It looks like I am underestimating Nayun’s knowledge of the future. In terms of accuracy and amount of information, Nayuna actually is superior to Hajin and me.

Rachel also knows about the stories of the future-past, so we can talk with each other easily. We talk back and forth about the possibilities of her own power.

“Your power is amazing Rachel, but these unique spirits, this is the first time I am hearing them…” I want to learn about this stuff because who knows, they might become handy in the future.

“From what I know, Spirits are helpers which summoners call upon to battle to help them. There are even mages who have spirits of their own.” Rachel replies.

I ponder on her answer. I think there is really a mage like that. I don’t remember her name, but she is also a loli-type like the Human Dragon Aileen. What is her name again? I should check up on her. From what I recall, she has an OP turtle summon and also has become Evandel’s teacher in the future.

“How about your other Spirits, Rachel? From what I know, you should be able to command other elements, right?” I hope Rachel’s potential has not become limited. The last thing I want is for my allies’ strength to stagnate.

Rachel explains her situation with a serious academic look. “At first, I can move other spirits. However, after contracting two strong spirits, it has become difficult for me to talk with the other spirits. It is difficult to put into words. Fenrir for example has the habit of scaring the other spirits away. Only Sylpheed can stand to Fenrir, thus I only have two spirits to command.”

I again go into my mental space analyzing her every word. Rachel is loved by spirits, this is accurate canon truth. What happens if spirits gathering on Rachel have more pronounced emotions than normal spirits? The answer is they become susceptible to emotions of jealousy. This Fenrir especially sounds like a problematic husky. I wonder what is Sylpheed’s thinking pattern.

“Can I see Sylpheed?” I request Rachel.

“No,” She blatantly responds. “I will win against you in the next rematch.”

I see. Rachel doesn’t want me to see her other cards, hoping to have another rematch in the future. She sure has her priorities straight. In order for Rachel to get stronger faster, it will be nice if she can have more spirits on her command. The way she is now isn’t a problem. Having quality spirits might pay more long term in the future.

Hajin inserts himself into the conversation. “How is it going? Are you okay, Rachel?”

“Yes, thanks for your concern, Hajin-ssi.” Rachel curtly replies.

Hajin uses his [Observation and Reading] which I can almost see happening. I don’t know if it is because of my rising intelligence stat, or some other reason.

“You are good to go, Rachel. Hyon and I have to talk about something, so please excuse us.” Hajin judges that Rachel is all good prompting Rachel to go.

“Yes,” Rachel gives a measured response.

After five minutes and a few more seconds of silence, Hajin breaks off the ice with a few words. “Chameleon Troupe is on us.”

“…”

That earns me a good amount of shock.  That is too fast.

“Do you remember Droon?” Hajin asks.

I respond. “Yeah, he is that kid with an OP alien rabbit, plus a mysterious Gift I don’t even know about... What is up with him?”

Hajin elaborates on the matter. “He sent one of his drones on me. I thankfully am able to detect it and get rid of the thing. I almost led it in here to [Under Cube]. I think the Chameleon Troupe is either on me, on the Goblin, or both.”

“Or maybe it’s just coincidence,” I assure Hajin, trying my best to soothe his worry and battle his paranoia in his stead. “The Chameleon Troupe is nothing but thorough. You may have passed only on their radar because of the waves you are making. I will make sure to tell the others to be on guard, and not to meet here in [Under Cube] anymore. I will set up a private channel for our group. It should be secured enough as a means of communication.”

Hajin gives me a nod of approval. “That’s good, but there is a more alarming problem. It is safe we assume that Chameleon Troupe’s eyes are on me which means I cannot use my Goblin persona while making a deal with them.”

That did not occur to me. If Hajin is being watched, there are risks of the Goblin’s identity being revealed. Who can we substitute with Hajin? Is there someone?

Nayun may be open to the idea, but her fighting style is too obvious on top of her being too famous. Suho is working on creating a new swordsmanship to assimilate into his Sinful persona, but he is not ready yet. Rachel is not ready for her debut yet either for a more obvious reason— she is not at my level yet. Jonghak? Fuck Jonghak.

That leaves me substituting for Hajin, and Hajin seems to understand this too.

“Hyon, you have to meet the Chameleon Troupe as a member of Sinful instead of me as the Goblin.”

“To think that my debut will come earlier with the others. I am not so sure if this can really serve as my debut as this is more clandestine in nature…” I deliberate on the idea. As there is no choice now, it is guaranteed that I will be replacing Hajin in our grand setup of meeting with the Chameleon Troupe.

When it comes to contacting them face to face, it now has fallen on me to adapt to the entire plan. The idea is quite direct that during the Combat Exam, I will have to meet up with the target sneaking Cube and talk to them directly. It should be manageable.

Preferably, I must get the Chameleon Troupe’s Boss to talk to me directly. The idea is to intercept her slinking around Cube facilities and converse with her amidst the number of many civilians. The current Boss of Chameleon Troupe is not exactly a villain but has a more Anti-Hero character template.

Not everyone in Chameleon Troupe is an evil villain who takes joy in murder and sick activities. There are better people too in Chameleon Troupe and that involves the Boss.

“I should be able to do it,” I answer Hajin with unmistakable confidence. With the Djinns scampering around, I don’t see them interfering with the festival, so we can focus on Chameleon Troupe.

Moreover, strategically, it is better for Kim Hajin and the Goblin to lie low. The world’s attention is focused on these two new characters, more so for Hajin who is embroiled with all kinds of incidents.

“I guess, you should get yourself into training then.” Hajin wickedly smiles at me which mistake me not… is sending me chills on my spine. “The time here within the Tower is set slower than the real world. You can consider this floor as a time chamber. Additionally, this place can record and project the fighters’ abilities in this place.”

I fear the next words ought to come from his mouth. Without even hearing it, I already have an inkling as to what he is going to say, and have me do. “Please train until the Combat Exam.”

Hajin turns around maybe in an attempt to hide his emotions. This sick bastard!

“Enjoy your time!” Hajin leaves me on the ground floor with these words while he uncaringly waves his hand as a gesture of farewell. Hajin vanishes in the wind, maybe being summoned to another floor of the Tower to train by himself.

I try mentally going out of the Tower only to be denied the request.

[Please finish the Quest to be let out of the Tower.]

[Quest— Defeat Chae Nayun.]

I silently gulp. I hear a ting of metal, and when I turn around, I see an emotionless projection of Chae Nayun. She is wielding a training sword emanating with pure magic power. “HAJIN! FUCK YOU!”

Why do you have to start with the big guns!?

Through my [Wisdom] Ability of [Witch King], I observe Chae Nayun’s information.

[Chae Nayun’s Clone— Possess 50% power of original Chae Nayun.]

A gigantic broadsword of magic power comes crashing at me using its flat side as a blunt weapon. I feel [Witch King] squirm as an indiscernible barrier covers me before the moment of impact.

“Are you crazy!? This is half of your full power? What the F are you eating?” I hurl insults and praise at the clone, earning nothing but the same dull face. Not even a scowl or a rebuke leaves Nayun’s clone.

I realize a clone might be my worst enemy as they don’t even react to my slightest provocation. This [Tower] will be my hell! I can just imagine it! Ugh… No sooner than a second more, the Nayun Clone swats me with the flat side of her broadsword like I am some annoying mosquito.

I am reduced to bubbles of magic power, and within microseconds, I find myself respawning from the exact same spot where I died. “Oh, come one…” A second swatting comes from Nayun without any delay.
