witnesses later saw her running around a corner crying while her clothes were smeared in blood. Due to that fact, everyone thought she murdered the guildmaster, which Lady Ameria denied multiple times. But they never listened to her plea. She was eventually driven out of the city and we never heard from her since. Until news of her becoming an S rank adventurer. Her name was eventually cleared by her fellow S rank adventurer who had proven her innocent, by arguing that she was defending herself and the blood on her clothes were from the perpetrators, but some people to this day still blame her for the incident." He finished with a saddened expression.

"And was the body of the previous guildmaster found?" Nirra asked in a low voice she also found herself  tearing up, Heartbroken, about Ameria's past.

"No, When people came to witness the scene of the crime, they only found a dried-up puddle of blood," he explained.

"I see. Were the real perpetrators caught?" Nirra asked, hoping that justice would take action.

"No, no one ever saw hooded figures after the event," He explained with a sad demeanor.

"I was attacked by hooded figures earlier today. Do you think they're the same people?" Nirra asked, which made the guildmaster sharpen his eyes once again.

"Possibly, but we do not have enough evidence to draw a conclusion. Now, do not let Lady Ameria know I told you this," he said as he sat back down on his seat.

"Of course, guildmaster," Nirra replied. "Also, I managed to take out a few of them in an alley near the shopping district. As well as this" She then brought out the spike one of the figures dropped earlier. Nirra handed Viceroy the spike, the latter started inspecting it.

"It seems like it's a type of sedative" He said as he looked at the tip very closely. "I am not sure though, I'll pass it to our resident alchemist for further inspection. Good work Ms Agustine, thanks to you we may have a lead in our hands" He placed the spike inside an envelope and placed it on top of his desk as he sat down.

"I will deploy more adventures on search parties to look for these people. I will inform you once they find a anything more regarding the perpetrators. I will also dispatch some adventurers to clean up and examine the suspects you have killed." He said as he placed his hands on the desk and crossed his fingers.

"Understood. Thank you, guildmaster," Nirra said.

"With that, you are excused." He then opened a book and started writing words on its pages.

Nirra left the office afterwards. She still felt sadness for Ameria after all she had been through. She sighed deeply, regaining her composure, before traveling down the steps and stepping outside the guild.
