“I will protect you!” It is a cringe thing to say, but she means it. Rachel’s sword, Lionheart is a light sword in between a rapier and a long sword.

It resembles more of an epee that noble aristocrats use for dueling. On top of its extravagant appearance, it also is imbued with light attributes. Thus it is one of the few Spirit Swords to ever exist around the world.

“Now, this is unexpected.” Yun Hyuk clenches his fist while demonic magic power gathers from his arm.

This will be a terrible battle, and Rachel just knows it. She tenses her joints preparing to counterattack any moment Yun Hyuk shows a sign of aggression. Yun Hyuk is quite a popular character around Cube and someone that Rachel also hears about more than once.

It is because of his gentlemanly appearance, and handsome face. He is the dream boy of many girls. Rachel doesn’t really know much about romance, and while she harbors some fantasy about it, she is not someone desperate enough to gossip about it.

Still, the fact that she even manages to hear the notoriety surrounding Yun Hyuk speaks of his nefarious reputation— a playboy, possibly a hedonist, and also a true bad boy. Now adding everything that is bad about him on top of this is the Djinn label.

“You are very good at keeping up the perfect pretense, but on the inside, you are just really a disgusting person…” Rachel hatefully remarks.

Yun Hyuk simply shakes his head in disappointment. “I cannot kill you… You are the other person’s quarry…” He mumbles, thinking hard about how he should handle her.

Alas, he cannot even decide on a course of action. Yun Hyuk’s eyes widen in surprise.

Rachel feels her breathing becoming shorter as she sees a hand protruding from her chest. The hand is bloody, and sharp nails protrude from its fingers. Blood spills from her chest, and leaks from her lips. She turns around to Yoenha who seems to be in a daze.

Two horns adorn Yoenha’s head.

Rachel before she loses consciousness presses the little button in her Cadet Uniform, hoping for her desperate call to reach him. Chaotic emotions rumble in her mind until finally, everything turns dark.

“Now, that is a problem…” Yun Hyuk silently gasps at the unforeseen development. “Damn… Lancaster will be pissed. That aside…” Yun Hyuk snaps his finger, and like a spell, it seems to dispel Yoenha’s daze.

Yoenha’s eyes return with clarity, finding blood spilling on her clothes and cheeks. “W-what?” She cannot believe what she is seeing in front of her. “What is happening to me?”

At one moment, she loses control of her body, and like a puppet, she suddenly moves on her own. Yoenha pulls her hand puncturing Rachel’s chest. “This?” Self-denial assails her mind. Rachel flops down on the concrete pavement like a dead fish, her skin is dull with the color of death, and her eyes flickering with the little brilliance it has left.

Yun Hyuk whistles at the meandering sight. “That cannot do… Go back to sleep, Yoo Yoenha…”

The tragedy will only start to proliferate from here. Yun Hyuk casts some sort of spell as Yoenha similarly falls down on the concrete pavement, her eyes come to a close as she falls into an indefinite sleep.

He carries her with care, treating her like a princess. He then stomps on the little phone which Jin Sechan uses to blackmail him. “Truly a pathetic bug… Implanting mental suggestions with him is so easy because he is madly in love with her. But it is unexpected that he is able to form a kind of resistance and even dare to blackmail me…”

The whirring of the helicopter blades starts crying in fury.

But it seems the world will not just leave him be.

Kim Hajin is fighting with all he has. He is confronting a fully transformed Djinn who should be an intermediate rank with a bunch of low-rank lackeys helping him.

If there is something Hajin is confident at, then that will be mass-exterminating his enemies, but against more complicated foes like someone who has impressive individual strength, then he has no dice.

“Human! I will rip off you in half and shove your head in your own ass!” The intermediate-rank Djinn is a juggernaut standing two meters tall and as wide as a rhinoceros. Speaking of a rhinoceros, the Djinn is also sporting one giant horn from its forehead.

Hajin uses his [Parkour] Art to maneuver around the low-rank Djinns and use them as obstacles to give the intermediate rank a hard time. Moreover, since the hallways seem to be too narrow for the Djinn, it just makes Hajin’s job faster.

By this moment, Rachel should be already on Yoenha’s side. He fears the worse might happen to them, but he really doesn’t see Yun Hyuk being as strong as the Djinn he is confronting. It is because that is the way how he writes about that Villain.

Yun Hyuk is the type of cowardly villain who lacks a lot in terms of the combat department.

Even if Hajin takes into account the changes in the strength of the Djinns, Rachel should be able to buy some time… hopefully… The real problem after all is the Devil’s Seed… Kim Hajin feels that the seed should be hiding among the Djinns.

If not, then it can only be hiding in Yoenha. In a sense, securing Yoo Yoenha is of the highest priority. If Kim Hajin is the author and he will reference the original then it is a logical scenario for the plot development to make Yoo Yoenha be the host of the Devil’s Seed.

“Hyon Hyung! Your status?” Hajin shouts at the intercom.

Hyon Hyung shortly answers back. “I am taking the emergency stairs! I am on it!”

***

I climb the cumbersome stairs with precision and speed. I have my enough share of rock climbing from the training grounds, and it looks like I did not pick up a useless skill.

When I arrive at the rooftop where the SOS is coming from, I feel a terrible pang of distress at the spectacle I am witnessing. Yoenha is piercing Rachel’s chest, while blood splatters everywhere.

Yoo Yoenha is not under the right conditions. Her body seems to be under the effects of some sort of mind control. Moreover, a pair of devil horns adorn her head.

I run after them, but Yun Hyuk is faster and closer in proximity to Yoenha. He casually takes Yoenha ought to take her to the helicopter. I hear the whirring blades of the chopper waiting for its passenger so that it can take off.

“Not on my watch!” I throw my Jambiya at the chopper. It is a curved dagger and is not built for throwing. A throwing weapon’s function is to puncture from a distance to inflict damage, but a curved dagger won’t do that.

My Jambiya is for cutting, but the enforced critical damage compensates for it entirely. The curved dagger squarely hits the pilot operating the chopper, thus killing him in one blow. I see my dagger's hilt embedding into the poor pilot's chest until he turns to ash.

I activate [Not Here] and run for it.

Exactly at that moment, convenient support comes out from the door directly connecting from the rooftop. Kim Hajin comes blazing hot with an AK-47 bearing with a lot of bullets at Yun Hyuk.

Hajin’s accuracy is no joke, not one bit does he hit Yoenha. “He is sturdy.” He intones with annoyance. He changes the clip of his AK-47 and unleashes the second barrage of bullets.

Long has Yun Hyuk drop Yoenha because of the pressure of the bullets raining on him.

“What a party!” Yun Hyuk is healing at a rate visible to the naked eye. The way he is healing is beyond ridiculous, and the vitality surging from his blood is so much that he can shrug off most of Hjain’s bullets.

I immediately take action while under the invisibility of [Not Here].

“Where are you going?” To Yun Hyuk’s eyes, Yoenha’s body starts floating. “This rat knows how to run.” He comes leaping at me with superhuman strength, but Hajin is able to react just right in time by transforming his AK-47 into a shotgun. He shoots a slug shell with a light attribute at Yun Hyuk.

The guy is a fucking zombie and he quickly recovers from that. “Hyon! Get the fuck out of here! He has the Devil’s Seed!” Hajin shouts to me while he reloads his shotgun with another shell.

Huh? No way, doesn’t Yoenha have it? I see for myself how she ends up in a semi-devil state when she attacks Rachel, but there is no time for me to second-guess. I dispel my [Not Here] as it is a waste of magic power. After that, I sweep the bloody Rachel on my arm.

I feel like carrying two sacks of rice on my shoulders. I run to the door and make my hasty escape. I only have a single dagger on my person, and on top of that, both of my arms are occupied. I can only run, and not even show a token of resistance at the fugly low-rank Djinns wearing Cube Cadet uniforms on my way.

This is really bad.

Why are Suho and Nayun taking so long!?
