“Arrayist Ken, you’re finally back,” Commerce Head Rojja said, smiling wide at the crippled Arrayist. It seemed that he was in a good mood.

“I’m sorry for taking so long, but I had quite a lot of work to attend to.”

“A small matter,” Rojja said, leading Ken inside. Ken situated himself within the room, finding that the furniture had been moved slightly so that he could move easier within his wheelchair.

“Have you been well?” Ken asked, sipping some of the tea which had been poured for him. He was surprised to taste the familiar peach tea his mother had made for him, causing his eyebrows to move upwards.

[Does he know?]

“Is it to your taste?” Rojja asked, noting that Ken hadn’t ever reacted like that before. He wondered if the tea was no good.

“It is,” Ken replied. “This tea is one of my favourites.”

He recalled his mother pouring the tea for him during the evenings, after many hours of training. His body was always sore, and though it always hurt, the peach tea had been a moment of relief, sitting alongside his mother.

“I will prepare some peach tea for you to take home.”

“I will put in an order for some peach tea,” Ken said, placing down a gold coin.

Rojja looked down to the gold coin and then back up to Ken. “I will send someone to deal with it.”

“Thank you,” Ken replied, placing down his hand again and then taking out some pills for the Commerce Head. “Here are some more pills for your commerce pavilion.”

“A please, as always,” Rojja replied, taking the pills and sending someone to display them.

“I’ve also brought a few more items,” Ken said, placing down a few high grade earth talismans, each of differing arrays. He then placed down a low grade mountain pill too, one which Emerald had made from their fun.

“You always bring me such delightful gifts when we meet,” the Commerce Head said, smiling wider. “Do you wish to auction them as well?”

“Yes. You can take a high grade earth talisman as payment.”

“There’s no need for that. Our business is always fruitful.”

“Take it as an apology for neglecting you for the last month, then.” Ken was overbearing for a reason. He wanted to make sure those who looked after him were treated well by him in return.

The Commerce Head gave in to Ken, not wishing to cause a rift for no reason. Though he had wanted to refuse to show Ken his sincerity, he couldn’t give up on Ken’s sincerity either.

“I’d like to see what offers have been made for the items currently.”

Rojja reached into his robes and took out a stack of papers, some of them collected together in the corner with a piece of string. Each of the different lots had many families bidding, and it seemed that he had ordered them on the date of the bid, and he even labelled updated bids separately.

“I’m impressed by how thorough you are,” Ken said, scanning through the papers.

“It’s the bare minimum that is expected of us,” Rojja replied back with a wider smile. “I will excuse myself while you work.” Rojja left Ken to check through the bids peacefully.

Ken sipped on his tea and then continued to scan through the various offers. Every time he saw the name of Bluewind or Blackdeer, he tore up the offers without even looking at what they written down, using his fire to burn the remnants.

He noted how many offers had come from smaller families. Though they didn’t have as much wealth as the larger families, they certainly showed him great sincerity. They offered a fair amount considering their wealth. Some offered certain treasures, others offered herbs and other rare items, and a few even offered martial art manuals. It wasn’t just any martial art manuals either, since most of them offered full sets of techniques.

Ken hadn’t expected martial art manuals, but seeing how many had been offered, and seeing that he didn’t have many techniques, he decided to give them the most attention.

Some families offered favours, especially those of the greater families. Ken wasn’t keen on such favours, since it was too vague. They could easily bully him to accept a lesser favour. There were two families which even offered him a Martial Warrior which had been trained by their prestigious family, though Ken doubted it was someone actually from their family, but rather a family member of their servants.

Most families bid on multiple items, though they didn’t apply to each of them with the same level of sincerity. They definitely hedged their bets though, something which Ken could only respect.

His eyes scanned a few familiar names.

Firewind. Wildroar. Newblade.

Since these families had helped him in some way, he accepted their offers, but had to pause when they all bid on the same lots.

“How should I deal with this?” He didn’t want to offend any of them, though he also didn’t want to accept the best offer, otherwise it would be the Firewind family which would take most of the lots, and Wildroar would take a couple too. Ken thought about it for a short while, wondering how he could navigate the issue. He stared at the various bids, and then sighed.

[No need to stress myself about these offers first.]

He first dealt with the few other bids which he gave to other families. He didn’t accept those who offered him the most, but those who offered him the most sincerity. It was easy to offer a lot if one was a main family, but if there was a smaller family offering a large number of items or even great techniques, he accepted their bids, even if they weren’t quite as good as other bids. The families which offered him mostly gold coins were all but ignored.

Then came the matter of when the three families bid on the same lot. He tapped his finger on the table. Eventually, he chose to give the greatest lots to the Firewind family, then the slightly lesser lots to the Wildroar, and the minimal lots to the Newblade family.

Though there were families which had increased their bids in the end, he looked after the families which had helped him out first.

He realised he didn’t see the commerce pavilion offer any bids, though considering how much favour he had shown them, did they need to?

He smiled to himself.

Now that he had made a small fortune, he didn’t need to worry about his finances for a long while. He had more than enough coin and items now to start a small sect, or a minor family in a village. However, that wasn’t why he was gaining all these items.

It had taken a few hours to sort everything through, since he had to weight a large number of things together. Eventually he handed the winning bids to Rojja personally.

“I’ll send word immediately,” Rojja said.

“I’ll have a few more lots that I’ll bring to you later. I’ll offer you a few more high grade earth pills or talismans for each one.”

“It’s a pleasure doing business with you.”

“You as well,” Ken replied back, waving his hand as he left.

He had worked hard the past few weeks, so he decided to head to an inn and call it an early night. He didn’t even eat dinner, instead heading right to bed. Emerald held his head to her bosom, and sneakily sniffed at his hair.

He reached up to rub along her arm, smiling up at her. She noted the smile in his eyes and smiled in return.

“You’ve worked hard,” Emerald said, reaching up to brush his head.

“You too.”

“Not as hard as master.”

“No, you’ve worked much harder.” He pulled her down to kiss her nose. “I’ll take you on a date tomorrow.”

“A date, master?”

“It’s been a while since we’ve had time to ourselves, hasn’t it?”

“It has.” Emerald smiled, though she couldn’t help but be worried. She pulled his head to her bosom a little harder, and he was squished up against her tits.

“Emerald, I can’t breathe!” Ken gasped against her chest.

“Sorry, master.” Emerald turned slightly red, and then returned to cuddling with him.

Ken sighed. Though he could get his revenge, he decided to leave it be. Emerald had worked hard for him, and he couldn’t punish her too much. Though he had many worries, he decided to get rid of them, instead thinking about what kind of date he’d take her out on tomorrow.

“Good night, Emerald.”

“Good night, master.”

Ken hoped nothing would go wrong tomorrow.
