A Bad Premonition?

Zhao Yufei couldn't help but click her tongue.

"You really know how to goad people into trouble, you cunning evildoer."

Zhao Yufei found Zhao Wei's ideas quite outrageous but then she remembered the rules of the Sky Guards Battalion.

It was like a contained jungle where geniuses were brought together to compete for high treatment and the best resources. One had to fight for themselves and strive to step on others to climb further.

Logically speaking, Zhao Wei's words weren't essentially wrong. She was a young lady and there was no way in hell, she was gonna sleep in those worn-out hole-filled tents. They could hardly do their job of giving her the privacy and warmth she deserved.

Zhao Yufei, despite her gentle innate nature, also had her pride but pride without the necessary strength to back it up was just utterly useless.

If she wanted to take one of the wooden rooms already occupied by the established geniuses of the Sky Guards Battalion, Zhao Yufei would have to do it herself with her own fists!

But… she was hesitant to do what Zhao Wei had recommended. She didn't know anything about those who resided in those wooden rooms.

Zhao Yufei didn't want to pursue recklessness without prior thinking.

As if sensing what she was worrying about, Zhao Wei nodded in satisfaction.

"You are hesitating because you don't know anything about your enemy, right?" Zhao Wei asked the obvious.

"Of course, I am not that stupid to pick a fight with just anyone, especially, in a new environment that I barely know anything about ." Zhao Yufei scoffed lightly.

"Don't worry about all that. I believe that there are youths inside those wooden rooms that you can handle quite well." Zhao Wei directly spoke words of encouragement.

"If you are curious about my unusual confidence, then I will tell you what makes me so sure of your capabilities."

"I am listening." Zhao Yufei frowned but curiosity got the better part of her.

Zhao Wei smiled mysteriously.

"I heard some random talks from some of the guys here and I managed to compile vital information for us."

"How did you-" Zhao Yufei wanted to ask something but Zhao Wei raised his index finger to stop her.

"My hearing skills are quite good, you better believe me on that or just take it as me being one step ahead." Zhao Wei said blandly.

"Hmm, okay." Zhao Yufei nodded lightly with a tight-lipped smile on her face.

She looked funny and cute.

"The original owners of the wooden rooms are hailed as the Ten Sky Guards - the top ten most outstanding individuals in the Sky Guards Battalion, that is." Zhao Wei slowly explained although he knew that the knowledge he had was due to his special status as a transmigrator that gave him an edge in terms of information.

But that in itself didn't make him all-knowing since Zhao Wei knew that he could be fucked over at any moment. That was a problem that most of the transmigrators and time travelers had to face - the consequences of a timeline intrusion.

"The one staying in the tenth wooden room is a formidable peak Fifth Rank cultivator, I can sense it. Aren't you a genius with almost no rivals in the same stage, eh Yufei?" Zhao Wei grabbed his chin as if thinking about something.

"You… sigh, I don't know what to say anymore." Zhao Yufei exhaled heavily.

"Even though we stem from the same environment, I find your words hardly believable." Zhao Yufei was naturally doubtful of that piece of information.

Yes, she could be said to be a genius that was almost unrivaled in the same realm but that was logically only applicable back when she was in Sun Feather City.

Zhao Yufei didn't want to believe that things would stay the same in the Sky Guards Battalion as that would be somehow an underestimation.

She had learned quite a few important things from Zhao Wei, though nonsensical at times, he could be dependable if he was in a good mood.

Over the past months of their interaction, Zhao Yufei had grasped the 'supreme knowledge' from the man himself or as he sometimes liked to call himself when he was drunk, the "Dao Progenitor".

One of the teachings she had received was to never 100% believe whatever came from the mouth of anyone, regardless of their racial identity, be it human or beast. And that also applied to people that were quite close to you. Whilst some lies were good and harmless, some were disastrous and could lead to your own demise.

So Zhao Wei had been practically implying that she couldn't fully trust his words even though they were 'friends'. She had to mull it over before making her final decision instead of blindly following what came from his mouth.

Zhao Yufei really found his peculiarities a magnet for her inner womanly curiosity.

And unknown to her, Zhao Wei had long ago found this fact quite realistic even on Earth.

Women.

Women subconsciously sought adventure, unpredictability, and the bad kind of men like how a fly likes buzzing around a piece of shit.

Zhao Wei understood that he wasn't exactly Prince Charming but a dark prince who preferred to wallow in solitude inside the confines of a ghastly tall castle.

He had slight Machiavellian tendencies whether he liked it or not.

Deep inside of him, did he really consider Zhao Yufei as a 'friend'? Or was it something else entirely?

Yes, he had wanted to shave away some of his boredom but could there be more to it?

"I will try kicking someone out of their room after eating some food. Gosh, I am famished." Finally, Zhao Yufei arrived at a decision after realizing the inevitability of her current circumstances.

She had to challenge someone. The tenth wooden room was going to be her target.

"Oh, good. I like your guts." Zhao Wei gave her a thumbs-up.

"But…" Zhao Wei wanted to add something but stopped himself.

"But what?" Zhao Yufei gave him an expectant gaze.

"You will see for yourself." Zhao Wei smiled mysteriously.

A few moments later,

"You are a monster!" Zhao Yufei had a disgusted expression on her face as her little tongue lolled out of her mouth as if she wanted to vomit. Her words came out almost incoherent.

The other youths who were present at the cafeteria cast interesting gazes in Zhao Yufei's direction.

"She better get used to it."

"Sky Guards Battalion don't have princesses."

"You get such a treatment regardless of your looks or gender."

"In eating shit, we are equal haha."

"That's some nasty way of wording it, haha."

"It's a pity that I won't ever have the chance to show off in front of the beauty since I eat the same shit she eats."

"Look at that guy, he hasn't glanced at his plate even once. He is truly lucky."

"He's holding back his own laughter after witnessing his companion's reaction. What a Chad."

"I feel angry just remembering how I suffered like an idiot during my newbie days."

"Oh, shut it. I don't wanna remember that hellish experience!"

Back at the two Zhao Youths,

"You somehow knew something about the food but you didn't tell me anything, you villain!" Zhao Yufei's small frame trembled in anger and shame at being indirectly tricked. The little finger she had pointed at Zhao Wei continuously didn't waver.

"Hmph, am I supposed to warn you about everything?" Zhao Wei retorted with a calm expression on his face. His voice was regretless.

"Aren't we friends?!" Zhao Yufei clenched her teeth tightly as she spoke in hushed breaths.

"Friends with benefits!" Zhao Wei mirrored her way of speaking with a whisper.

"Ugh, I don't wanna puke blood because of you!" Zhao Yufei cursed out at him.

"I would love to see that!"

"I am never touching this type of food ever again!" Zhao Yufei proclaimed in determination as she slowly rose from her seat.

"It seems I would have to do 'that'."

"Go for it, princess. I am rooting for you." Zhao Wei flashed her a bright smile as he comically flexed his bicep to support her.

Zhao Yufei shook her head with a helpless smile plastered on her face despite it all.

"You are not forgiven, just so you know."

'I am feeling sleepy. Now which poor soul should I honor my presence with?' Zhao Wei thought with a light yawn escaping his mouth as he lazily walked toward the ten wooden huts.

Zhao Yufei silently walked beside him.

She seemed to be lost in her own thoughts, probably thinking about what she was going to do.

'Weird, why do I have a bad feeling all of a sudden? As if something bad is soon going to happen to me.' Zhao Wei almost stopped in his tracks when a faint premonition suddenly washed over his senses.

It was so sudden that he didn't know what to think.

What was going on?
