Child (3)

It was already half past ten in the evening when they left the hotel.

The cold wind blew in with the smell of seawater, and the chill seeped into her bones. Xu Pinyu brushed away the stray hair that was blown onto her face by the wind.

The car lights flashed past her eyes, and she stepped up.

When she sat in the passenger seat, Xu Pinyu was still considering whether or not she should explain to Shen Youbai.

But she was worried that Shen Youbai would think that a hug was just a matter of the size of a sesame seed, and that if she explained it, it would be like saying that there’s no three hundred taels of silver here1.

Thinking back to Zhou Qitang’s triumphant smile, she mentally stabbed countless needles into the little person representing Zhou Qitang.

He was really her ancestor, the ancestor that will remain unchanged forever.

The car was quiet, but there was only the radio host of the evening channel chattering away.

When she first got in the car, she noticed that Shen Youbai’s coat was thrown on the back seat, and he was wearing a dark gray sweater.

He was gripping the steering wheel. His sleeves were folded on his forearms, and on his beautiful wrist, he wore a watch.

The passing night scenery turned into light and shadows flowing from the dial.

“I’m working the night shift tomorrow.” Xu Pinyu’s voice was caught in the chatter and laughter of the radio program.

He had said that when she had time, she could move out. Maybe it could be put on the agenda.

Shen Youbai glanced at her through the rearview mirror, then shifted his gaze back to the road ahead.

No response, driving into the tunnel.

Vaulted ceiling, cold blue light.

Leaving the tunnel, he still didn’t respond.

Xu Pinyu bit her lip lightly.

Thirty minutes later, the car stopped downstairs at her apartment.

Xu Pinyu’s hand touched the car door, then turned to him and said, “I’ll go up then.”

Shen Youbai’s gaze was clear and cold. He lowered his head to find the cigarette box and shook out a cigarette, dabbing it between his lips.

He used his hand to shield the wind and lit it.

When Xu Pinyu turned her head and got out of the car, she said, “Goodnight.”

The car door closed, and a gust of wind blew by.

Shen Youbai raised his eyes and looked through the car window where she left in the mist and smoke.

He watched the lights in the corridor light up one by one.

And as they turned off one by one, he started the car engine.

Early winter morning. She lifted up the covers and stepped on the floor with her bare feet, raising goose bumps on her legs.

When she was a student, Xu Pinyu loved to sleep in. But after she started working, she had to force herself to get up early.

Today’s evening shift meant that she shouldn’t have gotten up so early, but she was in a bad mood and almost lost sleep.

When the doorbell rang, Xu Pinyu had just finished her shower.

Twisting the faucet tightly, she hurriedly dried herself with a towel, not putting on her underwear, but putting on her robe.

She ran to the door, leaving a trail of watermarks on the wooden floor behind her.

Seeing the person through the peephole, Xu Pinyu turned the safety lock and opened the door.

Shen Youbai saw that her hair was slightly wet and her fair skin was stained with water vapor, looking like she had just taken a shower.

Water droplets slid from her neck into her collarbone, and Xu Pinyu tightened her robe.

She closed the door, not knowing how to react for a moment, and pushed Shen Youbai to sit down.

“You sit, I’ll pour you a cup of hot water.” Xu Pinyu said as she headed towards the kitchen.

Shen Youbai’s eyes swept around, but then fixed on her, and said, “You didn’t pack.”

Xu Pinyu slightly froze, “Ah?”

Then she suddenly realized and said, “I thought we were temporarily putting off the moving thing.”

Shen Youbai frowned, “Why.”

Xu Pinyu smiled bitterly, “Aren’t we in a cold war?”

He denied it, “Are we?”

She asked back, “No?”

Xu Pinyu pursed her lips, “You might as well have written on your face, ‘I don’t want to talk to you,’ in big letters.”

“How can that be.”

Shen Youbai answered quickly and decisively, his brow furrowing even tighter.

She said unwillingly and aggrievedly, “I saw your expression in my eyes, that’s it.”

Shen Youbai took a deep breath and stared at her.

When he was about to speak, Xu Pinyu walked up to him first and squatted down.

Xu Pinyu looked at him, shaking her head and saying, “I’m not good at cold wars. I can’t pretend it doesn’t hurt or bother me, or be more indifferent than you.”

The cold white sunlight cast on her face through the glass window behind the sofa.

Her eyelashes closed and lifted with a distinctive clarity, “It’s okay if you don’t want to talk to me all the time, I’ll try my hardest to please you. But, I’ll be sad.”

Shen Youbai slowly parted his lips and after a while, softly said, “I’m sorry.”

Xu Pinyu was stunned, not expecting him to apologize, and so straightforwardly.

She smiled and lowered her head, pulling Shen Youbai’s hand.

His hand was as slender and well-proportioned as his figure, with smooth lines.

Her five fingers intertwined with Shen Youbai’s, her tone lingering, “I miss you…”

“Since last night, until now,” Xu Pinyu said.

She released his fingers and held his hand back and wrist in both hands.

The clean and fair fingertips had a hint of pink.

Her soft lips kissed them one by one.

Starting from the thumb, index finger, middle finger, ring finger, little finger, and finally tenderly reached the palm.

Her breath and the warmth from her mouth concentrated in the palm of his hand.

Shen Youbai didn’t hear it, but felt her eager eyes saying, “Can you help me?”

Xu Pinyu let his palm caress her face, “I want Shen Youbai inside me.”

The warmth pressed against her skin.

She looked at him like this and said, “I’ve been thinking about it all night.”

As soon as she finished speaking, the hand on her cheek suddenly lifted her face and chin.

Shen Youbai leaned forward and lowered his head to kiss her lips.

His tongue intruded into her mouth, arrogantly plundering, biting her upper lip, passionately entangled.

Wanton, gentle; two extremes attacking.

Like wet, cold snow melting in her mouth.

When she squatted in front of him, Shen Youbai could no longer remember the reason for his apology.

Dust floated in the air, her hair strands distinct, and her clear pupils looked at him.

He only wanted to know what color her skin was under the overlapping robes.

Shen Youbai pulled up her arm, flipped over, and pressed her down on the sofa.

Xu Pinyu cuddled up to him and felt the palm of his hand easily come to the inner side of her thigh.

He was greedily stroking the smooth skin there.

He kissed her neck, pulled the robe off her shoulders, and sucked on her shoulder blades.

Xu Pinyu raised her legs and stepped on the edge of the sofa, but his hand didn’t move towards her private area, retreating instead.

Without any time to wonder, he grabbed the opening of Xu Pinyu’s robe with both hands and peeled it off to the side.

The sofa blocked the cold light, and the color of her breasts could not be seen in the shadow, but the delicate skin made his palms linger again and again.
