Chapter 211: Waking Up With You

The two lovebirds ended up talking the whole night.
Shao Yan was too tired from all the meetings that she had been having for the whole day. She was slouching down the long sofa by the lounge area, while listening to Li Xiqing telling her about his day in the university.
She had taken her shoes off, and put both legs up and crossed them on top of the sofa as she leaned back in comfort.
"... and so, our secretary was dumbfounded, how come all the food was missing so fast?"
"Uh huh. And then?"
"So Michael, my roommate at the time, suddenly stood up and yelled out 'Yeah! I took them, so what?' very loudly."
"Uh huh."
"Apparently, he had been trying to catch up on the studies, but he was too embarrassed to ask for help. So, he had been missing every night, hiding in the laundry room, and reading all those books while everyone was asleep."
"Hmm."
"And because he was hungry, he had been using the pennies to buy all the food from the vending machine and ate them."
"Oh!"
"You know how we would only restock the vending machine every once in a week?"
"Yeah?"
"So, that's why everyone was dumbfounded, who has been eating those snacks. We actually thought maybe someone broke into our dormitory," and then he chuckled.
While listening to his deep voice rang melodiously in her ears, Shao Yan tried so hard to stifle her yawn, but it still escaped her mouth as she replied, "Yeah."
Li Xiqing paused for a while, before he said very softly, "Did I bore you with my story?"
Shao Yan tried to snuggle deeper on the sofa. With one hand, she pulled her cardigan tighter to her body, "No, I'm just very tired."
She sighed softly, "It has been a long day, that's all. I'm sorry."

On the other side of the phone, Li Xiqing had also positioned himself on his own sofa in his office room.
He untied his collar, and laying down while talking to Yan Yan.
"Why say sorry, you're fine," he said as he chuckled again.
He placed the phone to the other side of his ear, and then raised his wrist to glance at the time.
"So, what are you doing now?"
Shao Yan did not respond for a while, before he heard her sleepy voice from the receiver, "Just.. Uh.. Laying on the sofa, while cursing on the weather," and then she continued in a sulk, "I just want to go home."
Li Xiqing got up from the sofa, and walked to the window. He peeked at the rain outside, "You know what? Yan Yan, I think the rain is lighter now, I will leave shortly and pick you up, alright? Wait for me downstairs. I will be there in fifteen minutes."
Shao Yan stayed quiet as she glanced at the window. She did notice that the rain did not go as crazy as before anymore.
"En, be careful, alright? Don't rush. I will be fine," she said, before she raised her body up from the chaise lounge chair to put on her shoes, "I'll get ready now. See you."
"Alright, I'll see you soon."
And then he hung up the call.

When Li Xiqing arrived at the front of her office building, it was exactly fifteen minutes later.
The road was practically empty as it was already almost two o'clock in the morning, and it was still raining.
He parked the car right in front of the lobby, and got out of the car.
Li Xiqing briskly crossed the front lobby to the elevator area, but he paused his steps immediately when he spotted Yan Yan who was already sitting at the lobby downstairs.
She was leaning on the sofa; one hand was placed on the arm rest as it supported her head.
Li Xiqing smiled as he knew Yan Yan must have fallen asleep.
He treaded his steps softly to her side. Taking her laptop bag and swung it across his body, he then slowly reached out to her to carry her to the car.
As he successfully placed her in his embrace, Li Xiqing felt amused that Shao Yan did not stir even a bit. Upon recognizing his cologne, she even somehow positioned herself to snuggle deeper inside his hold.
Li Xiqing glanced down at her sleeping face; letting out a soft, tender smile on his face.

"En? You're here?" Her sleepy voice suddenly swiped his cheek. He felt Shao Yan stirred lightly trying to look at her surroundings.
Shao Yan had opened her eyes just as Li Xiqing stopped in front of the car to open the passenger door.
"En, we will go home now. Hold me tighter, I need to open the car door."
Shao Yan obediently clung both arms around his neck as he carried her princess style. When he felt her hold on him was getting tighter, he carefully opened the door and placed her on the passenger seat.
He leaned the seat a little to the back so she could continue her sleep in comfort.
Before he closed the door, Li Xiqing reached out one hand to brush the top of her head, "Go back to sleep now."
Shao Yan could not open her eyes anymore. She let out a smile, and nodded weakly.
Li Xiqing closed the door gently, and walked around the car to the driver seat.
Once he was seated, he reached out to her side, and put on the seat belt around her.
Once he was convinced that she was secured safely, Li Xiqing started the car; and the two of them began their drive to go home.

The birds were chirping loudly when Shao Yan woke up the next day.
A slender arm popped out from the blanket and started to search around the side table to locate her phone.
She opened her eyes, and squinted immediately when she saw how bright it was outside.
Shao Yan felt one arm was holding around her waist, she glanced to the side, and saw Li Xiqing started to stir in his sleep. She quickly turned her head back around and continued her hunt for her mobile phone.
Li Xiqing buried his head on her back when he felt Shao Yan was moving around. Just right when her hand managed to hold on to her mobile phone, she felt his strong arm pulled her slightly to go back to his embrace.
Shao Yan yelped in surprise. Her fingers managed to turn off the alarm and his hand tightened his hold around her.
And then she heard his sexy, sleepy voice by her ears, "What time is it?"
"It is eight, and it is time to wake up now. I am so late," Shao Yan tried to wriggle herself out of his embrace.
But instead of letting loose, Li Xiqing tightened his arms and buried his face in her hair.
"Nu uh, I don't think so, sleeping princess. Let's go back to sleep again," he countered drowsily in a deep, husky voice.
Shao Yan burst out in laughter when she heard him calling her 'Sleeping Princess'.
"Then," she started to say to him, "my prince, you should wake up now. Remember, you have a country to run."
She raised one finger and started to poke him in his cheek.

Shao Yan yelped in surprise. Her fingers managed to turn off the alarm and his hand tightened his hold around her.
And then she heard his sexy, sleepy voice by her ears, "What time is it?"
"It is eight, and it is time to wake up now. I am so late," Shao Yan tried to wriggle herself out of his embrace.
But instead of letting loose, Li Xiqing tightened his arms and buried his face in her hair.
"Nu uh, I don't think so, sleeping princess. Let's go back to sleep again," he countered drowsily in a deep, husky voice.
Shao Yan burst out in laughter when she heard him calling her 'Sleeping Princess'.
"Then," she started to say to him, "my prince, you should wake up now. Remember, you have a country to run."
She raised one finger and started to poke him in his cheek.
