Over dinner...
Hana, Mary, and I are eating the meal that Mei cooked, while Mei is cleaning off to the side.
Both of my wives are looking at Mei Xia's documentation, which I already went over earlier, and I have been slowly explaining some of the events that transpired during my birthday. Naturally my true hacking skill and Mei's true job is also being played down to protect the Yellow Emperor secrets.
No it's not a trust issue, but we don't know how the Central Government, China Empire, or the fact it is truly not believable would play out. This is history wiped from history classes after-all, so naturally spreading the information could even ignite conflict between the two nations.
So Mary, having heard a bit about Mei due to my run-ins with Scott over the years, asked.
"So what you're saying is, Miss Xia was here illegally due to her documents expiring, you found out, and the twins had used it to get her deported to spite Scott? The investigators in charge of interrogating her, trumped up charges to get her kicked out faster."
I nod and look a bit ashamed.
"That is the official story, and she was proven by the government to be innocent and was given full citizenship and is not forced to leave the country anymore. And this international incident had brought even the likes of grandfather's name into it."
Mary and Hana see my eye twitch having to use my grandfather's name in this, but Hana asks.
"Okay the part of her being falsely accused I follow and her name being cleared I also follow, but why did she not go back to the Tang? And why come to us?"
I take a deep breath and think on my words.
"Even though she was declared innocent and pardoned of everything, the stigma of being deported and how it happened will haunt her work record for life. If she went back to the Tang she would not be treated well or with trust by them always looking over their shoulder. And the number one reason... Scott did not treat her well."
Mei started to take everyone's empty dishes and I continued.
"And due to my broken relationship with grandfather, he and the government in apology to Mei gave her paid work to come and take care of me and our family. Not only is Mei a skilled maid she is also a nanny and bodyguard, much like Mercy Mu next-door. So the real reason she is here is to watch over us and shield us while being our full-time maid. This also shows the nation that General Lee trusts her around his estranged grandson."
Mary knows there is a bit more to the story, but hearing the government put her here is telling her detective-nose that it must be serious, like I need protection, and this maid is it.
Hana can tell I look helpless like I did not have a lot of say in hiring Scott Tang's ex-maid, but her gut tells her that I am trusting her even with our complicated background, so she is leaving much of this to Mary.
Mei Xia, then done with the kitchen work, sees the three of us in thought and offers.
"If I may suggest... How about giving me a month to prove myself, and if you the wives of young master Lee are not satisfied with my work, I can ask the government for something else? I do not wish to cause discomfort in your home."
Mary squints her eyes and asks her.
"So you basically work for the government, right? And your job is to take care of Rick, correct?"
Mei knowing Mary is sharp does not expose everything but says.
"Yes Mrs Lee, my job is to make sure master Lee is safe and well taken care of. Think of me as a bodyguard if that helps, but I am a real maid, Mrs Lee."

"So what you are saying is, if it is not you by Rick's side, someone else may be?"

"Although master Rick is not in his family's registry, they still are watching from afar, I believe. I am sure if it is not me it would be someone else to look over master Rick."

"Then is this an order, job, or your decision."

"All three, but the last one is the biggest reason. This maid would even give her life to save young master Rick."

"What are your thoughts, I don't want you to just roll with it?"

"Although much is not said here, the fact that she is standing here after that incredible story is proof that our government trusts her. Another point is Rick is trying to avoid too many secrets he can't speak of, which means this maid sent by his family and government is something special and complicated. And Mary, I still will leave this decision in your hands this time, but I know Rick would not do anything to harm our family."
I really feel loved by the fact, Hana is so trusting of me. I really scored big in the wife lottery to find her. Mary sighs and looks at me, she then asks.
"And how do we explain to others about hiring Miss Xia? Have you two come up with anything? Also, young master feels wrong in my ears, can you just call him Rick, Lee, or Mr Lee?"

Mary, Hana, and I all had interesting expressions on our faces, why, because hiring her to piss off Scott is so fucking believable it hurts me a bit inside.

"Mei Xia, it seems we will be hiring you, so what about living arrangements, pay, and schedule?"
Mei Xia deep inside is happy it is going better than she expected, and then tells the two women.
"As for my salary, I am paid monthly and it is already fully paid for. Living arrangements I have told Young-, no I told Rick that I shall sleep in the downstairs servants quarters. As for schedule? I am a full-time maid and will be helping in the household work and driving Rick to and from University to assure no issues arise, if this is alright for you. Length of time... Hopefully long term meaning I have done my job well keeping Rick safe."
Mary nodded to her explanation not seeing it as a major issue and she asked her another question.
"How long did you work for the Tang and what about Scott?"
Reasonable and expected questions, Mei tells the two wives.
"I am now 20 years old, and I immigrated to Eurasia just as I turned 18 and was a legal adult, that is when I was hired as Scott Tang's personal maid. As far as Scott? I will leave it to your imagination how my life with him was for two years. But if I have to choose 100 times him or Rick, then Scott would get Zero times while Rick would be chosen a hundred times. "So, you tamed them by not taming them? No, that makes sense to me. It's like capturing a wild animal. Don't know if you are a genius or just lucky with women?"
I pulled up another chair for her to sit while I explained some of my program's and how she can help monitor for me in her spare time. And no freaking duh, I naturally give her limited access to what she can and can't do on my computer, because I am not totally retarded.
And no this super-spy is not better than me with my own computer, not even with outside help. If she shares any of my files, the servers that intruded will be crippled with my malicious viruses. Like I said, I am not retarded.
I even put a modified version of my Cat and Mouse App on her phone to find most of my traced targets, mainly enemies and myself. She will be sent alerts from my App when it is important, like if Mary or Hana need help and she is closer, she will be alerted.
After two hours of modifying and teaching Mei Xia what I needed her to do, she was playing with Cat and Mouse and she told me.

Like a specter, Mei Xia had been behind me due to her Stealth ability being way higher than mine and I was spooked to no end, jumping over the couch in an acrobatic roll to escape!
With mischief in her eyes, she covered her mouth giggling and said to the pale me.

Getting up embarrassed, I tell her.
"Damn, you almost made me reincarnate by sending my soul away! Mei don't do that. So how much did you hear?"
"Most of it, but Rick, if I didn't know that was actually Nadia and Nichole, I would never believe it! Those two are normally very cutthroat and ruthless, how did you tame them?"
I turn on the computer and say to her.
"That's the thing, I never tamed them. They have had me running around their fingers from the start. I just fell for their quirky personalities."
Mei came to just behind my shoulder and she said with realization.
"So, you tamed them by not taming them? No, that makes sense to me. It's like capturing a wild animal. If you put them in a cage and tell them what to do, they are resentful, but you just feed and pet them while letting them be wild, so they actually care for you? Don't know if you are a genius or just lucky with women?"
I pulled up another chair for her to sit while I explained some of my program's and how she can help monitor for me in her spare time. And no freaking duh, I naturally give her limited access to what she can and can't do on my computer, because I am not totally retarded.
And no this super-spy is not better than me with my own computer, not even with outside help. If she shares any of my files, the servers that intruded will be crippled with my malicious viruses. Like I said, I am not retarded.
I even put a modified version of my Cat and Mouse App on her phone to find most of my traced targets, mainly enemies and myself. She will be sent alerts from my App when it is important, like if Mary or Hana need help and she is closer, she will be alerted.
After two hours of modifying and teaching Mei Xia what I needed her to do, she was playing with Cat and Mouse and she told me.
"Rick, you asked me what your path would be earlier, and looking at this, I see it now..."
Getting ready to go to be with my two wives I asked her in surprise.
"Oh? What will my legacy be in this world?"
With sparkly eyes she holds up her phone showing me the App.
"I think you will be remembered as the man who revolutionized the cyber-world on Pangaea. Your ideas are incredible! This alone has so many wonderful things for safety, assassination, monitoring, and even everyday life tracking. I think it's not your computer skills but your ideas that will change the world."
She looks like a woman of 20 who found a new toy, instead of an orphaned street-rat turned Black-Widow.
Her smile and excitement made me for a moment forget the strange situation I found myself in.

Then I walked up to the comfort of my lover's arms.
