Zhou Qitang x Lu Yin Extra: Jealousy (1)

Winter was a dreadful season, bleak and chilling.

It was already half dark when the last bell rang.

Class K, which should have been empty in an instant, was crowded in front of the window, including Xu Pinyu.

They were all staring in the same direction.

Two white and blue police cars were parked at the school entrance, and the red light on the roof of the car flashed in the depressing winter night.

When Zhou Qitang appeared in full view of the public with his hands covered by a jacket, there were gasps of surprise around him.

Xu Pinyu’s breath hitched. She opened the window and poked out half of her body, trying to see more clearly.

The cold wind poured in, as if someone’s crying echoed in her ears.

Two uniformed police officers brought Zhou Qitang into the car’s back seat.

Immediately following, the head teacher supported a frail girl out of the teaching building.

After seeing the girl’s face, Xu Pinyu was stunned. The people around her were chattering, saying something to each other.

“Isn’t that from Class A…”

“I think her name is Lu Yin.”

Lu Yin’s beautiful face now looked pale like a pixelated image, and her eyes were very red.

She always reminded Xu Pinyu of the beauties in the photo studios during the Republican Era.

Several faculty members were in front of the school gate to maintain the current chaotic scene, and the classroom radios were broadcasting for all students to leave the school through the side door, causing flurry of discussion.

Only Lu Yin stood still, seemingly isolated from the world, quietly watching the police cars drive away.

Until her parents drove over.

When Lu Yin saw her mother, Meng Peiwen, get out of the car, she subtly furrowed her brow.

Meng Peiwen quickly walked up and embraced her, sobbing softly.

This look of feeling very sorry for her daughter gave Lu Yin, who was in her arms, the chills down her spine.

When Lu Yin was nine years old, Meng Peiwen brought Lu Yin with her and married He Yong, a man with a high official background.

Later, Meng Peiwen gave birth to Lu Yin’s half-brother, He Zifei.

They were a family with a loving mother and filial children, blissful and harmonious, envied by others.

Back in the gorgeously decorated house, tentatively named as their home.

In the living room, He Yong sat on the sofa with his arms crossed, showing no emotions.

Meng Peiwen’s face had been unpleasant since she got into the car, and now she looked even worse.

She turned around, faced Lu Yin, and raised her hand then fiercely dropped it hard.

The slap on Lu Yin’s face made a particularly crisp sound.

Lu Yin tilted her head. A white light flashed before her eyes, and her right ear buzzed.

Meng Peiwen narrowed her eyes and glared at her, “What did you call the police for?”

She pursed her lips and felt the burning pain on her face.

Meng Peiwen grabbed her hair, and Lu Yin let out a scream.

“I’ve worked so hard to cultivate you, let you eat well and clothe you well. I’ve also spent time and effort, even money, to hire someone to teach you to play the piano, all for what? Isn’t it to pave the way for your father’s official career through marriage! Now it’s all ruined by you, and it’s made such a big fuss that everyone knows about it.”

Meng Peiwen’s eyes looked as if she wanted to eat her, “What other high-class family will still be interested in you in the future?”

She let go of Lu Yin’s hair and poked her head, “It’s not good to be ruined by anyone, but of all people it had to be Zhou Qitang!”

Meng Peiwen pushed her shoulder so hard that Lu Yin lost her balance and fell to the ground.

At this moment, a voice came from the entrance, “Mom!”

He Zifei threw down his schoolbag and ran over to help Lu Yin up, asking worriedly, “Sis1, are you all right…”

Lu Yin pursed her lips and shook her head, then she heard Meng Peiwen pointing at her and scolding her, “Go back to your room. Don’t come out until I tell you to!”

He Zifei, who was beside her, wanted to argue on her behalf, but was held down by Lu Yin. She didn’t say a word and walked towards the stairs.

Before going upstairs, Lu Yin glanced back at He Yong on the sofa.

He Yong had been staring at her with a look that only Lu Yin could detect, a look that was explicit and indecent.

It gave her the creeps and made her sick to her stomach.

When Lu Yin returned to her room, she locked the door behind her, and then locked the bathroom door before she took a shower.

Even with the pain in her lower body, she didn’t dare to stay naked for too long. She had a shadow in her heart, coming from her stepfather.

With her hair blow-dried halfway, she sat at the desk and opened her book, but couldn’t read a word, and listened to the ticking of the clock.

She didn’t know how much time had passed.

Suddenly, there was a rattling sound. Lu Yin turned her head to look at the window.

There was another thud, and something hit the window glass.

She went to the window, pulled open the light gauze curtain, and saw a figure standing outside the shade of the tree.

Lu Yin opened the window.

In the early hours of the morning, in the darkness and silence of the room, the eye of the lock on the doorknob turned.

There was a soft creaking sound from the door frame. He Yong stood in front of her room door and peered inside through the several centimeter wide gap.

Surprisingly, no one was there.

He narrowed his eyes, flashed with cruelty, and slowly closed the door.

Recently, in addition to Shen Youbai’s sudden departure to study abroad, the most sensational thing was the sexual assault incident that happened in the academy.

Although the teachers remained silent about this matter, almost everyone knew who the two protagonists of the incident were.

Moreover, it was said that Zhou Qitang hadn’t been sanctioned at all.

The reason for this was simple. The Zhou family was one of the three great families in the north, and his father was a dignitary. It took less than a cup of tea for him to get out of the police station.

A few days later, someone even saw Zhou Qitang at an infamous public school, confirming the rumours.

The biggest victim of this heinous incident was undoubtedly Lu Yin.

Schools could be both sacred and dirty.

When all those unpleasant gossips were inflicted on her, Lu Yin was more at ease than ever before.

She believed that it wouldn’t take long to get rid of Meng Peiwen, whom she hated, and He Yong, whom she feared.

She believed in Zhou Qitang.

She couldn’t remember in which season she first met him, but Lu Yin’s favorite season was autumn.

The acacia trees planted along the road reached the entrance of the school. The wind always swept up the fallen leaves and whistled low in the sky.

Lu Yin was late. She heard the footsteps of someone approaching behind her and turned back.

Zhou Qitang took a big step forward, and before she could react, he grabbed the strap of her school bag on her shoulder and dragged her to the side.

Only when they were behind the wall, some distance from the school gate, did Lu Yin come back to her senses.

Zhou Qitang said, “I’m going to distract them first, you sneak in quietly.”

Lu Yin pulled up her schoolbag and walked past him, “…No need.”

She wrote down her name and walked into the campus without looking back.

Zhou Qitang smiled and said, “Willful.”

Lu Yin had to admit that Zhou Qitang was born extremely good-looking, including dyeing his hair according to his mood and having countless earrings.

Some people’s flamboyance was feigned, but his was an unruly spirit that seeped out from the cracks of his bones.

Like a man carrying a solitary lamp in the middle of a wilderness.

Before entering the classroom, she almost collided with Qin Ran who was walking out.

Qin Ran had his head lowered and didn’t see her, so the papers in his hand scattered all over the ground in an instant.

Lu Yin knelt down to help him pick it up, and what she saw was a resume.

They both stood up one after another, and Qin Ran said, “Thanks.”

It was only after she entered the class and sat down that she remembered that the student union seemed to be looking for an assistant to the president recently.

It’s a tough job with no benefits, but so many girls were flocking into it…

She glanced at the direction of Shen Youbai’s seat and lightly shook her head.

Lu Yin retracted her gaze, turned her head, and was slightly surprised by the sudden appearance of a girl in front of her.

Ran Meng was oblivious to her reaction and said to Lu Yin, “The freshman welcoming festival is coming up, and we want to rehearse the play, but…”

She looked at Lu Yin with shining eyes, and with some anticipation, she said, “But we’re lacking a script.”

To be honest, she didn’t like the idea of trouble coming to her at all.

Lu Yin lowered her eyes for half a second, then smiled and said, “Okay, it will probably take a few days.”

Ran Meng laughed, “It’s okay, no rush.”

There were three piano rooms on the sixth floor of the teaching building, and as long as you applied, you could arrange the time to use them.

Lu Yin had signed up for the year-end level exam, so she had to practice harder starting today.

However, the piano rooms were on the other side of the building.

She didn’t understand why she passed through this floor.

So much so, that she happened to see Zhou Qitang.

He was leaning against the window, his smoky grey hair especially visible in the light. When the wind blew, he squinted his eyes and rubbed them again.

An unruly nature was also freedom.

Zhou Qitang felt the gaze on him and turned his head.

He saw Lu Yin and smiled.

But she couldn’t tell what she felt when she was facing Zhou Qitang.

He was such a free spirit, such an unbridled person.

It made her feel a little bit of inexplicable resentment, and a lot of jealousy.
