Li Xiqing was really upset as he listened to the two men talking about his woman in front of him.
The more he listened, the angrier he felt. He just wanted to punch the living out of the two of them.
Li Xiqing thought that he would be the one who landed the first hit when Liwei was insulting Yan Yan. But to his surprise, this surname Zhong had thrown his fist and landed perfectly on the bastard's face.
When Liwei hit the table, and knocked down the glasses and plates around him, Li Xiqing reflexively pulled Yan Yan to his side, and hid her body behind him to avoid the shards.
For a moment, Li Xiqing forgot about his surging rage inside of him; all he was thinking that time was to shield Yan Yan from the sharp objects that were flying around.
When things had quieted down, Li Xiqing turned around, and began to check her arms and legs, to see if she was hurt.
"Are you alright? Did any of the glass hit you?" He stretched her arms to check on her exposed skin, and then he was about to bend down to start checking on her bare legs.
Shao Yan quickly tapped on his shoulder, "I'm fine, we were a little far away, don't worry."
Li Xiqing was about to say something when he heard a roar of anger behind him. The man who was down, Liwei, had gotten up on his feet, and immediately loomed over the surname Zhong and started to yell.
"You hit your best friend?? All for the sake of a woman that does not even know you exist?"
Li Xiqing was about to walk towards them, when Shao Yan pulled his arm and shook her head; and then she calmly walked in front of him instead.
"I know he exists. And I think he's a better human being than you are."

Zhong Yu was surprised to see Shao Yan standing in front of him.
'How much did she hear,' he wondered, 'and what is she thinking right now?'
He was watching her every expression. Shao Yan was very upset. Her face was gloomy as she glared at Liwei.
Shao Yan kept a good distance from the two of them as she started to say.
"Are you not embarrassed at yourself? Flaunting how you have wronged Zhong Yu and I very proudly?"
Her voice was calm and collected. But for those who knew her, they knew that Shao Yan was beyond angry. Her voice was very cold and menacing.
She was addressing her question to Liwei who was also surprised to see her sudden appearance by their side. Liwei stared at her for a while. He had to break off his stare when he noticed that Li Xiqing had his hand wrapped around her waist and pulled her slightly closer to him.
Liwei scoffed as he took out his handkerchief. He then raised one hand and wiped off his bloodied lips.
"I was only telling the truth. Besides, did I not actually help him? In the end, I still delivered the letters to the rightful owner, did I not?" he said as he began to dust off his pants.
"And also, Yan Yan, just admit it, we were never happy together. You stayed because you had no one to turn to. You don't have any family or friends around."
Liwei raised up his head and inserted both of his hands into his pants pocket.
"And I stayed because I needed to get away from my suffocating parents," and then he shrugged as he slowly said, "It's a win-win for both of us. We don't have to make a big deal out of it."

Li Xiqing could barely hold in his wrath. He was about to grab Liwei and strike him, but Shao Yan held him back, and again shook her head.
Liwei saw the fury in Li Xiqing's eyes and how Shao Yan had stopped him.
He raised one eyebrow as he snickered, "Besides, you have found a loyal dog here next to you. You should actually thank me instead, Yan Yan." And then he burst out laughing.
Just when he stopped laughing, he saw a glimpse of a swaying hand.
!! PLAKK !!
A palm stroke his cheek and five fingers landed on his face. A crisp sound of strong slap rang out through the silent surroundings.
His eyes went round in surprise. Liwei looked up in astonishment when he realized that Shao Yan had slapped him in the face.
"Y-Yan.."
"Do not call my name with your filthy mouth," Shao Yan cut him off.
"You insulted me, and then you insulted my man. I will never forgive you," she said curtly.
"I have never said anything about all of your affairs when we were still married. Never once have I speak badly of your name to others. And this is how you repay me?"
"We are done, Fu Liwei, do not appear in front of me anymore. You make me sick."
Shao Yan stood tall in front of the guests, and said all of her thoughts in a bright, clear voice. She did not tremble or stutter at all.
Once she was done, Shao Yan paused for a few seconds to make sure everyone heard what she said just now.
From the corner of her eyes, she saw Feifei had appeared and stood in front of the patio door.
Shao Yan turned around and then linked her hand around Li Xiqing's arm, and the two of them walked away.
When she finally saw Feifei, Shao Yan was about to say something, when Li Xiqing suddenly smiled politely at her, and said, "Feifei, my apologies, we will take our leave now. Please let me compensate for all of the damages here."
Feifei could not think of any words to say; she could only nod her head.
"Oh. You two.. Uh.. Drive safe."
Shao Yan smiled at her and then she glanced at Li Xiqing before the two of them continued walking to the indoor area.

Once she had walked past the door, her hands started to tremble. Li Xiqing took one of her hands, and held her close to his embrace, as he whispered, "Just a little more. We are almost there."
Shao Yan let out a weak smile at him, but she still nodded her agreement.
"Yan Yan?" Risa rose up from her seat when she saw Shao Yan and Li Xiqing. She anxiously walked over, "What happened?"
Risa looked at her pale face, and then threw her angry face at Li Xiqing, "Daniel? What's going on?"
Shao Yan patted Risa on her arm, "Don't raise any alarm, Sis, I'm fine. Don't let Grandma worry," she whispered to her.
