In a café southward of the Hero Association Tower, Yun Seung-Ah is sipping her tea while a bit incensed. “So I am saying, there is a problem within my guild… They just don’t listen to me… I swear, them attacking the Tower of Miracle will be the death of them!”
“Yeah,” Kim Suho nods in agreement at how foolhardy the Guild Leader of Creator’s Sacred Grace is. “Your guild is being reckless. Analysis shows it is five years too early for them to try… Today is the day they are going to try it, right?”
“Yeah, I know, right…” Yun Seung-Ah’s voice becomes small. She has been confiding in Suho for some time, and it makes her comfortable just talking to him.
Though they have almost a ten-year gap in age, the two just seem to get along so well.
It has been a year, and Kim Suho has changed a lot— on top of gaining a few centimeters, he is now also wearing glasses though according to him his eyes can still see well. Not that Yun Seung-Ah is prying, but she is curious.
“Only now am I going to ask this… Why are you wearing glasses?” Yun Seung-Ah rubs her chin. “I mean, you look cute in it, so I don’t ask…” She adds in a small voice.
Kim Suho shakes his shoulder. “Style?”
“…”
“Just kidding,” Suho adds. “Though your question is a year too late, I will indulge you with an answer. It is because you told me the first time I look cute in it!”
“Eh?” Seung-Ah tilts her head, feeling inwardly embarrassed at his words.
Seriously?! Like very seriously?
“Just kidding,” Suho adds a second time. “It is a very high-tech glass, which is all I can say. It is highly classified.”
“Is it Hero Association tech?” Seung-Ah wants to just pick off Suho’s glass and try it for herself, but that is rude. She is reminded of a certain bastard who once stole her sunglasses just to use them as a mirror.
“Nope, it is Hyon’s,” Suho grows quiet, and Seung-Ah does the same feeling the ‘silence’ to be appropriate.
The things that have happened in Cube… it is terrible. Rather than scandalous, Cube has become a place of freak accidents… These freak accidents remain unexplained to this date, and even now, investigations that seek to unearth the mysteries of these accidents are continually being perpetuated.
The only heir to Essence of the Strait Guild, Yoo Yeonha gone missing. Sensational genius and rising gunner Kim Hajin has gone missing. And most recently six months ago, the only heir to Desolate Moon Guild and grandson of Great Hero Shin Myungchul, Shin Jonghak has gone missing.
“How are you doing, Suho?” Seung-Ah pats Suho’s hand in concern.
Kim Suho just smiles. A lot has happened since a year ago. Suho has dropped out of Cube and now works for the Hero Association.
To Seung-Ah’s eyes, the reason must be because of the things happening on Cube. The current Hero Association is truly corrupted, and incompetent. Hopefully, with Suho rising in their ranks, soon, the Association will change for the better.
Seung-Ah is aware that Suho is friends with a lot of people from Cube. Suho after all is the friendly sort.
“I am fine,” Suho bitterly smiles. “There is nothing to worry about me. I am fine, I am still in contact with my friends. Moreover, I am lucky Yeonghan came with me over here in the Association. I am fortunate to have a friend like him.”
And then speak of the devil, and he shall appear.
Yi Yeonghan comes rushing inside the café. “Suho!” When he sees Seung-Ah, Yeonghan calms down a little bit and addresses Suho. “I think you need to see this.”
The nervousness in Yeonghan sends Seung-Ah and Suho on a high alert.
Suho leads the way back to the Hero Association with Seung-Ah tagging along. Suho has a high enough clearance level to drag Seung-Ah inside the Hero Association’s Tower. When the trio reaches the control room, Gang Gil is waiting there.
“Report,” Suho demands.
“The Tower of Miracle exploded.”
“Huh?” Seung-Ah cannot believe what she is hearing. “Seriously? What is happening?”
“The Tower of Miracle exploded,” Suho repeats, not surprised by one bit. “Specifics?”
Gang Gil explains the circumstances not a heartbeat later. “Magic power density becomes agitated 72 minutes after the Creator’s Sacred Grace Guild enters the tower. From there on, natural elements follow perhaps stimulated by the increasing magic power, and when the ‘energy’ reaches a critical point, the tower begins aggressively condensing the magic power, and then expels it in a shockwave. The area 52 miles from the tower has been destroyed very thoroughly in the aftermath, and the association is sending immediate aid as of this moment.”
Seung-Ah pales as she hears this. She feels her legs becoming weak. “W-what?”
“Go home, rest… I will call you, and update you.” Suho offers his shoulder and arm to support Seung-Ah.
The Creator’s Sacred Grace means a lot to her, and seeing it damning a lot of innocent civilians just because of the guild’s hunger for glory has rendered her weak in the knees. It is inevitable that this happen. The consequence of failing a dungeon run is a dungeon break, and while cases of consequences for failing a tower challenge are rarer, it doesn’t mean that they do not exist.
Current research shows that the criteria for the ‘consequences’ to be triggered are random and don’t follow any patterns. Years before the Creator Sacred Grace challenged the Tower of Miracle, plenty of Guilds had long failed, and none of them had triggered a consequence feedback.

Suho wants to drive her home, but she declines. Yun Seung-Ah knows better than not to interfere with Suho’s work. Kim Suho is hard-working, and someone who also puts effort in desk work and overseer jobs.
When Seung-Ah is outside the Hero Association’s premises, she sees an unexpected face. “Aileen-ssi?”
“How are you doing, girl?” Aileen is driving a red Ferrari with an open hood, her small stature seemingly comical. “Are you going home? Let me help you.”
“Ok,” Yun Seung-Ah acquiesces knowing better than not to reject Aileen.
The last thing Seung-Ah wants to deal with is a hyperactive senior who doesn’t take no for an answer. The red Ferrari zooms in the street with speed. Aileen is surprisingly adept at driving.
“Since when are you so good at driving?” Seung-Ah is certainly surprised by the level of precision that Aileen is driving.
Aileen boastfully replies. “It is geared up with an advanced AI from Hajin Page, you know?”
“So, you aren’t driving, but the AI?” Seung-Ah doesn’t know about Artificial Intelligence, but she knows about the Hajin Page. After the controversial disappearance of Kim Hajin, his close friend, the second biggest shareholder, Hyon Hyung takes the mantle as lead inventor… and effective immediately, the sole owner.
It has created a lot of buzz as conspiracies after conspiracies springs up at how fast Hyon Hyung has transformed the so-called ‘Hajin Page’ to a worldwide competing business platform for arms dealing, AI Technology, and even appliances.
“Of course, I am driving,” Aileen belatedly replies. “Where is the fun in that if I am not driving… so how are you doing with Suho? Still a virgin?”
“Huh!?” Seung-Ah cringes. “What are you talking about? Virgin? A-are you talking about me? Or Suh— damn it! Are you suggesting that—? We didn’t do any of that? We didn’t do any of that! And why are you implicitly suggesting that we did it, huh? It is not like we are in a relationship, aren’t we?”

And Aileen just cannot help but poke more. “So, aren’t you both? I mean, in a relationship?”
“Aren’t we?” Yun Seung-Ah asks herself, but she cannot really arrive at a satisfactory answer.
“Don’t ask me,” Aileen teases her. “But aren’t you two?”
“So we are, but no, I don’t think so.” Yun Seung-Ah feels that her relationship with Suho is more of a friend-kind of relationship.
“You say it,” Ailleen teases her more. “He picks you up every time you finish work. The two of you eat together every Friday and have dinner. And… the two of you often hang out every Sunday during the last week of the month… so let me ask again, just so that you become certain. Are you, Kim Suho’s girlfriend?”
“B-but I am almost a decade older than him…” Yun Seung-Ah tries to swallow the words, but in the end, she ends up saying it.
“Bah~!” Aileen roughly ignores her junior’s turmoil. “Age means nothing to love!”
“I… I…” Yun Seung-Ah is so close to self-destructing, but… she manages to catch her bearings in the end. “Why do you talk so smoothly like this? Do you have experience with romance, Aileen-ssi?”

When the two arrive at their destination, Yun Seung-Ah feels a bit of a burden on her shoulders lessened. She dearly misses her apartment flat, and she can do with more rest… but then she is reminded of the Tower of Miracle bringing her close to tearing up again.
“Thank you Aileen-ssi for bringing me home.” But before even Seung-Ah can dart and go, she hears a thump from behind.
Aileen closes the door of her car and walks by Seung-Ah’s side. “Sorry, but I need to talk with you. This is important. I want your insight, Seung-Ah.”
