“Why are we moving in a hurry? I still don’t have the thing…” Jain complains. She is on her way to retrieve an artifact from the destroyed remains of the Vatican, but she is not able to.

All too suddenly, her boss has decided that they do not need the artifact anymore.

Yi Yeonjun forcefully takes her away through [Phase Shift], and now, they are in the middle of nowhere— a forest empty of any activities except those from the members of Chameleon Troupe.

“Byul, I miss you!” Jain sneaks on Yi Byul and shamelessly stretches her cheeks. Yi Byul leaves her be, as she is too focused on something else entirely.

Yi Byul’s eyes are set on Hajin. She sees him convening with Yi Yeonjun, and after that, they immediately move with haste as if they want to lose someone on their tail. “Why does the Boss is so trusting of that guy?” She is feeling jealous, and Jain sees through it.

“Is our YI Byul jealous?”

“Umu,” Yi Byul hums softly. She doesn’t mean it, but it seems she does feel jealous of Hajin. “Should I kill him?”

In this iteration, Yi Byul has become more evidently bloodthirsty and has a twisted personality with a mixture of apathy and love. Yi Yeonjun definitely has a hand in this.

While Yi Byul is keeping watch on Hajin, Hajin is similarly doing the same and is observing Yi Byul.

Kim Hajin is perched on a tree and is making rudimentary scouting with the high vantage point. His eyes can see far, and his peripheral vision is wide so he can see Yi Byul clearly studying him. He makes an assessment of this iteration’s Yi Byul. ‘Judging by how much twisted she has become, I can say that Yi Yeonjun must have received his [Book of Revelation], specifically information of the future in a much earlier period.’

In the TNE manuscript, Yi Yeonjun has faked his death and left Yi Byul alone. Because of that, it gives Kim Hajin of that timeline a chance to get in touch with Yi Byul and change her for the better.

The only reason Yi Yeonjun can be so close to Yi Byul is because the former has taken separate actions from the past timeline.

From the shrubbery, Yi Yeonjun appears with a smile. “Gather here. It is time.”

“Where are we going, boss?” Jin Yohan asks. “Are we going to a dungeon?”

Kaita sarcastically replies. “Of course, we are running. Isn’t that why we have been changing places so many times? It is so that we can lose that Savant!”

Cheok Jungyeon violently grabs Kaita by his throat. “Don’t lump us with you, coward. You are the one who ran! What a waste… It will be better if it is Arashi or Setryn who came back.”

The way everyone sees it, they might really look like they are running, but no one is convinced that it is because of the so-called Savant. Their boss must have a plan! Everyone looks at Yi Yeonjun expectantly.

“Let Kaita go. He misspoke.” Yi Byul looks at Kaita with murderous eyes. “Kaita, apologize to Gyeon.”

“I am sorry,” Kaita weakly answers.

Cheok Jungyeon finally lets him go. “So boss, are we running?”

“No,” Yi Yeonjun eerily grins. “We are going somewhere. It is a special place. You will be able to fight a lot of strong contenders there, Cheok Jungyeon. And you can steal a lot of treasures there, Jain. This is going to be an adventure.”

The way Yi Yeonjun talks is as if he is a protagonist of a shonen manga, and it disgusts Hajin. ‘A pretentious prick,’ He surmises that is what Yi Yeonjun is outside of being mad.

Yi Yeonjun summons his [Book of Revelation], and with a thought, he emanates a strong pulse of magic power. Every one of the Chameleon Troupe feels a whirlpool of magic power drawing them in with the [Book of Revelation] as the epicenter. The clouds above get darker, and lightning begins to sporadically fall in odd intervals.

Hajin looks back at the forest, at the green vegetation, and perhaps he imagines his comrades’ faces. It has been a tough short semester, and he barely gets to know them. Though in his heart, he knows them. As a person, the time he spends with them is too short.

Hyon Hyung is a great exception though. Even now, Hajin doesn’t know how to treat him.

“I will return,” Hajin makes a solemn promise to himself.

Looking forward at Yi Yeonjun, Hajin sees a black dot hovering above the [Book of Revelation]. Hajin sees a world of black, and the next thing he knows is that he is in another world.

“Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to Akatrina! This will be our first stop!”

No matter how long it will take, Hajin will be free of Yi Yeonjun’s control one day, and return to Earth. Of course, he has to make use of Yi Yeonjun first so that he can save Yoo Yeonha and Chae Jinyoon.

I return to [Under Cube] with nothing to show for. I cannot even bring myself to see the others and revisit Yeonha who must be peacefully recovering from the liquid chamber. I feel so bitter that no amount of sugar can possibly uplift my mood.

“Cube, why did you not help Yeonha…?” I complain. I know it is wrong to put the blame on someone else, but I am only human. “Fuck… Why does Evandel have to suffer?”

[I am sorry.]

“Why am I so hurt?”

[It has been detected that the host is bound by a Sacred Promise to Evandel. The psychological hurt has been multiplied several fold because the promise has not been kept.]

I feel like Cube AI is scolding me, when in fact she is just faithfully answering my query.

“Those fuckers… I cannot even take Yi Byul’s head… That bitch! I don’t care anymore even if she is the main female lead of the original… ugh… fuuuck!” I recall Yi Byul is also one of my favorite heroines of the TNE storyline.

It is undeniable that she is the best girl for the MC in the novel as per consensus by the reader community, and evidently, something that the author also has agreed on. “Jee Gab Song… fuck that guy…”

I still have resentment over the ending of TNE. I imagine myself getting over this resentment after getting sent into this world, but I feel that my resentment toward that author has just gotten worse.

The ending of TNE is good. But I have my misgivings about it. Jee Gab Song is especially good at making depressing bittersweet endings. I remember his other works with similar kinds of endings. I hate all of them, but I cannot help but like them. Still, that makes the feeling so much worse!

I bet if TNE has side stories, it will be equally as depressing as shit.

I fall asleep while my head rests on the desk.

***

Cube AI watches its host who is sleeping in silence.

The host sleeps peacefully within the [Control Room]. Cube has been tasked by her host to not let anyone see him. She feels terrible despite being simply a machine. Her AI is special and surpasses the imitation of the human psyche.

Cube is something without a heart but knows what it is like to have a heart. If she is to make an analogy, she is closest to the like of Orden.

She has access to the files that everyone from [Sinful] can peruse, and she has also read data from the future. That is how she knows of Orden. In a sense, she is a member of [Sinful] too.

Watching her host silently, she realizes the guilt she is feeling. Her inability to protect Yeonha and Evandel also weighs on her. She sends all of the golems she has in her storage, but it is useless. The enemies are too strong.

When the character ‘Yi Byul’ enters the containment area of Yeonha, Cube panics and almost decides to use the countermeasures specifically for Yeonha to Yi Byul. The countermeasures are fairly decent, and even someone like Yi Byul will not be able to live through that.

However, if Cube does go with it, Yeonha might be killed, and the Devil’s Seed might end up respawning somewhere else far from their reach. The risk is too great, and no amount of free will can help Cube on making the right decision at that time… That is why she has abstained which allows Yi Byul to go unscathed.

Cube AI watches her host in painful silence. Suddenly, she sees something hiding from her host. It is something born out of the power of creation, and this lump as if it has a mind of its own jumps towards Cube.

That day, a subtle change occurs to the Cube AI, and while hidden from the eyes of others, it has begun its quiet evolution.
