The school started and after a warm speech from the principal, Master Merlin took the stage and told us about her so-called educational material. This is the material for those who failed last year, did not take any extra classes, and did not help with the conference or the Succubus Cultural Festival.
Just like the community service I was forced to do two days ago, this is basically the same, only on a much larger scale. From helping to build the new settlement for some of the giants who wanted to make Amleth their home, to more menial tasks like cleaning the streets of Amleth. Unlike my punishment, though, they will do it for a month or so, and then they will be evaluated by various parties as to whether they pass or fail. Those who fail, well, good luck having to go through another month.
This, of course, causes those who have to take the material to make a fuss. The Muscle Teacher reminds them of their etiquette, but that doesn't stop them from sighing loudly. Master Merlin, on the other hand, continues to tell them how hard it is for her, how hard it is to see her beloved student having to take a broom and clean the street, how hard it is for her to hear the sound of her students working hard just to build a house, and so on. She's obviously enjoying it.
"Anyone who disagrees can sign this form and get Little Amleth's signature to approve it. Good luck with that" [Merlin].
And now she's abusing her status as Auntie Amleth's master. Obviously only Kara, Mara and I have the courage to do this... No, I'm sure even the three of us wouldn't have the courage. Even though Auntie Amleth is kind, she's pretty strict about this kind of thing, so I'm sure she wouldn't approve of anyone daring enough to do it.
And so, after the morning assembly and greeting the new students enrolling this year, we head back to our class. Another year older and another class to tackle. Of course, we are supposed to get a new teacher this time, but none of us are surprised when everyone's favorite witch comes knocking on our classroom door, telling us how grateful she is to be able to teach all of her adorable little students.
"It's like watching your own daughter and son grow up. It is a wonderful feeling" [Merlin].
