Andrea left me alone, staring at the ground, and walked towards Alan, untying Alan’s rope. As soon as Alan was free, he ran towards me.

“Narcissus, are you okay?” Alan’s white priestly robe was stained with dark patches here and there. He seemed more concerned about me than himself. Despite thinking that way, I nodded my head silently.

“What about Alan?”

“I’m fine, but… Oh, Brother, I will heal you with divine power.” Alan urgently grabbed Andrea. Andrea, in pain, didn’t resist. Soon, light emanated from Alan’s hands. As the light enveloped Andrea’s body, the wounds on his face and body disappeared.

The swollen eyelids and twisted nose returned to normal. The torn lips, the forehead with a gash – everything became normal. Looking at the relaxed expression and posture, it seemed like even the invisible wounds were healed.

“Thank you, priest.”

Andrea playfully winked and said, completely different from when he desperately called my name earlier.

As Alan withdrew his hand, Andrea rotated one arm. He also bent his waist in different directions.

“The wounds are healed, and the pain is gone, but strength doesn’t easily return. The injured parts are weaker than usual. To recover, you must rest and stabilize.”

Alan spoke, but Andrea just shrugged his shoulders with a cheerful smile. Without saying much, both Alan and I understood what it meant.

We needed to escape from Sablum now. There was no time to rest and recover. And in the process of escaping, Andrea would be the one facing the most difficulties. He had to protect us, the weak ones.

“Just a moment.”

Andrea said that and approached the corpses he had cut down.

“I need to check if there’s more of that strange powder.”

“It’s called Waroom, that powder.”

I spoke. Andrea nodded and began rummaging through the clothes of the corpses. As I watched him, Alan’s palm suddenly covered my eyes.

“If its hard to look at. You don’t have to see it.”

Then Alan used his divine power on me too. As a warm and refreshing energy flowed in, my mind calmed a bit. However, Alan spoke as if something was odd.

“Earlier, I couldn’t see it clearly because I was in a hurry, but your progress has increased a lot.”

Progress?

I wet my throat and looked up at the information floating above my head, similar to Andrea and Alan.

[Del Narcissus / Youngest son of the Count / Daffodil of the Empire / Progress 62]

“When I last saw you, the progress was 8.”

I had met Alan a very long time ago and parted ways. With no memory, I could only guess.

What could this “progress” be? I asked Alan, but he also didn’t seem to know. Useless comments about it being related to Eura were made. As Alan stopped using divine power, the character information above my head disappeared.

“Well, since you’ll be with you for a while, let’s gradually figure out what this ‘progress’ is about,” I said. Upon hearing that, Alan’s expression turned strange – a mix of joy and sadness.

“Why… Why?”

“Because you’ll be with me… I don’t think Narcissus knows what that means.”

…Yes, I don’t know.

The calm and atmosphere of the priest, crying at my words, stirred a strange emotion within me.

At that moment, Andrea approached us, holding four leather pouches in his hand.

“I think this is all we got. Still, it should be enough for a few uses.”

His face, now healed, looked handsome and confident as usual. His affectionate pink eyes turned towards me.

“Well done, Del.”

And he added as if joking,

“At first, I almost cried, thinking Del truly hated me.”

I stared at Andrea. Look at this guy, pretending to joke. He almost cried. Hanging on with a face as if the world had collapsed.

Next to me, Alan asked,

“But how did you know that Del Narcissus was lying?”

Andrea smiled mischievously and locked eyes with me.

“I really like sweet things.”

It was true. Andrea liked sweet things. So, I deliberately said the opposite to convey that everything I’m saying is a lie. Fortunately, he understood and played along.

“Shall we go now?”

Andrea pointed to the door with his chin.

“No one is in front of the door. But this building is farthest from the entrance.”

I shared the information I got from the servants earlier.

“The servants standing in front of the house have disappeared with me and the teacher is tied up in the bathroom.”

At my last words, both Andrea and Alan looked at me simultaneously.

“What do you mean the teacher is tied up in the bathroom?”

Alan asked with disbelief, and I kindly explained,

“I soaked a towel in water and used it to suffocate the teacher. Then tied him up and left him in the bathroom.”

Alan’s eyes widened, and Andrea turned his head, holding back laughter. Andrea patted my head and said,

“Good job, Del.”

Getting praised by someone skilled in fighting made me feel strangely proud. Andrea, while laughing loudly, pointed at the door.

“Now, shall we go see?”

Still, there was no one outside the building. We closed the door and securely wrapped the heavy iron chain around it. Although we couldn’t lock it, just untangling the intricate chain would take quite some time.

“We need to get horses,” Andrea said, leading me and Alan. He seemed to know where Sablum kept the horses, having discreetly observed the village while acting as my guard.

The stables were not far from the warehouse. We did see a few villagers on the way, but it was easy to hide thanks to the setting sun. Since they were spending an ordinary night like any other, there was no reason to think that someone would be hiding.

Sablum’s stable was enormous. We cautiously entered, lowering our bodies to ensure the horses wouldn’t get startled or excited. Fortunately, the horses remained calm. It was me who was surprised.

“W-Well, horses are originally this big, aren’t they…?”

However, as I looked to the side, I realized I wasn’t the only one surprised. Andrea and Alan also looked bewildered as they stared at the horses.

It wasn’t without reason, as the horses in the stable were all gigantic, with bodies the size of houses and bright blue eyes. Their thick manes, well-defined muscles and shiny bodies were almost intimidating.

“This is… like a mythical creature.”

Andrea murmured.

“In the desert, horses aren’t an efficient means of transportation, so it seems they’ve tamed mythical creatures instead.”

Alan said, shaking his head in awe.

“Still, it’s impressive. How can they manage to tame such creatures…”

“Let’s put aside the surprise for now and get out.”

Andrea approached a horse-like creature. As it looked at Andrea, it snorted heavily. Fortunately, it didn’t make a loud noise, but it raised one front leg, trying to threaten Andrea. Even though it lifted just a bit, its massive shadow loomed large.

But Andrea wasn’t standing still. Clenching his fist, he struck the creature’s chest forcefully. While its body looked tough, the sound suggested it must have hurt quite a bit.

The horse-like creature that took the hit froze in surprise. The other mythical creatures in the stable had a similar reaction, instinctively sensing the presence of a creature stronger then themselves.

Ignoring the tension among the creatures, Andrea searched the stable and found horse reins, bridles, and saddles. He proceeded to equip two of the creatures, including the one he had just struck, with reins and saddles.

“Priest, you know how to ride, right?”

“I can ride a horse, but… how do you ride these creatures?”

“Just give it a try.”

Andrea said so and effortlessly mounted one of the creatures. Though I was intimidated, surprisingly, the creatures, probably used to being ridden by Sablum warriors, remained calm.

“Del, come here.”

Andrea extended his hand to me. As I took his hand, he exerted strength in his arm, pulling me up to sit in front of him. I settled in the front seat smoothly.

‘It seems he’s quite experienced in carrying many people.’

Suddenly, that thought crossed my mind. But then, I felt uncomfortable. Has he ever carried the person he secretly has feelings for? No. That person didn’t even know of Andrea’s existence. Then who was that person?

While I was deeply lost in thought, Alan also safely mounted one of the creatures. From behind, Andrea spoke.

“From now on, we have no choice but to stand out. It’s a battle of speed.”

Alan nodded confidently as he looked at us. I held the reins tightly, and Andrea slammed down the reins. It was time for departure.
