Chapter 212: Morning Dew

"Welcome, I hope you enjoy the party tonight."
She passed a ribbon with numbers sewn on it to the guests, "Please tie it around your wrist, this is for the door prize after the countdown," and then with her hand swiped to the side, Shao Yan directed the guests to the hall entrance, "this way, please."
Another girl had stood by the hall entrance, and with the same gesture, she welcomed the guests to enter the hall.
Shao Yan was the project manager for this event, technically she did not have to do just one task, but had to oversee everything. But one of the girls that had been assigned to the front desk had become ill and there was no other backup. So, Yan Yan had offered to take the place for a few hours.
The storm from last night had cleared up around five in the morning. The grass was glistening with the fresh morning dew.
When Shao Yan arrived at the office at nine o'clock, the sun was already shining so bright; bringing a gust of energy to the team for the party tonight. They came into the conference room to their final checklist in a good mood.
The team decided to carpool in a few cars and had arrived at the museum after lunch time.
Everyone was in high spirits and quickly transformed into the most hardworking ant to get ready for the five o'clock welcome party.

Just as Shao Yan was about to greet the next guest, her mobile phone suddenly rang.
She glanced at the phone on the table, before she quickly excused herself to pick it up.
"Hello?"
"I am leaving the office now, sorry, I did not get the chance to change yet. I will do it when I'm there," Li Xiqing was walking to his car as he talked to Shao Yan, "are you hungry? Do you need me to bring you anything?"
Shao Yan glanced at her wrist. The last time she ate was ten o'clock in the morning. If Li Xiqing had not mentioned anything about food, she would not have remembered it.
She whispered softly, "Uh, maybe some meat bun and milk? That should be enough for me," Shao Yan was standing with her back facing the front desk, "I need to go now, I am in charge to welcome the guests and it is already very busy now."
He quickly replied, "Alright, I will be there soon," and then he hung up the call.
Shao Yan put the phone back in her dress pocket, and continued to greet the guests.
Around forty minutes later, the suave man with his strong, long legs sauntered in from the outside. One hand was holding onto a garment bag that was swung by his shoulder. The other hand was holding on to a paper bag in his embrace like a precious baby.
With eyes that were holding hostage to everyone who crossed contact with him, Li Xiqing approached the front desk with utmost confidence.
He flashed his charming smile at the petite woman in white, flower dress, and said, "You look amazing tonight."

As the last word fell, multiple pairs of eyes shifted to his direction. Confronted by a very handsome face in front of them, the girls that were in charge at the front desk lost their words and had a blank stare on their face.
Shao Yan raised her head up to return his gaze, before noticing it was Li Xiqing and then she slowly smiled.
"You're here?" She saw the garment bag by his shoulder, and then she pointed to the east wing of the building, "The restroom is over there. After you get changed, come back here to register, alright?"
Li Xiqing nodded, and handed her a paper bag, "Take a fifteen minute break, and pad your tummy with this first," and then he swiped his stare to everyone on the other side of the table from left to right.
"My apologies, everyone, Yan Yan has a very sensitive stomach, that is why she has to eat a little first. I also bought enough food for everyone to share," Li Xiqing said as he pointed to the paper bag that was now sitting in front of Yan Yan.
All the ladies could feel that their faces have started to blush. They nodded with a bashful smile as they stared at Li Xiqing's back when he walked away.
A few ladies that were standing next to Yan Yan started to poke her arm and teased her.
"Xiao Yan, your face is so red right now. He seldom praises you, doesn't he?" and then the girl started to giggle.
Another girl chimed in, "Xiao Yan, better start locking your man away, he is too handsome for his own good."
"Miss Yan, your man is fifteen out of ten! He is so amazing ah!" Before she released a stifled squeal with another girl.
Shao Yan feigned anger as she glared at all of them before she said, "Come here, now, let's eat something first. We will take turns so the front desk is not empty, alright?"
One girl nodded, "Miss Yan, you go ahead and eat first. If Daniel came back and you are still standing here, all of us will face his wrath! I am too scared ah.."
Shao Yan smiled at her pitiful looking face, before she nodded reluctantly, "Alright, three of us will take a break first. And then the four of you will take a break after fifteen minutes."

Li Xiqing came back to the front desk exactly fifteen minutes later. He had changed into the suit for tonight, and he had put the garment bag back into the car.
When he noticed that Yan Yan was not at the front desk anymore, Li Xiqing started to search around for her.
He found her and two other girls were walking from the bamboo trees area towards the front desk again. Li Xiqing started to walk over as well.
Shao Yan had just arrived back at the front desk when she saw Li Xiqing was approaching.
She flashed a smile, and decided to tease, "So handsome, are you still single?"
Li Xiqing decided to put on a dark platinum suit tonight. He had white windowpane shirt on the inside, with a silver vest and dark grey tie.
With a smirk, he slowly approached the front desk and stood in front of her.
He had decided to put on the reading glasses today, so Li Xiqing looked extremely preppy and smart looking tonight.
Shao Yan pursed her lips when Li Xiqing caught her teasing words.
"I am not single, and my date tonight is stunningly beautiful; I can't look away," he said as he stared intently into her eyes.
