Around the same time. Somewhere inside a penthouse in downtown area.

Stiletto hoes were thrown all over the corner as she sulked and sat on the bed.

"Now, explain," she crossed both arms in front of her chest, and puffed angrily, "don't you dare treating me as a fool."

Charles, who just entered the bedroom, heaved a sigh as he loosened up his tie. He walked to the bathroom through a narrow walkway in between the bedroom, "There's nothing to talk about."

Helen sprung up immediately and followed closely behind him, "Do you think I'm blind? I saw the way you looked at her, alright?" She pointed her fingers outward, "and THAT was not nothing!"

And then with one hand, she held onto his upper arm, and turned him around, "Look at me in the eye, and tell me honestly."

Charles had his patience drained by the time he turned around. He pulled his arm away roughly; wanting to shake her hold off of him.

"That's enough! I had enough of your unreasonable jealousy," he said as he towered in front of Helen, "I am still here and I stay with you despite all of the emotional and verbal abuses I got from you. What else do you want now?" he roared at her.

When he shook her off, Helen was taken aback; she stepped backwards and almost fell down.

As she was stabilizing herself, Helen was speechless to see this much emotion from the man that had been sleeping next to her for the past three years.

'Who is this stranger in front of me,' she lamented pitifully.

"I don't care what you're doing all this time, but do not question me many times over things that I have answered you. You got that?"

And after he finished saying that, Charles walked to the bathroom and started to unbutton his shirt.

Helen leaned dejectedly on the wall as both of her fists clenched.

.....

Around the same time. Somewhere inside a shikumen apartment fifteen minutes from downtown.

Karl just stepped inside his apartment, and he took off his jacket immediately. As he closed the door, he heaved a long sigh and leaned back on the door.

'What a night! Damn you, Daniel, not leaving a single of dignity left for me!' he cursed as he remembered their last game before they left the driving range.

He took off his shoes, and then changed to house slippers and started to walk inside.

Daniel had rented this apartment for him and Martin to stay whenever they were in town so they did not have to stay in a hotel anymore. It was an old shikumen building that had been converted to a modern apartment living space; while also maintaining some of the old traditional architecture intact.

Karl walked to the kitchen and open the refrigerator. From inside, he took out a can of beer, and then closed the door back.

He took a light steps towards the balcony as he popped the can open.

The can of beer was put on top of a wooden table, and then Karl opened the balcony doors. The sliding doors were painted in deep dark moss green. Made of wood, and carved in ancient Chinese style, this was his most favorite area in the whole house.

Karl slowly slid the doors opened, and the air of Shanghai at night quickly wafted in and filled the room.

He took a seat on the deep red cushion chair by the balcony. Karl had seen this chair in Daniel's apartment before, and he fell in love at the first sitting. So he had harassed Daniel to let him get the same one but in different colors.

The chair had a diamond stitches tufted pattern all over the back, with silver nail-head trim all over the sides from the arms, the legs and the back.

As he leaned back, and sipped on his beer, Karl had his mind replayed all of the things that had happened today.

Especially on the beautiful maiden that had occupied his heart since day one.

'Tell me what to do, Risa? How should I mend this broken heart?' he thought inwardly; unconsciously, he lifted one hand and placed it on his chest, and lightly massaged a spot on top of his heart.

'This place had been so painful ever since I saw you the first time, love.'

.....

Around the same time. Somewhere inside a modern apartment for about thirty minutes from downtown.

Beautiful jazz music was playing in the background when she stepped into the house.

"I'm home," Risa said as she took off her shoes and walked inside. The lights on the living room were all turned on, as she walked around the house to the kitchen.

"You won't believe what happened today, dear," she started to say and she picked up a water jug, "Yan Yan finally confronted her past. And I am so proud of her."

Risa sipped the water slowly, as she continued to say, "That man! Ugh! How can there be such a shameless man like him exist in this world! Grandma would have been angered to death if they were still together."

She picked up the glass of water and walked into the living room.

Risa sat on the couch and crossed her legs, as she picked up the remote and turned off the music, "Let me watch some news, alright? I'll return your music later," and then she started to pick some news channels to watch.

"You also have to meet Daniel and Karl one day. I'm sure you guys would have become such good friends," as she finished her last word, her throat felt so constricted, and Risa started to choke.

She lifted her chin, looked up and bit her lower lip; trying to hold her tears from falling down as she tried to breathe from her mouth. Her eyes started to water, and her lips started to tremble.

Risa could not hold it in as memories started to flood her mind.

She decided to give up to the feelings that had started to overwhelm her. Risa dropped her head down; with both hands covering her face, she started to sob in sorrow.
