In the heart of Seoul, nestled among the bustling streets, lies Songju High School. Once a hub of education and dreams, it's now a grim battlefield. The school grounds are overrun with monsters – goblins, hobgoblins, and trolls that lurk in the shadows. The echoing hallways are haunted by the distant sounds of struggle, the desperate attempts of students to navigate the nightmare that has become their reality.

Uniform-clad students, now survivors in their own right, scurry through the hallways like rats, each one trying to find a way to endure the chaos that has engulfed their once peaceful school. Small groups huddle together, forming impromptu alliances to maximize their chances of survival. Within this chaotic landscape, one exemplary couple stands out for their resilience – Oh Jaejin and Yi Yook-Ok.

Oh Jaejin, with his disheveled appearance and black hair peeking out from behind his glasses, peers cautiously from the classroom's concealment. "Yuki, there are seven of them on the stairs," he reports, his voice hushed. "Six goblins wielding primitive stone weapons… One hobgoblin… carrying a spear." Using his magical senses, he scans the corridor and staircase, relaying vital information to his companion. The duo is currently concealed in a classroom, strategizing their next move.

Yi Yook-Ok, her brown hair tightly braided, nods as she grips a makeshift spear using a wooden pole as a shaft and the knife as its spearhead. Her attire is no longer the typical school uniform but tattered clothes, and she has long exchanged her skirt with trousers. "Jay, what do you think? Can we take them on?" Her eyes reflect a mix of determination and concern.

"We have been attacking them with guerrilla tactics, trying to improve our abilities," Jaejin responds thoughtfully. "Let’s try slaughtering them all this time… I will attract… their attention."

Yi Yook-Ok affectionately reaches out, her hand gently touching Oh Jaejin's face. "Don’t be like that, I will be the vanguard. Understand? You are too important. We haven't seen anyone else able to wield such supernatural abilities as yours… The magic you wield is too precious…"

Jaejin hesitates, concern etched on his face. "But—"

"You don’t have to be worried about me," Yook-Ok reassures with a warm smile. "I know that you will protect me, so let me be the vanguard. I will protect you!"

Jaejin counters with a self-deprecating remark, "I am not anything special, you know that."

Yook-Ok shakes her head with a playful expression. "You silly, of course, you are special!"

The monsters infesting Songju High School exhibit a terrifying array of abilities, each species uniquely adapted to wreak havoc on the once-thriving corridors. The goblins, small creatures with vibrant green skin, swarm in highly coordinated packs. Their vicious nature is matched only by their alarming procreation ability. Any mammal unfortunate enough to fall prey to their grimy hands becomes a host for their dark propagation. In about a month, the impregnated mothers give birth to multiple little goblins, perpetuating the horde with relentless efficiency.

The hobgoblins, once driven by lust, have traded their former desires for insatiable greed. With increased detection abilities due to their sharper noses, they engage in relentless hunting. Standing as tall as most humans, these creatures share the goblins' green skin but possess enhanced strength, making them formidable adversaries.

Among the monstrous ranks, the Troll stands out as the most formidable adversary. With powerful muscles surpassing even the hobgoblins, their most fearsome trait lies in their vitality. Trolls boast an unparalleled regenerative ability, capable of regrowing any lost limbs. These creatures, with their overwhelming strength and relentless regenerative powers, pose a significant threat to any survivors attempting to navigate the perilous halls of the besieged high school.

Oh Jaejin, with a strategic mind and keen observations, notes a critical detail about the monsters – all goblins and hobgoblins are males, and trolls are generally asexual. Before engaging, he takes a moment to cast various buffs, enhancing Yi Yook-Ok’s spear with sharpness, penetration, lightweight, and wind enchantment. "The strategy is as usual," he explains, his voice focused.

Yi Yook-Ok, ready for action, affirms the plan. "I provoke them, lure them into your range, kill anyone who gets too close, and you soften them until they are mush." With a thumbs up, she springs into action, bolting out of the door and making her way to the adjacent stairs. "Here I go! Hey, you smelly monsters! Come and get me!"

The monsters, provoked by Yi Yook-Ok's taunts, heed the call and rush towards her. Meanwhile, Oh Jaejin, still concealed in his hiding place, utilizes his magic sense to monitor the monsters as they enter his range. "Earth Arrows!" he commands. The concrete walls bend and shape, ejecting earth projectiles resembling arrows. The magical assault takes out all the little goblins and injures the hobgoblin. Seizing the opportunity, Oh Jaejin rushes outside to oversee the fight while replenishing his magic power as quickly as possible.

Yi Yook-Ok, locked in a fierce confrontation with the bruised hobgoblin, queries her partner, "How are you holding up?" She brandishes her spear, eyes fixed on her formidable foe.

Oh Jaejin, feeling the strain of simultaneous casting, confesses, "Smidgen of magic power left, I need to recover." The toll on his magical reserves is evident. "Be careful!"

The hobgoblin roars and thrusts its spear. "Graaah!"

Yi Yook-Ok swiftly swirls her spear, parrying the attack. "Haah!" she counters with ferocity.

Oh Jaejin, sensing an imminent danger, urgently warns, "Yuki! MOVE BACK!" His widened eyes reveal a realization – there is magic in the spear.

Yi Yook-Ok swiftly retreats just as Oh Jaejin casts a spell to immobilize the hobgoblin. A spurt of fire erupts from the tip of the spear, narrowly missing Yi Yook-Ok.

Yi Yook-Ok, in a moment of intense focus, declares, "Take this!" She lunges forward, her spear striking true, and with a single blow, she kills the hobgoblin. “Phew…” She wipes her forehead with the back of her arm. “Check this out, Jay.”

Oh Jaejin, intrigued, inspects the weapon. "I am unsure at first, but there is magic in this weapon…"

"Like a magic weapon?" Yi Yook-Ok questions with a sigh. "The world is just getting more absurd."

Oh Jaejin hands over the weapon to Yi Yook-Ok. "We are definitely improving. As long as I have the element of surprise, I am confident of killing a dozen goblins in a single attack and severely injuring a hobgoblin while at it. How about you, Yuki? Can you feel magic power now?"

Yi Yook-Ok reflects, "I think I almost have a grasp of it, but I will still need time."

In the early days of Outcall, the utilization of magic power was a skill yet to be fully optimized. The practice of arts and the manifestation of gifts are guided by intuition rather than a refined technique. Oh Jaejin stands out as one of those who swiftly adapted to this chaotic era.

With a grim determination in his eyes, Oh Jaejin silently moves towards a window, peering through it to observe the courtyard below. The gathering trolls, now numbering four, loom ominously in the open space. The air is charged with an unspoken tension as Oh Jaejin contemplates his next move, his ability to adapt and strategize becoming paramount in this unpredictable world.
