Chapter 78

He explained the use of the ring to Sylvia, who was still speechless. If she said, ‘Come out, laser!’ the laser would come out, and if she turned the small sawtooth next to the ring, the color of the jewel would change, and the intensity could be adjusted.

When it was red like earlier, the most powerful laser would come out, when it was yellow, it was easy to slice meat or cut fruit with it, and when it was green, it was like an additional function that made it even possible to remove plaque. In short, it was like the MacG*ver knife from the real world.

Sylvia was taken aback for a moment, but after hearing the explanation, she put her hands together and looked at Noel. The fact that he was giving her his precious grandmother’s keepsake made her really emotional.

“Ah… Isn’t your grandmother’s keepsake really important to you? … Thank you. I will cherish it.”

“I’m glad Miss Sylvia likes it. My grandmother in heaven will be satisfied by Miss Sylvia using it.”

Sylvia quietly looked down at the ring shining on her finger. Even though she wanted to see if the ring was a game item, there was no detailed description. Noel gave her something that wasn’t a game item, but Sylvia felt like she had somehow received something really valuable, so her heart was filled with excitement.

They began to walk again in a sweet atmosphere like any other couple. When Sylvia chatted, Noel smiled softly and nodded.

After going around the back garden, it was time for the drying machine to be finished.

On the way back to the stable, Noel took Sylvia’s hand carefully and made eye contact with her.

“Miss Sylvia. I can always help you, so feel free to come to me whenever you need. I will always be happy to help you, whether you come to the mansion or the temple.”

“Mr. Noel, don’t say that. We will still see each other often in the future.”

Sylvia was serious. There were four target characters left, so she wouldn’t see him as often as before. But she still wanted to meet the handsome Noel, whom she was never tired of meeting, seeing his face, talking to him, and… having s*x with him.

At her words, Noel shook his head with a bitter expression.

“Still, I have a feeling I won’t see you as often as when you were working at the temple. With my greed, I want to hold Miss Sylvia by my side forever, but… you have a lot to do. That’s too selfish.”

“Ah…”

Noel’s face darkened as he spoke. Sylvia’s heart ached when she read the emotions on his face. Nevertheless, Noel’s words were not wrong at all, so she could not find a way to comfort him properly. Although she still had the condition to collect the Priest’s Seed Fragment, but it was obvious that they would not see each other as often as they did when she worked part-time four days a week.

‘I still want to see Mr. Noel often, but while I’m targeting the rest of the characters, I don’t think I’ll be able to do it as much as before.’

Letting out a deep sigh, Noel tried to look at her with a casual expression. He intentionally tried to brighten Sylvia’s expression in case she was feeling overwhelmed.

Sylvia felt strange when she saw him forcing a bright smile.

Noel carefully covered her cheeks with his hands, kissed her round forehead, and whispered quietly.

“It’s okay if you don’t see me often. I’ll wait for the time to come. When all is finished… I really want to tell you something.”

“… Mr. Noel, thank you.”

Sylvia felt like she was going to cry and hugged Noel tightly.

As she did, he embraced her small body. The firm body against hers trembled slightly. In Noel’s cozy and supportive embrace, she realized that he had pushed back what he really wanted to say in consideration of her situation.

‘Mr. Noel has been considerate of me…’

Noel smiled bitterly and touched her small back. When they were in the dungeon, he thought he should tell Sylvia to live together because he was jealous of her seemingly strong relationship with Sevis. However, upon returning to the villa and thinking about it calmly, it seemed that his suggestion could be too much of a burden for her. So, in the end, he decided to hold back what he wanted to say.

However, intending to express this overwhelming feeling somehow, Noel presented his grandmother’s keepsake to Sylvia. In fact, the ring Noel gave to her was a relic that Noel’s grandmother requested him to give to his partner. He didn’t tell her that in case she would be overwhelmed, but that was the story behind it.

‘Someday I’ll tell Miss Sylvia the story of the ring.’

The two, who had been hugging each other for a long time, returned to the stable as the surroundings grew darker. Some time later, the sunset was coloring the sky red. Noel tilted his head, caressing Sylvia’s soft cheek.

“Aren’t you hungry? We should go and have dinner.”

“Yes, I was thinking the same. I’m really hungry.”

Sylvia rubbed her stomach in anticipation of dinner. Noel looked at her as if she were cute. She cleaned up the clutter she had left in the stable, grabbed his hand, and headed to the mansion, but she felt a burning sensation in her throat for some reason.

‘I think I forgot something…’

“That’s right, Limbo!”

Sylvia ran to the stable, startled by her belated thoughts. When she hurriedly opened the door of the drying machine, Limbo was sitting in the corner with a discontented look on its face and its legs in a twist. When she looked at its face, it was like it was saying, ‘Ah, really. You’re only coming now? Are you out of your mind?’

“Limbo! I’m sorry. I should have come sooner.”

“Neigh!”

When Sylvia grabbed its front foot and apologized, Limbo quickly removed its leg from her hands.

Limbo was clearly upset. After apologizing for a long time, Sylvia could barely pull Limbo out of the drying machine. Sylvia stumbled out of the stable, carrying Limbo on her back. When Noel saw that, bewildered, he said he would carry the horse, but Sylvia shook her head and refused.

“Limbo, you’ve been eating a lot lately…”

“Hmph!”

Sylvia’s whole body was sweaty as she carried the sulky Limbo inside the mansion. After getting a piggyback ride for quite some time, Limbo smiled again with its teeth showing, as if it had relieved its anger.

After taking a shower, she went to enjoy the meal with everyone. There was a brief incident in which Sylvia tried to cut a steak with the all-around laser ring Noel had given her and cut the plate in two. Sevis, who had a long face as he held the two halves of the plate, smiled again comfortably when the servant said there was no need to pay for it.

After a pleasant meal, they watched the stars on the terrace, talked about ghosts… That was how the night deepened in Noel’s villa.

The sweet holiday was over in an instant.

After resting and recharging for three days, Sylvia and her group decided to return to the seaside village where their cabin was located to prepare for the coming-of-age festival, which began on Monday.

Packing their things and coming out, they were sent off by the villa servants at the entrance of the mansion.

Everyone was about to get on the horses and leave, but the middle-aged butler, who was nowhere to be seen, hurried outside while wiping away his tears with a handkerchief and wrapped his hands around Noel’s.

“Mr. Noel! The next time you come here, please bring me good news.”

He turned to look alternately between Noel and Sylvia while saying something nonsensical. From the look on his face, he seemed to know what kind of relationship they were in. Receiving the butler’s gaze, Sylvia only raised the corners of her mouth with an awkward expression.

‘He didn’t catch us f*cking during the night, did he?’

Noel only gave a mysterious smile at the butler’s words.

“Come back next time!”

They left the villa with a great send-off from the butler and the servants.

Stopping by the village one last time, she asked the villagers to take care of the temple, and then left, receiving their goodbyes. As she came out to the entrance of the village, a message appeared in front of her.

‘I feel like a big part of the game is finished.’

Sylvia paused, somehow feeling excited, and took a deep breath. As she turned her head to look at the village with a complicated look on her face, Sevis asked what was wrong. Sylvia said it was nothing and ordered Limbo into autonomous driving.

After leaving the village, they traveled at lightning speed and returned to the seaside town in an instant, using turbo driving.

“We’re here.”

“Ugh… I think I’m getting motion sickness.”

“Miss Sylvia, I’m not feeling well either.”

Noel’s face was calm, perhaps because he was used to turbo-driving. However, thinking that it was their last meal in the mansion, Sylvia and Sevis ate in a hurry, so they were both feeling sick.

“Then, see you on the last day of the festival.”

Noel told them to come to see the temple’s events on the last day of the festival, and then they went their separate ways.

Sylvia and Sevis, who drove Limbo home in autonomous driving, drooped their shoulders as they began to see the collapsing cabin.

They felt demoralized just by looking at the sloppy cabin.

Sylvia grabbed the handle of the front door… correction, of the bedroom door with the face of someone who had nothing to live for. Whether it was a front door, the moment she opened it, she thought that it didn’t matter if she called it a bedroom door because it was only a bedroom.

‘Happiness is over, and the beggar’s life is beginning. It was like a dream to stay at Noel’s mansion.’

Not wanting to go inside, Sylvia forced her feet to move and spoke.

“Ugh, Sevis, let’s go inside.”

“Ah… I think we left without doing the laundry… I need to do some cleaning first.”

Coming down from Limbo weakly, Sevis found a gaunt carrier pigeon sleeping on a dried branch at the entrance to the cabin.

The carrier pigeon was dozing off dangerously on the branch when it found Sevis. It stumbled and came flying over, cooing.

The carrier pigeon, which looked like a sparrow but sounded like a dove, looked around restlessly as Sevis walked slowly and flew to Sylvia’s shoulder as she walked through the door. Then, it held out its leg, which had a letter tied to it.

“Coo! Coo!”
