Liwei finally stood tall in front of Li Xiqing and Shao Yan.
Shao Yan had thought of this moment many times in her life. What would she do if Liwei is finally standing in front of her? What would be the first word to say? How would her expression be? Who would be with her?

Shao Yan slightly squeezed their linked hands, and then took a deep breath. With a calm face, she raised her chin and finally said, "Hello, Liwei."

Liwei did not think that Yan Yan would want to talk to him. He was ready for rejection or maybe even a slap. So, her polite reply actually brought a surprise for him.
He was stunned for a while to see her calm attitude, as if meeting an old acquaintance.
He quickly collected himself, "How are you? What a coincidence to see you here!"
Ever since he decided to talk to her, Liwei always had his eyes trained on her, and ignored everyone else around her. "How long has it been? Two years? Three?" He kept trying to engage her in conversation.
On the other hand, Shao Yan tried her best to stay calm.
During their first few months of separation, this guy did not even show remorse or guilt for having betrayed her. She had cried, and even broken down.
And she had slowly healed and nursed herself to accept a new love. Everything between them was already in the past. She had moved on. So there was no reason for them to be friendly anymore.
She very much wanted to just step away and ignore his existence. And just be a cordial two strangers in life.
However, on account of their previous friendship, Shao Yan still decided to be polite.
With a polite smile pasted on her face, she answered, "I'm doing great, thank you for asking," and then Shao Yan tugged her hands, and slightly pulled Li Xiqing over to her, "this is my boyfriend."
And this was the first time the two men officially met each other.

Her short hair was dyed. Her face was slimmer and glowed with happiness. She looked more mature and elegant.
She was very cheerful, always teasing the guy who was holding the cart for her. They argued over which snacks to buy, and she would cling onto his arm like a child every now and then. Her face would light up when she sees the food that she likes. Or when the man joked around with her.
The only feature that he recognized was her smile. Her smile was so stunning when the man next to her brushed away the strands of hair that were covering her forehead. That same embarrassed, shy smile, was the same smile he remembered her to be.
Liwei had never felt a feeling of bitterness and disappointment from looking at the scene.
Who was this woman? She looked so similar to Yan Yan, and yet... so different.

"I should be honored then," Liwei replied, "I hope you are only hearing about the good stuff."

"The infamous son in law of Kanagawa Industries, Charles Fu Liwei. The foreigner that has been trying to climb the Japanese society ladder," he cocked his head to the side and smirked, "of course, many have heard about you. Although I can't guarantee whether it's good or bad."
