"If you have something to say just say it," she spat, clenching her fist. She doesn't know what Ellise was trying to point out. Her heart was thumping wildly in her chest. She remembered that when she asked Noah to fix her computer, she wasn't there. But then, Ellise was right. Why would Noah put something on her computer to monitor what she's doing?

The company yes, but Noah?

And why didn't he tell her about it? And the fact that he asked Ellise to put a tracker on her computer when is he going to tell her about it or does he have the plan to tell her at all?

Her chest started to tighten. "Please, open the window," she asked Ellise in a small voice.

Ellise without a word did what she asked for. She has her eyes glued in front of the car, driving steadily.

While Jess was in turmoil. She wanted to call Noah and asked him about everything Ellise told her. But she remembered he was going to be in a meeting and she had to go meet her doctor to get the result of her blood test.

"Is there anything else that I should know?"

Ellise stole a glance at Jess who turned pale. She sighed. "No more. Other than that, I'll tighten your security. But that was already to be expected."

As a car overtook them, Ellise returned her attention to the road. She waited for Jess to say something but she remained quiet on the passenger seat. She watched Jess remove the laptop computer from her lap and put it on the passenger seat, next to her small suitcase.

"You won't complain about the added security?" She asked after a few minutes of silence inside the Jeep.

"Just as you said, it is to be expected. And whether you believe it or not, I'm taking the threat to my life seriously. It is my life after all! I just don't want to cower in fear just because of it."

"I know. I'm sorry."

"Don't say sorry. It's scarier when you apologize."

She chuckled softly. "Just don't drop your defense. Always be conscious of your surroundings, and be mindful of people you meet every day."

"Yes," she answered curtly.

"It's also scary when you keep agreeing with me."

They glanced at each other at the same time and when their eyes met, they ended up laughing. When their laughter died down, Ellise said, "But, seriously Jess, talk to Noah. I mean, you gave him a passcode to your apartment and all. Somehow, you're already banking seriously on him, aren't you."

Jess kept mum. She was caught off guard. And with everything that Ellise said, she's confused with everything. "Yes, I'll talk to him. But, can you not tell Aunt Joy?" She tried her luck.

"Not gonna happen. I already sent her the report." She slowed down as they were approaching an intersection.

Jess exhaled a deep sigh. "I hope she won't kill me because it took a long time before she was informed."

"What made you think she didn't know?"

Jess's head never snapped so quickly in her life. "You told her already?"

"I didn't! What do you think of me? But, Briare's partner - Samara - was a friend of hers. Don't ask me how and why. I didn't know about it until she dropped by at my place in Shanghai."

"How angry was she?"

"Angry. But not as much as I expected her to be."

"Why didn't she ask me?"

"She is getting old and being unnecessarily sensitive."  She clicked her tongue. "She told me that our bones are strong enough now, we didn't need her help anymore."

"That's just her," she rolled her eyes. "My grandparents always say the same thing. It's an Asian thing I supposed," she scoffed.

"At least, she genuinely cared about us. Call her, if you have time."

Jess turned sideways to her left to face Ellise properly. She squinted her eyes as she watched her drive. She saw a car cut them and Ellise didn't say anything. She just let the other car go, and the most shocking of all was, no curse words flew out of her mouth.

"What?" she snapped at her. She could feel the apprehension and shock in Jess's stare.

"Who are you? What happened to Ellise that I know?"

"What the fuck shit are you talking about? Shouldn't you ask yourself that? What happened to Jess that I know?" She sneered at her.

"I fell in love."

Ellise stepped on the gas and the Jeep jerked up at the sudden stop. "Say it again?" She asked in incredulity.

"I fell in love. That's what happened."

The car behind them honked angrily. Ellise opened the driver's side's window, shoved her hand out, giving the angry driver behind them her middle finger.

Jess laughed. "There's the Ellise that I know. Good to know, you're still you."

She started the car again, but not without honking the Jeep's horn in response to the driver behind them.

"Don't try to divert the topic," she said. Her voice was still laced with disbelief.

"It's just what I said." She averted her eyes. Now that they are talking about it, she suddenly feels embarrassed. She hasn't even talked about her feelings to Noah. And now, she's confessing to Ellise of all people.

"That damn Tiefenbacher," she clicked her tongue when she saw Jess's cheeks as red as a ripe tomato. "I'll have someone watching him too."

"Why would you do that?" she scoffed, crossing her arms over her chest. As if the action would stop the embarrassment she was feeling.

"So, it would be easier to make him disappear if he even tries to hurt you."

"Aww, you are being such a softie. I hate this new you. Please, just be a bitch."

"I'll do that. If you stop being so annoyingly in love with that Tiefenbacher guy."

Jess stuck her tongue out at Ellise.. She knew that she would never win an argument with her.
