He is wearing an unbranded white shirt that you can buy in any store, a pair of 501 jeans that had been washed too many times, it got tattered, but then, ripped jeans were now a thing.

He had his duffel bag slung on his shoulder with his leather jacket, his left hand was holding his phone pressed to his ear.

He came unannounced and uninvited but when he approached the lobby and showed his passport to the concierge he was granted access to get on the elevator to his surprise.

Jess has been living in this apartment for about four years now, but he has never been there. They don't have the best relationship, thus, it came as a surprise that he was listed as someone who was allowed to be in her apartment.

He tapped his foot, wearing Grenson's Fred ankle boots as he cocked his head to his right, eyeing the man behind Jess.

A look quite familiar was on his face, he couldn't help but grin.

"Hey, young man, are you boning my daughter?"

"Papa!?" She exclaimed in a reprimanding tone to her degenerate father, who still happened to act like an immature child most of the time.

'Papa?' Luke dropped the predatory gaze that he has been giving the man in front of Jess's door that she just called Papa.

"Hello, Nugget," he smiled fondly at his first-born daughter. He longingly watched her face that she mostly got from her mother. The woman that was his first love and probably true love — but definitely not his only love for he has other women where he fathered other daughters too.

But this one, in front of him, is the most stubborn one. Just like her mother. He clicked his tongue inwardly, thinking how he misses her.

Luke smirked inwardly, hearing what Jess's father just called her. Nugget — the same pet name Jess used with Lucille.

Things are getting so interesting, especially with the fact that Jess has a father who looks like  George Clooney and Brad Pitt had a son together.

But this man, oozing with sex appeal that made his throat dry like the Sahara desert, happened to think that he was boning Jess — his precious daughter. What an interesting turn of events, he thought.

"Are you going to let me in, Nugget? I mean, you had my name registered as a family member in the computer thingy down there in the lobby." He hesitantly asked his daughter that has her arms folded across her chest and gave him a familiar look.

The look that says - I couldn't believe you are my father - that she has been giving him most of her life. He wanted to change that look from her eyes but, so far, he hasn't been getting any success.

"Get in," she said, sighing.

She watched her father enter her foyer. When he was inside, he grabbed Luke's elbow and pushed him out of the door. "Go home!"

"Hey, that's no fair," he grabbed the doorframe that stopped Jess from closing the door. "Introduce me to your father," he grinned.

"Eww. Don't have those thoughts about my father," she rolled her eyes.

She hit Luke's hand that was gripping on the door frame, "Go home and don't tell anyone that —", she looked behind her, then said, "...that he is my father."

"Why?"

"I'll explain later. Just keep your mouth shut and go!" was all she said, before closing the door and heaved a deep sigh.

She slowly trod to her living room where her father was waiting for her.

"Why did you send your friend home, Nugget? Papa won't be mad that you are dating." He gave his daughter a loop-side smile.

"Do you want some coffee?" She asked, totally avoiding his question.

"Yes, please."

He watched his daughter that he hasn't seen face to face in about four years, walked to the kitchen to make him some coffee.

He forced himself to stay seated even though he wanted to follow her in the kitchen because he missed her so much. But he knew that the more he cornered Jess, the more that she would clam up and run away.

Not to mention that just like her mother, she has a terrible temper. And he doesn't want to get her wrath when they haven't even sat down and talked.

From the armchair he was sitting on, he could see her make him some coffee. He could see how taut her shoulders are. He knew he wasn't welcome here.

But he had waited long enough. He had given her enough space. It's about time they talked, however painful it might be.

"No sugar, right?" she asked as she handed her father the steaming cup of coffee.

"Yup, yup." He grinned, winking at her as he received the cup of coffee.

"Why are you here?"

"Really, Nugget? You are making me so unwelcome. Can't you at least pretend that you miss me and ask me how I am."

He watched his daughter from the rim of his coffee mug. He can see how she was controlling her temper. 'She can control her temper now, huh?' He swallowed a grin.

"I don't need to check on your well-being. You have enough women to do that."

"But I want my most favorite daughter to care for my well-being."

He put down his coffee and clasped his hands together and rested them on his stomach. "Nugget, can you pretend that you don't hate me so much?"

"Why would I do that?"

She took a deep breath and slowly exhaled. She folded her arms below her chest and leaned against the backrest of the couch.

She could see the tiredness around her father's eyes. He must have come directly from the airport to her house. As she watched her father, she took note of his demeanor, and she could see that he was the same as always.

Hence, she doesn't understand why he suddenly appeared before her.  When she left home, they had an agreement that he would not follow her. She will go home when she is ready.

'What could have happened to make him break his promise?'
