Chapter 188

I tried to convince the guards and knights that Tio was kidnapped. I even tell the adventurer. The guard and knights take our complaints seriously and begin to alert the others as well. They knew better than to dismiss this as a prank by two children. I'm glad they acted quickly.

While they try to mobilize their own unit to help us, Adnan and I get restless. I'm sure they're better suited to search for Tio, but it doesn't feel right for us to stand here.

I've been kidnapped before and it's a scary feeling. I can fight back, considering how strong I am, but Tio isn't. She's weak. I'm sure she's experiencing the same thing I did last time. I just hope they don't get rough with her. Please, Goddess, anything but that.

I start by asking the nearby trees and animals where they last saw Tio. The trees and animals show me the direction, and when I look in the direction they're pointing, the grasshopper golem that belongs to Tio starts to hop and glow a little.

"Do you know why it's glowing slightly?" [Adnan]

"I have no idea" [Diana].

"Can't you ask it?" [Adnan]

"I tried, but it just says correct correct" [Diana]

"Is it me or is the glow starting to fade" [Adnan]

"Really... Oh... Why... It won't tell me" [Diana].

"Quick, just ask a real grasshopper or something, maybe it will help" [Adnan].

"Are you sure, but better than nothing" [Diana]

I quickly find a grasshopper on the small bushes near me, and when I ask if it can understand this golem, it says it can't, but surprisingly, it can tell why this grasshopper golem is acting strangely.

"It's trying to follow its family member" [Grasshopper A].

"Just like us. If one of us gets separated, we find our family quickly" [Grasshopper B].

"Really? Then does that mean that this Golem glowing is a way for him to track his family?" [Diana]

"That must be it!" [Grasshopper A, B]

The faint glow began to fade. In a panic, the two of us run quickly in the direction we think Tio will be, and the glow starts again. I also ask the nearby animals if they've seen the kidnapper, and according to what they told me, it's a twenty-something with brown hair, three knives at his waist, and a green band on his right arm. Yep, that's their description of our kidnapper.

As we follow the direction, the glow starts to get brighter and when the glow suddenly fades, we quickly change the route based on what the trees, bushes and animals tell me until the glow gets stronger again.

"We'll never catch up with Tio like this" [Adnan].

"True, what should we do..." [Diana]

This is risky. I think of something that will surely make them all angry with me. Yes, I'm sure. I'm sure they will be angry with me for thinking such an outrageous thing, but

"Adnan, can you tell my brothers and sisters what happened and tell them to send Fie to look for me?

"That's crazy! Are you thinking of going alone?" [Adnan]

"And what, make our only lead useless?" [Diana]

"But it's dangerous! They will surely scold us all!" [Adnan]

"And what, a few scolds or never seeing Tio again! You choose!" [Diana]

"Grr... Fine! But you better take care of yourself!" [Adnan]

I will. I am afraid right now, but I am sure that Tio is even more afraid than I am. I'm sure of it. I can't bear the thought that Tio might be gone forever. I don't want that to happen.

While Adnan quickly runs back to the dungeon, I continue on my way. Again, I use both the grasshopper golem and the surrounding trees and animals to guide me across the road. It looks like the road will lead somewhere unknown to me. I just hope it's not somewhere far away, or worse, somewhere outside of our land.

Still, it's strange. I thought I would see them by now. Of course, there are some glitches and mistakes that have been made, but I'm using my magic and trying my best to catch up with them. I thought I would see them by now, but no, I haven't.

It's strange indeed. Are they using a high-speed carriage? Are they using a thunder unicorn like Aunt Amleth's? But when I asked the trees, they told me that it's indeed a carriage with the man perfectly described as the kidnapper driving it. Doesn't he ever stop? How fast does he intend to escape?
