“As you know, a guild’s database contains various useful information, but you must reach a certain rank to access it.” The professor discussing theory in various related topics continues his discussion while I covertly scroll on my smartwatch.

I am giving the video shorts of Hajin some likes, and also sharing it with my Social Media friends. In terms of socialization, I think of myself as not so bad. While I am at it, I am also farming views on Hajin’s video shorts. This way, I can help boost these shorts and give them a more positive reception.

We only shoot video shorts twice a week about Hajin randomly trying the various luck-related gimmicks around Cube. Funny enough, the viewers think of Hajin’s stunts as scripted. The thing is though… it kind of is… considering Hajin’s pure luck stat that defies reason.

I will be more terrified than surprised if his luck suddenly stops working.

Hajin is not much of a talker in video shorts so I have to do some monologue. Most often, the shorts contain the angry faces of the gimmick owners. It is funny as hell as they try kicking us out.

My camera work is a little bit amateurish, but I am getting there. As a cameraman, my face is not in the video, but if it is, it will defeat the purpose of making Hajin more popular.

“Now, let’s continue after a little break.” The professor announces.

I don’t need to be covert with my smartwatch anymore. I move it out from under the desk and continue scrolling. I am feeling very tempted on posting Hajin’s and Yoenha’s confrontation. It is dirty media, but the buzz it will create will definitely earn Hajin a lot of SP.

Despite not being the one receiving the SP, I cannot help but drool at the thought of using them once I cash in a favor with Hajin. I hope such a thing will come. I will despair if that is not the case. It might make me sound like a pushover, but I think, even if Hajin doesn’t let me benefit from the SP, I think I won’t hold a grudge against him.

Still, the despair…

“Sigh…” I turn off my smartwatch as I return to building my connections. “Hey there fellas, I swear Imm’a beat your ass in the ranking exams or sumthin’, I bet I’ll smack yo~ ass so ez you will be crying turds…” That comes out wronger than I intend it to be.

The accent is most horrible...

Kim Suho facepalms at the sight of Hyon Hyung making friends with his classmates. He can be so erratic sometimes. No. He is always erratic. Despite that, Hyon Hyung has a way of making friends.

After the cussing contest, for some reason, Hyon Hyung is already building an understanding among Jonghak’s friends (Also known as the Shin Jonghak lackeys). The development is so bizarre Suho is starting to question the meaning of life. It is Jonghak's friends and they are infamous for picking fights!

But then.

Shin Jonghak approaches Suho all too suddenly. “Later. Anti-personnel training, spar with me…”

The classroom goes quiet at Shin Jonghak's, Rank 3’s, declaration of challenge. It creates a tense atmosphere that threatens to devour the onlookers. Shin Jonghak’s eyes narrow down with intensity. He crosses his arms, expressing his seriousness about the matter.

Meanwhile, Kim Suho simply returns the provocation by being kind. “Sure,” He smiles and answers with rather easily misunderstood words. “You are really working hard, Jonghak, I will work harder!” He cheers.

“Tsk,” With a hateful glare, Jonghak walks away.

Wednesday’s theory class finally ends, and exactly at 3:00 pm the Anti-personnel Training finally starts.

Shin Jonghak’s back is upright, and his form is intimidating. Lightly twirling his spear, he then enters a combat stance. His silver hair is a stark contrast to Suho’s hair.

They are like black and white, two naturally opposing forces— they are rivals.

I watch them in anticipation. The other Cadets also forgetting their own spars watches the two figures in the center of it all. Even the instructor is accommodating the idleness of the class.

Kim Suho with light steps, draw his sword in a circle and similarly enters his combat stance.

Instructor Kim Soohyuk is in between them serving as the referee so that there will be no accidents. “This is a spontaneous match, so Kim Suho and Shin Jonghak, this will not affect your grades!”

The two main characters both nod at the instructor’s words.

Kim Soohyuk then adds, letting the class hear his voice. “This can also serve as a learning experience. I want an 800-word essay about this fight. Do you understand?”

I hear the groans of my fellow Cadets.

Not bad. I feel like 800 words are too easy.

“Now,” Instructor Kim Soohyuk raises his voice, and with a word, he commences the fight with a wave of his hand. “Ready. Set.”

“Spar!”

The competitive spirit in their eyes burns with eagerness. Jonghak violently thrusts his spear with speed and force. I can hear it swooshing and moving the air despite being part of the audience so I cannot imagine what Suho is experiencing.

Yet, Suho calmly receives it by tilting his sword and fluidly parrying the spear away from him. The collision of their steel makes a crying sound too irritating to the ears, which makes the others flinch.

However, the duelists are unfazed. They continue on their dance of steel. The sword is graceful, flowing, and leaves a mirage in the air. The gleam of Suho’s sword and his magic power are like a light display amidst the night. Each stroke is like stars that twinkle in every strike and recoil. It is beautiful.

Meanwhile, Jonghak’s spear is ruthless and unrelenting. Every thrust and swing leaves sparks in its wake as it collides with its foe. The volatile magic power spiraling from the spear is like a deadly snake threatening to devour its foe from difficult angles. Contrary to the swordsman, the spearman takes advantage of his range.

If Suho is like light piercing through the darkness, then Jonghak is the darkness itself. Jonghak’s lengthy weapon leaves a fan of shadow from where he stands further emphasizing how fast his attacks are.

But Suho’s Magic power is several times superior to Jonghak's. In terms of magic power, Suho wins by a mile. Only Nayun can contend with his magic power.

Despite that, Jonghak is able to stand toe to toe against Suho. Shin Jonghak’s pure talent that comes from his blood is just that superior. His magic power alone is not in any way inferior to the other geniuses in history, which just gives more credit to Suho’s monstrous magic power.

So what Jonghak lacks in magic power, he compensates with his physical abilities and accumulation of his training. Meanwhile, what Suho lacks in physical abilities, he compensates with technique.

Sword and Spear.

In this world, they are famous for their versatility and use. They are the most orthodox weapons that allow many Heroes to thrive and battle the Dungeons. The question is… Which is better of the two? Which weapon deserves to be called the best?

Many Cadets think that it is the Sword as Rank 1 and Rank 2 uses a sword, but Jonghak is reminding everyone right at this moment that the spear is not to be looked down on. After all, Shin Myungchul, the hero of humanity also uses a spear.

“Kim. Suho.” Shin Jonghak threateningly calls Suho while he flashily uses the blunt end of the spear to defend Suho’s abrupt kick to his groin. “Don’t tell me you are still tired. You need a rest?”

Kim Suho simply raises his sword and brings it down.

A wild burst of magic power descends from his sword, and it comes crashing down at Jonghak. “Never been better!” Suho shouts while he pushes his sword to Jonghak.

The sword and spear collide.

Jonghak receives the spear with decisiveness. He extends his magic power to his body and to his spear and with its pole, he receives Suho’s downward swing. With little force, Jonghak deflects the magic power to the side.

The two competitors show a smile of their own. They are both smiling, yet they look so different. Suho’s smile is of utter joy, and Jonghak’s smile is of furious joy. Their hunger for battle burns with fury.

Once more, they throw themselves against each other with abandon.

Kim Suho and Shin Jonghak are not leaving any gaps in their every move. They don’t want to lose. So, they fight and fight and fight… until the space they are using continues to increase. The cadets retreat at their turbulent magic power.

I am speechless. Is this how strong the main cast is? And here I am feeling confident in myself for becoming stronger.

Instructor Kim Soohyuk intervenes on the spar and declares it a draw. Everyone will love to see the end of it, but that will mean someone ending up hurt.

I feel immensely happy right at this moment.

Yes. The future has become tangent from what it should be. Time is going off in a different direction evident in the changes. Still, there are just things that will never change.

The rivalry between Shin Jonghak and Kim Suho is as pure as ever. It just brings a smile to my face.
