"So what do we do?" I asked quietly as I looked between Kaylee and Paige.

My girlfriend suggested, "Maybe we should try and talk with her after school? Assuming she'll talk to us. She might not, none of us really know her that well."

The three of us were standing in the hall a dozen meters away from Ms. Fields' classroom. Her weird backwards writing thing ended when another student questioned her about it. She seemed startled and embarrassed, and quickly erased the board then wrote out the homework assignment the right way around.

Now we were in between periods, and the halls were crowded with all the other students moving around to get to their last class of the day before the bell rang.

"We can't even be sure anything supernatural is going on," Paige responded. "Granted the backwards writing it unusual, and that can come up with some paranormal situations? But Ms. Fields has been our English teacher for the whole year, and this is the first unusual thing we've seen with her."

Kaylee pointed out, "She was at that seance on Saturday, and something definitely happened there. She was in the front row, only two or three meters away from the chalice. We all assumed the spirit went back into the chalice when the candles flared, but we never actually saw that happen. All we know was it disappeared, right?"

I frowned, "Do you think the spirit went into Ms. Fiends instead of the chalice?"

"I hope not," Paige sighed. "Possessions are never fun."

With other students moving around us to get to their classes I almost missed a couple familiar faces, until they stopped alongside us. It was my little sister and the two wolfgirls, they'd obviously spotted me and Kaylee and Paige and came over to see what was up.

"What's going on?" Cerys asked as the three of them stopped to join us.

Kaylee replied, "Something's up with Ms. Fields. She started mirror-writing on the chalkboard at the end of class."

The young blonde frowned, "That can't be good. We've got English next so we'll keep an eye out for anything unusual."

By that point the halls were already emptying out again so Paige suggested, "We should get to our next classes before we're late."

"I'm going to come back here and try to speak with Ms. Fields after my last class," Kaylee decided.

"Me too," I told my girlfriend. "I'll meet you back here."

Nina said, "We'll wait for you here after class then."

With that decided me and Paige and Kaylee all hurried off in different directions. I had to run since my next class was on the other side of the building, but I got there before the bell went. Then I had trouble focusing on the teacher or the lesson, most of my thoughts kept drifting back to Ms. Fields and her backwards writing, and the stuff that happened at the seance on Saturday.

So my last class kind of dragged by slower than normal, with my focus split between trying to pay attention to the boring stuff happening in front of me and the interesting stuff I really wanted to be thinking about.

As soon as the bell rang I scooped up my books and stuffed them in my backpack, then hurried out the door. I made my way through the crowded halls back to Ms. Fields' class, in time to find half of Club Luna already gathered outside the closed door.

Willow was there along with Nina and the two wolfgirls, and I spotted Kaylee approaching from the other side. My girlfriend and I both reached the group at the same time, but she was out of breath from her dash through the halls.

"Whats going on?" Kaylee asked between deep breaths. "Why's the door closed, where's Ms. Fields?"

Cerys shook her head, "She ended the class a few minutes early, she said she wasn't feeling well. Then as soon as we were all out she took off."

"Did she do any more backwards writing?" I asked. "Or anything else unusual?"

Nina shook her head, "She didn't write backwards but at one point she was writing in another language. I didn't recognize it though."

All of us were trying to keep our voices down, but fortunately it didn't seem like anyone was paying us any attention. The other students in the hall were all focused on getting to their lockers then heading out.

Meanwhile Willow commented, "I'm not sure it was another language, it might have just been gibberish? She was using English letters, but the stuff she was writing didn't make any sense."

"I got a picture of it before she erased it," Cerys added as she held up her phone. "Actually I'll just post it to the group chat."

While she did that Kaylee glanced at the cute sorceress then asked, "Is it safe to talk about this stuff in front of her? I guess she accepted the invitation to join the group?"

"Yeah she did," I nodded. "I don't think any of us expected she'd get involved in an investigation so quickly though."

Kaylee grimaced, "Definitely not. But maybe we need to call an emergency meeting? It'd be a good opportunity to get everyone up to speed on all the details from the seance, and what's going on with Ms. Fields. And to properly introduce Willow to the rest of the team."

She looked at the wolfgirls and asked, "Do you think we could head over to your place?"

Melanie shook her head, "It's the full moon tonight, so if y'all are having a meeting you'll have to do somewhere else. Me and Cerys should really be getting home ASAP. I'm just glad she made it through the day without any trouble."

A moment later the ravenette wolfgirl grimaced as she glanced at me, then added "Of course y'all are welcome to use the house if you want to meet there. It's up to Cass. But me and Cerys will be busy."

I blushed but shrugged, "If we're having a meeting we can use our house. But apart from Ms. Fields acting strange, we can't really say if there's something supernatural right? That's why we were hoping to talk with her, to find out if anything was going on."

"Mirror writing and writing in different languages are both things that can come up in cases of possession," Kaylee pointed out. "And after what happened at the seance it feels like that's what we might be up against."

Cerys frowned, "We really need to get in touch with those ghost hunter guys, to see if they have any more information about the chalice. I'm sure there's stuff they didn't share during the lecture or the seance."

"We might need to speak with the medium too," she added. "She's the one who let the spirit out, we might need her to help put it back. Or to help get it out of Ms. Fields, if that's what's happening."

By that point the halls were already starting to empty out as most of the other students around us finished up at their lockers then set off for home or whatever else they were doing.

I still kept quiet though as I suggested, "We could check the flyers and handouts? I'm pretty sure I saw the ghost hunter guys' contact information somewhere. They definitely had their website listed anyways, so it shouldn't be too hard to track them down. And they probably know how to get in touch with Madame Celeste too, since they said they were friends with her."

"Right," Cerys nodded. "So there's stuff we can do right now. Like track down the ghost hunters and try to contact them, track down the medium and find out how to get in touch with her. Oh and we could put the stuff Ms. Fields was writing into an online translator, to try and figure out if it was another language or if it was just gibberish."

It was clear the young blonde was getting excited about this new mystery and she obviously wanted to dive in immediately, but her girlfriend put an arm around her and stated, "Calm down Cerys. We really have to get you home now cutie. We'll have some dinner then try and chill until it's time."

"I don't want to chill," the younger wolfgirl protested. "And I don't want to shift tonight, I want to work on this! Kaylee's right, we should call a meeting and get everyone else on board."

Willow had been quiet for a while but she finally asked, "Is she going to be ok? Is it safe to hang around her when the full moon's this close?"

Melanie blushed slightly as she replied, "Yeah don't worry. Cerys isn't going to get violent or anything. Feels like she might have some zoomies tonight though."

Just like that the blonde werewolf's cheeks were bright red. She pouted and mumbled, "I'm not a puppy, I don't get zoomies!"

Me and Nina were both grinning, and I couldn't help thinking about when Cerys showed us her wolf form and ended up happily accepting pets and scritches from my little sister. She definitely seemed like a big tail-wagging puppy at the time, and the thought of her having zoomies was really cute.

"Whatever you say cutie," Melanie told her girlfriend as she started pulling her away from the English class. "Now let's hit up our lockers then get you home."

Cerys sighed but she didn't try and resist. Instead she looked back at the rest of us and said, "If you do have a meeting tonight, post the results to the club chat! I'll check it out in the morning."

"Ok we will," I replied. "You two have a good night."

Nina waved, then we both turned back to look at Willow and my girlfriend.

"So should we try and do a meeting?" my little sister asked.

Kaylee sighed, "I don't know? Maybe we should wait till tomorrow night, so Cerys and Melanie can be there. Plus me and Cass have Ms. Fields again tomorrow for Creative Writing, that gives us another chance to speak with her first."

The halls were almost completely empty by that point and the four of us kind of stuck out standing around by the classroom door, so I suggested "We should probably get moving too? For that matter we probably shouldn't have stood around here having this whole conversation in the hallway."

"Yeah good point," Kaylee agreed as we all started heading away down the hall. "As soon as I get home I'm going to do some research tonight though, on the ghost hunters, the medium, and that chalice."

Willow stuck with us as she asked, "Is there anything I can do to help?"

My girlfriend shook her head, "Probably not right now? You weren't there on Saturday so you don't know about the seance stuff. If we do get together tomorrow then I'm sure we can figure something out."

The cute sorceress sounded a little disappointed as she replied, "Oh. Ok then."

"Maybe I can tell you about the stuff from Saturday?" Nina offered. "I could even start teaching you some of the club stuff too, if we can find somewhere private to talk."

For a moment it looked like Kaylee was going to argue or protest, like maybe she didn't think Nina should be sharing club secrets with Willow before the sorceress was introduced to the group. Or maybe she just didn't think Nina should be the one to talk to Willow about that stuff regardless, since my little sister was sort of new to the club herself, having been part of the group for less than a year.

Whatever it was, the cute redhead seemed to change her mind just as fast. Instead of protesting she smiled, "That's actually a good idea Nina. If you and Willow get along then maybe you can be her tutor for club stuff?"

"Cool!" the sorceress grinned. "We can go hang out at my place if you like?"

My little sister smiled as well. She looked at me and said, "I'll go with Willow then. Please let our parents know I'll be home later. Or I'll call if I'm going to be late."

"Ok sis," I replied. "Have fun!"

We all visited our lockers, then the four of us headed out the back door of the school together. That's where we parted ways though, with Nina and Willow heading in one direction while me and Kaylee set off for home together.

As my girlfriend and I walked across the field towards the ravine she asked, "Do you want to hang out and do some research together?"

I shrugged, "I don't know how much research I can do, but I'm happy to hang out with you while you're looking stuff up. Maybe I can help somehow?"

She smiled and reached over to hold my hand, "Then let's go to my place, it'll be easier for me to do that on my computer."

"Ok Kaylee," I smiled back as the two of us cut through the ravine.

Less than fifteen minutes later I was sitting crosslegged on her bed while she sat at her computer. I had a bottle of spring water in my hand, she had a can of soda on the desk next to her. She was looking up information on the two ghost hunter guys, Tom and Jeff. And I was looking at my phone, at the picture Cerys shared earlier.

I couldn't read whatever strange stuff Ms. Fields had written on the blackboard, but it definitely looked like language to me rather than gibberish. There were three sentences written out over four lines, and each sentence was broken up by commas. The text wasn't English but used the same alphabet, and it seemed to use the same punctuation too.

The only thing that wasn't clearly spelled out was a mark at the bottom, under the last line. It actually looked a lot like someone's signature, except I couldn't really make it out. If it was a signature, it was the kind that was just some swoopy squiggles that you're not really meant to be able to read in the first place.

I was still staring at the image a minute or two later when both my and Kaylee's phones buzzed with a new group message. The text was from Melody, she'd just seen the same picture I'd been looking at and posted a comment on it.

"I'm pretty sure that's Welsh," the shape-shifter texted. "I might be wrong, I can't actually read the language, but that's what it looks like to me."

Kaylee looked at her phone, then said "Let's put it into an online translator like Cerys said. If it's any normal human language we'll find out what it says."

I watched over her shoulder as she carefully copied out the strange words from the picture. Sure enough it worked, and a moment later we were both staring at the English version of the text.

"This is bad," Kaylee said with a sigh. "I think we should set up an emergency club meeting for tomorrow after school."

I nodded slowly as I stared at the text on her screen, "Yeah. I think you're right."

The text Ms. Fields wrote out in another language before a classroom full of grade eleven students wasn't outright threatening or anything, but it definitely seemed like the kind of thing Club Luna needed to look into.

"Thrice bound by words, twice sealed by ink, once pacted by blood.
Your eyes my windows, your mouth my voice, your body my tool.
Through death and life by betrayal bound,
To you bequeathed body mind and soul."
