I tense my calves too aware of my likely fate if I remain complacent. I use to dodge the flat side of the sword which almost crushes me to pieces. As my is limited to a one-meter range, my distance from the elongated and enlarged sword of magic power remains too close to me for my liking.

The big-ass sword approaches me with ferocity. Nayun swings her conjured enormous sword of magic power, aiming to cleave me in half. I doubt this is really 50% of Nayun’s power. I jump high as fast as I can, barely dodging the sword once more.

The last time... Nayun almost took my life, I was still able to react against her. But now, I am barely hanging on. I shouldn’t be too full of myself. It is not only me who is growing. Rachel has shown me that. I should maintain humility, lest my arrogance kills me.

While in mid-air, I analyze any methods I can use to inflict damage on Nayun. I drop lightly to the ground. The moment my toes land, I bolt into a run straight to Nayun.

Swordsmen and Swordswomen have their own methods of long-range fighting. They don’t really use a long-range technique in general, but there are a few who do. For Suho, he can swing his sword so fast and gracefully, that he can summon some kind of aura blade that flies through the air. For Nayun, she simply uses her magic power to shape it into one ridiculously big sword.

I cannot even get past half the distance from Nayun’s maximum giant sword’s length before I am cut into pieces. The next second I wake up from respawning, I realize Nayun has already created a distance from me. The Nayun Clone is not idiotic enough to let me respawn and return to my run to close the distance.

I dodge the big ass sword with alacrity, steadily increasing distance from her. I realize how limited am I in long-range combat. I am at Nayun’s mercy! I must not lose patience. This is a learning process.

I cautiously decrease my distance from Nayun. I want to know how she finished me seconds prior, and as if fulfilling my wishes, she changes her fighting style to the one I wish to see. Her thick magic power rapidly condenses, and in its place is a normal sword’s thickness of about two inches.

Nayun swings the fucking long sword. I cuss inwardly at the unfairness. I duck in my four limbs remaining close to the ground. I don’t want myself being mid-air while being assaulted by that almost whip-like attack. I need to keep in contact with the ground if I want to react as fast as possible.

I recall the laser-pointer people uses in their PowerPoint presentations. It is as if Nayun is wielding something like that except deadlier. I raise my right arm and right leg, and then the other limbs a microsecond later. The moment my right side lands on the ground, I make a roll farther to the side and dash forward on all fours… like a dog.

I see Nayun’s laser-like sword returning and aiming at me once more. I roll more to the right faster than the sword can catch up to me. I bite on my [Wolf Fang] and throw my [Hunter’s Dagger] at Nayun which she reacted by withdrawing her sword to a smaller version, using it to parry my flying [Hunting Dagger].

I see the opportune moment. “One final stretch.” I think to myself. I continue running on all fours, and use [Not Here] to undergo invisibility, while leaving my most believable  in my original place to mislead Nayun.

I flank Nayun from the side while she faces off my . My breathing is short, and I don’t believe I won’t be able to cast another skill that consumes magic power. I grab my [Wolf Fang] and strike at Nayun’s neck with speed and pure physical power.

The result—a clean beheading! My [Wolf Fang] decapitates Nayun in one single motion, her head turning into a burst of light.

“Victory!” I beam at the thought of triumphing against this terrible foe. However, there seems to be something on my chest. It is Nayun’s sword lacking any magic power. At the last second, she is able to counterattack me. “Oh, fuck me…”

After defeating Nayun, I get to rest until my magic power is fully replenished.

Next, I get to spar with Suho’s Clone Projection with 50% power like Nayun. The guy is more manageable than Nayun as Suho’s fighting style is limited to close combat and mid-range. While my deaths when fighting Suho are lesser than Nayun, the effort and time I have to spend are staggering! “Hey, no dodging!”

The guy is a menace. “The fuck? How did you dodge that?” I scowl at the Suho Clone. He can even dodge multiple attacks from my which makes any attack coming from me stealthier and more difficult to evade. Kim Suho is freaking slippery!

“Get rekt!”

I only barely won after expending all of my magic power on casting , an application of my Gift that kills the feeling of one body part. Again, I replenish my magic power in my rest, preparing for my next foe.

The training is insane.

I imagine that Nayun is my worst mismatch, but I have it all wrong. It is fucking Kim Hajin! “Oi! Oi! Time out!” I cry while I flounder and run around, trying my best to outrun Hajin’s bullets.

The Hajin Clone like the others only possesses 50% power like the others, but I am having this illusion that he is stronger than Nayun and Suho. “I said time out!” I yell, but Hajin hears none of it. After dying for the 12th time, I have no choice but to surrender to my fate that this hell won’t end, unless I make a difference.

Hajin is the combination of being annoying Nayun and Suho.

Hajin as a sharpshooter has range just like Nayun. It is expected of Hajin, but range is not simply distance, but also the wide range of perspective. From my bout with Nayun, I understand that she has a scary level of peripheral vision of about 340 degrees, and Hajin is the same!

Then there is Suho’s grace. In Hajin’s case, it is his dexterity! The way Suho is dodging is as if he is dancing. Hajin might not be dancing, but he also has this touch of grace in his every movement. His positioning, precise evasive maneuvers, and he even uses his gun’s recoil to dodge my swing!

The most insulting and depressing of all is the Hajin Clone is only using the Desert Eagle weapon in his arsenal! Kim Hajin is my worst match-up!

I fight to the best of my ability, and finally, a stroke of luck hits me. The Hajin Clone I am fighting at least doesn’t have the original Hajin’s luck. I cast on Hajin’s bullets which ricochets from my dagger, and returns to Hajin. It hits his knee, which I capitalize to close the gap so that I can strike Hajin down.

I am filled with glee the moment my dagger finally reaches Hajin. “VIIIICTORY! TAKE THAT FUCKER!” I flip a middle finger at the air, telling Hajin if he is watching that I finally beat half of him. “He he he! I only need to beat half of you a second time more, and I would have won already!” I boast.

But.

I just have to jinx it.

Kim Hajin respawns after my victory dance. A new quest from the Tower pops up in front of me. I use the [Wisdom] Ability of [Witch King] and see the new Kim Hajin’s strength in front of me to have 60% power of the original.

“H-Hajin… I am just kidding… man…”

It looks like I really have to learn how to parry a bullet this time.

Meanwhile, Kim Hajin is actually ignorant of a certain Hyon Hyung’s plight.

Hajin reloads his gun as he darts around on the battlefield. He tries to recreate certain Devils from Nayun’s memories, and now he, Suho, and Nayun are training on how to overpower a Devil in combat.

The Devil they are fighting is a random Devil brigand from the Great Devil War. It is only a grunt, yet it possesses a power that cows even Hajin. Suho is able to manage as he is capable of cutting concepts. Nayun meanwhile is hanging on in experience.

“It might be a Devil brigand, but I recall that this one is among the higher-level Devils… Do we continue experimenting? I want to fight something stronger…” Nayun comments, betraying her initial difficulty. Her sword vibrates with magic power.

At first, it is a little bit difficult as Hajin and Suho lack experience in fighting something of an actual Devil’s level. However, they're able to accrue enough experience in a short period of time to get used to it, fast.

With their combined assault, they can easily overwhelm a Devil grunt. “I wanted to try fighting the weaker ones to use as a template… But I guess it really is more productive if we fight something stronger.” Hajin recalls when they tried fighting a recollection of Morax.

The three of them are easily squashed, still, that is much better than bullying a Devil grunt.

“I just want you guys to be reminded that the Devils we are fighting here are a projection so they are weaker than the original. If we want a challenge, then why don’t we try fighting Baal’s projection?” Hajin suggests.

“Let’s do it.” Suho excitedly comments. His sword has a slight hue of black which is closer to grey. Ash illusorily dances around his sword, replacing the usual glittering stars his every swing leaves.

Kim Suho has divided his current swordsmanship into two. The first one is centered on his original sword style embodying the ideals of a Hero which is called [Dawn], and the other is a sword style revolving around Devil Slaying which is called[Dusk].

“Much obliged.” Hajin shortly replies. He mentally commands the Tower to summon Baal’s Projection from the Great Devil War, from Nayun’s memories to which now Hajin shares.
