Episode 76

His reputation is the god of alcohol, though. Dionysus scratched his throat and zipped his lips together; sweet liquor surrounded his tongue and esophagus with a fascinating rich aroma and taste. He could taste it in his mouth even now as he remembered.

It was a drink he desired to taste again. He thought he had not tasted it properly. Knowing fully well it was dangerous, he still craved to touch it again because he usually had an unrestrained personality and did not know how to control himself.

Dionysus picked up a rolling golden chalice and filled it with wine. He rinsed his mouth and swallowed it in one gulp. Eutostea looked at him, shocked that he was drinking again as soon as he woke up.

“Because I’m thirsty. My drink is safer than yours,” he grinned, widening his wine-stained lips.

Apollo’s eyes fluttered lightly, Dionysus noticed. Was he finally waking up? Apollo turned sideways and mumbled to himself.

“So it was a dream.”

He was showing symptoms similar to himself. Dionysus wondered a little about what the god of prophecy would have dreamt of. No, he was not curious. He wanted the god of prophecy to wake up and get the h*ll out of here. This narrow inner room is a private space meant for Eutostea was a mess because two adult men as big as bears preoccupied it.

“He’s a long way from waking up. It would be a lethal dose if a human drank it even if they don’t drink much. It’s literally poison, not strong liquor. I didn’t know the effect of my priest’s alcohol was so great. It’s amazing.”

“I was also very surprised by the danger. That’s why this ability is too much.”

“Did I give you an excessive gift? Or did Hestia appreciate your ability as a priest?”

“Whatever the case, it would be my destiny,” Eutostea said in a resigned tone. “Did you dream, too, Lord Dionysus?” She glanced over him for a moment, lamenting over the fact that the image of the god she was serving was a complete mess, and asked him, as she remembered his sleep-talking earlier.

“Yes.”

Eutostea put down the lamp next to the bed with a curious look on her face. The dreams of the gods were different from those of humans. A sip of alcohol would not be enough to make him lose his mind and have a dream. She did not think she should use that alcohol carelessly. A sense of alarm arose within her.

“You’re not asking for details?”

Dionysus said the same thing that Apollo once said. In a sense of deja vu, Eutostea alternated between Apollo on the floor and her main god in front of her eyes.

“I’m not curious.”

She was curious. Anne. Someone’s name. But is it a name she should know? Eutostea, rethinking her position thought that there was more to ask Dionysus than that.

“What I’m curious about is Artemis’ curse. I know you’re hiding something from me without telling me everything. I was sure of Apollo’s attitude toward me. Well, is that curse related to my memory?”

“You’re clever.”

Dionysus opened his lips and held the wine to his mouth. It would have been better if she were dull. Eutostea would stare at him with a blunt look until she gets the answer she wants. She must have cast a spell on her alcohol to make him tell the truth. Dionysus’ mouth opened by itself, even though he was reluctant.

“It’s a curse of oblivion. When Apollo realized the special feelings he had for you, Artemis cursed you so that you could not remember him alone so that the love of her brother would not come true. Even if you remembered everything else.”

“How come?”

“Why, is your memory intact? It’s because my power countered that curse. Remember you spent the night with me the other day? Then my strength overpowered the power of Apollo and gained dominion over your body. As long as you’re my priest, his strength will disappear without a trace. I don’t care how many times he’s hugged you before but you are my priest, Eutostea. You’re my woman.”

It was a declaration of war.

Eutostea clenched her fist quietly. It was once again the moment her fate was in control. Her fate was never hers to control.

Dionysus saw the reaction and did not stop talking. He just thought she was surprised by Artemis’ wrath. It was no pleasure to be targeted by the brother and sister the goddess Leto gave birth to.

Dionysus put down his drink and looked at the side face of Apollo lying on the far corner.

“But that moron doesn’t even know that and will keep coming. He said he’d imprint himself in your memory. You’re not under a curse, but you’re in the position of watching that ridiculous thing. Of course, I can tell him the truth, but I don’t like it. I’m not doing it. Just leave him to grovel by himself. That arrogant b*stard… you stay by my side. With my warriors, leopards, and this temple you’re going to decorate. Stay by my side. Eutostea.”

“Did I have a choice in the first place? Did I have the right to reject the offer?” Eutostea asked. Her voice cracked at the end. In resignation, there was a fit of light anger that obscured her true self.
