"I have been worried about you since that day, Xiao Yan."

Her eyes were looking down at the crowd downstairs; both of her hands were holding the handrail in front of her. Her fingers wrapped around it and her knuckles turned white; Shao Yan could see that she was nervous.

"I don't know how Liwei managed to come to the party, but you have to know that I did not invite him at all."

Shao Yan was about to say something when Feifei suddenly looked at her.

"Your boyfriend came back a few days after that," Feifei paused as she bit her lower lip, "He wrote me a cheque to help with redecorating the patio."

She quickly added, "I refused the cheque right away."

"I feel bad to accept his help, Xiao Yan, can you please talk to him to accept the money back?"

Shao Yan patted her shoulder and started to console her, "Feifei, I cannot help you with this one. You have to accept his gesture."

She smiled before continuing, "Besides, both of us really like your cakes and pastries, and we definitely love your patio. So, we really want to see it back to being all pretty again."

A soft, romantic song by a famous Chinese musician started playing in the background and the Master of Ceremony for the event walked up to the stage and began his opening speech.

Gold Crane Publications had invited their Top Romance Authors to come to today's event.

Shao Yan saw that her team was spread all around the floor; making sure everything ran smoothly.

"Are you going to stay here until the event is finished?" Feifei asked in curiosity. Her eyes were scanning the guests and admiring the decoration of the stage and the whole event.

"En," Shao Yan nodded, "Luckily, It's a short event today."

She glanced at Feifei, "What about you? Where are you guys going after this?"

....

"Well," Feifei took out her phone and scrolled through her screen, "My idiot brother thought that it would be funny for me to attend a matchmaking party, so he registered one for me."

She pouted as she flipped her phone around and showed Shao Yan.

It was an advertisement for the party. Anyone who was single between the age of 20 and above was allowed to attend. There was no dress code or anything similar; each participant only needed to pay an entrance fee and pay their own meal.

Shao Yan pursed her lips, trying to hold in her laughter.

"And of course he had to say this out loud in front of our mother," She continued her rants, "So now, she is all excited about me no longer being single."

She crossed her arms in front of her; Feifei pouted, "So later, while I am going to be stuck among these strangers that I don't even like, Lu Qian, that idiot is going to spend his day with Liwei."

She paused after she finished her words; as if she just realized that she had said something wrong.

Slowly, Feifei released her crossed arms, "Uh," and started to stutter, "Sorry, Xiao Yan, I don't mean to mention his name again."

"It's just..."

Feifei twisted her fingers anxiously as she thought of the words she was about to say, "Liwei, he..."

"He..." Feifei looked up while hesitating, "Left his home and now is living alone in one of our apartments."

Shao Yan blinked in surprise.

Seeing that she was not saying anything, Feifei slowly continued, "Lu Qian told me, supposedly, he had a huge fight with his wife, and then he left in anger."

"No clothes, nothing else with him other than his wallet. He called Lu Qian in the middle of the night; asking him to go for drinks."

"And that's when my brother found out. So ..." She glanced at Shao Yan, "He offered one of our empty apartments for him to stay while they sort things out."

....

Shao Yan stayed silent the whole time.

For Liwei to leave his wife was something that was not surprising to Shao Yan. But this was related to his rich wife; she found it hard to believe that he left by his own choice. Shao Yan had a little suspicion that maybe his wife actually chased him out in anger.

"But Xiao Yan," Feifei suddenly lowered her voice, "I heard that his wife was trying to sue your company?"

Shao Yan glanced back at her, her eyebrows were raised in surprise, "How did you know?"

Feifei hesitated, "I heard from Lu Qian, that there is this video that has been circulating around like wildfire."

"It was at your office lobby, Helen - his wife, standing tall in front of many men in suits..." Feifei clicked through her phone again; trying to find the video she was talking about, "Hold on, let me find it for you."

After a while, Feifei suddenly exclaimed, "Ah! Here it is!"

She shoved her phone to Shao Yan and clicked the play button.

Shao Yan took a glance, and recognized the video immediately.

It was from the meeting in their office a few months ago. Helen brought several men to the company to negotiate about her terms with Risa and Gold Crane Publications.

That day was also the first time Li Xiqing and Liwei met each other at her building lobby.

The video started to play.

....

"What was that?" Helen wrapped her hand around Liwei's upper arm.

Her perfectly manicured fingernails dug deep into his muscles, "Is that her? Your so-called ex-wife?"

Her shrill voice was heard so loud and clear here. Shao Yan furrowed her eyebrows when she detected a disgust when Helen mentioned 'ex-wife'.

Helen tried to shake Liwei by his arm to get his attention, but he did not respond to her calling. On the other hand, Liwei had his sight glued to the direction of the elevator to the underground parking garage.

Shao Yan suspected that this happened after she and Li Xiqing left with Risa and Karl to go play some golf.

"Is that why you were so adamant about taking over this company?" Helen raised her voice and started to press him for an answer, "Because she is here?"

Shao Yan could see that Helen was getting more anxious and angry. She slapped her hand on his arm again and started to yell at him, "Answer me, you asshole!"

All of a sudden, Shao Yan heard a cough coming from the men behind Helen and then she saw that Helen started to look around the room in panic.

Her eyes were nervous to see that many people were now staring at them. They whispered with each other and started to point at the commotion.

And then the video was zoomed in closer. Helen raised her chin up, and then started to speak in a low tone, while hissing back at Liwei, "Let's go now. We'll talk in the car."

The audience of this video could hear that Helen gritted her teeth, trying to suppress her anger.

And then Shao Yan saw the video was zoomed out again to normal size.

Helen made a dramatic move of flipping her long, wavy hair to the back and started to walk away; leaving Liwei and his scowl mood behind. The men in black suits started to walk behind her; and then the video ended there.
