After their lunch, the twins left the building. As they went down the winding road that led back to the inn, Ellie sparked up a conversation.

"So, which next step do you want to take next?" she asked, walking beside her sister.

"I was thinking I'd give you the chance of picking one for yourself. I always pick the quest, so I guess you can try and pick one for us to do." Nirra answered with a smile.

"Aha, finally. I get to choose!" Ellie exclaimed, pumping her first in the air.

"Let's save it for tomorrow; we are resting for today after all," Nirra reminded them as they continued walking down the street.

After a few minutes of waiting, the two were greeted with the sight of a paladin. Said paladin was waiting outside of a small alley, his arms crossed as he had his large longsword sheathed behind his back. His armor is gleaming white with gold trims along the edges, and his face is covered by an equally decorated helm. The helm has an angled plate covering the mouth and nose to protect them from arrows. The eye slits were shaped sharply, which gave off a threatening tone. On said plate is an insignia of a human spreading his arms while a golden halo bathes him in holy light. The paladin has this exact same insignia also on his chest and knee caps, which are designed in gold.

Before the Paladin could sense their presence, Nirra pulled Ellie to a nearby walla that blocked their view of him.

"Is that what I think it is?" Ellie whispered as she took a peek at the paladin to see if he had spotted them.

"Yeah, I guess those priestesses need protection after all." Nirra gritted her teeth while she took another peek at the Paladin.

Lucky for them, the paladin stood motionless like a statue, which indicated that they had not been spotted.

"What do we do, sis? We can't let them see you." Ellie tried to think of a plan to not get noticed.

"I know. I guess we have to wait till he moves and hope he doesn't approach us," Nirra whispered as she inspected the ammo for her revolver.

"Only six shots... I should've brought my bandolier with me," she cursed under her breath as they prepared themselves.

After what felt like months, they noticed the paladin move; his body turned away from them, and he was now facing the exit of the alley.

From the alley, they saw a hooded woman. Her cloak was designed with the symbols and insignias the paladin had, but they were engraved into the fabric. They could not see her face because the hood was hiding it, and after chatting with the paladin for a minute or two, the duo started walking away from them.

"That was close." Ellie breathed a sigh of relief as they saw their figures slowly disappearing into the buildings in the background.

"The guildmaster did warn us; we have to avoid them because they most likely know what I look like," Nirra said under her breath before standing back up. "Come on, we have the rest of the day to enjoy ourselves." She flashed a smile at Ellie.

"Sure, sis, let's talk about this later with Lady Ameria," Ellie said as she followed her sister back into the inn.

The rest of the day was very uneventful. Nirra spent her time tinkering with her weapons and coming up with ways to improve them. Ellie polished her blades and throwing knives, and Ameria merely played with mofu in her room. The small fox was happy when Ameria fed him a slice of garlic bread later that day.

Once evening came and the sun hung low in the sky, Ellie motioned for Ameria to join her with Nirra. Indicating that they wanted to share some information with her.

As Ameria entered the room, she placed Mofu on the ground. The small fox gave off a "mofu" before he cuddled up in his little corner, where he usually sleeps.

"So, what is this about?" Ameria asked as she sat down on a wooden chair provided by Nirra. She noticed Nirra's weapons lying disassembled on a nearby desk and thought that this was the first time she had seen the interior of her weapon.

"We had an encounter with a paladin earlier." Ellie immediately cut to the chase as she leaned on the wall near the doorway.

Ameria's eyes opened wide in surprise as she said, "Were you spotted?"

Nirra rubbed her hands on a nearby cloth to get rid of the dust on it. "No, I managed to get out of sight before he noticed."

Ameria breathed a sigh of relief. "Good."

"A priestess from the church also came out of the alleyway where the paladin was standing guard too." Ellie recalled, "What does that mean?" She crossed her arms as she said so.

"They're sweeping the city, probably trying to crackdown on the activities of the cult." Nirra voiced her idea.

"Most likely, that's why there's only one paladin and one preistess." Ameria voiced her thoughts as she held her chin.

"We just need to avoid contact with them for now until we know what they're going to do to Nirra once they find her," Ameria advised.

"Let's go with that," Ellie agreed. "So what kind of quest do you want for tomorrow?" she added.

"You choose; we'll just follow with whatever," Nirra said while she took a glance at Ameria for her approval. The latter nodded in agreement.

"Alright then, let's get some rest before we head out early tomorrow," Ellie said before she opened the door.

"Agreed, good night, you two, Ameria said with a soft smile.

"Yeah, I'll see you in the morning, sis," Ellie added as she left, following Ameria. The door to Nirra's room also closed behind them.

"Now that it's set," Nirra said before she took a look at her room.

"I should probably clean this up," she signed as she began the work of cleaning the room.

She went to bed later that night after taking a nice shower. Mofu also woke up in the middle of the night, took his place on top of the sleeping Nirra, and continued sleeping.
