Shao Yan noticed her choking voice.

The woman in front of her was looking like an abandoned little bunny.

Her expression and voice showed that she had treasured this box so much; she was not willing to let it go. But yet she had to do it anyway.

Shao Yan looked down at her own tea cup.

'What an interesting person,' She thought to herself.

Her eyes were running through the French style of white and blue flower decorations along the edges of the cup.

The corner of her lips was slightly curved.

Shao Yan raised her delicate fingers, and picked the cup up. With both hands, she wrapped them around the cup while waiting for Vivian to continue.

Her fingers were still wrapped around the red maroon velvet box. Her eyes were glued to it. She looked morose and alone.

"I hope you can help me to return this to him."

After Vivian finished saying that, her fingers were still lingering around the box. Her thumb slowly caressed the edges of the box, as if she was hurting to be parted away.

Slowly, she finally let go and Vivian leaned back to her seat.

"Yan Yan," She paused dramatically, "May I call you Yan Yan?"

"I hope you don't misunderstand," Vivian hurriedly continued, "Everything between Danny and I were already in the past."

"I can see that he is much happier now with you," Vivian glanced away, out the window, "And I am glad he is not hurting anymore."

...….

Shao Yan was holding the cup with both of her hands; and throughout the whole time, she had never let go off her gaze from the woman in front of her. Somehow, her every expression, her every manner, was very interesting to Shao Yan.

Vivian picked up her purse, and started to rummage through its content, and then she took out a facial tissue paper and started to dab her nose.

The sun was shining at the pearls; made it glitter and sparkle so beautifully.

Shao Yan looked at the purse; her eyes were tracing the pink hue and rainbows; they were indeed so pretty.

An inexplicable sense of happiness and sadness at the same time, suddenly swept her heart.

She stopped her gaze at the crown on the top of the purse and focused on the green gem around the crown.

Shao Yan stared for a while when many different scenes were running through her head. It was like a scene in the movie; when all the flashbacks and memories suddenly came to her.

'She is really interesting.'

...….

"Vivian."

Shao Yan suddenly said and slowly placed the cup back on the table.

Her eyes were fixed on the cup, "Why don't you let me....," Shao Yan paused to find a good word to say.

She glanced up, "Why don't you let me tell you a little bit of the story about myself?"

She tilted her head slightly, as if she was asking Vivian a question. But both of them knew that it was a statement.

"When I first met Xiqing, I thought he was the most amazing man I have ever seen," Her thoughts went back to their first meeting at the cafe in her office building.

"At the time, I was not looking for love at all. I was deeply hurt before and I was completely happy being alone," Shao Yan let out a small smile as she reminisced, "I was perfectly ready to never fall in love again."

She placed an elbow on the table and supported her chin on top of her palm.

"But this man, who I thought was the most perfect man in the world, is willing to stay and even pours a hundred percent of himself to be with me."

She held her stare against Vivian, "And his trust in me was exactly why I was willing to give this relationship a shot."

'What is she trying to say?' Vivian thought to herself as she blinked in confusion, 'Is she showing off their lovey dovey relationship now?'

As if she just read her mind, Shao Yan smiled.

Gradually, her lips curved into a genuine happy smile, "When I first met him, it was only about a year ago."

Her eyes were revealing a glint of light; as if she just found a huge secret.

"Or so I thought."

...….

"A few years ago, my life hit a rock bottom when I left my ex-husband."

Vivian blinked in surprise. She would have never guessed that Shao Yan was married before.

"I was living in New York with him until he had an affair behind my back, and so I decided to move to the other end of the country to stay away from him," Shao Yan started to tell her story.

"I was staying with a friend in San Francisco, and it was difficult for me to find a job when my life had just turned upside down."

She paused as she could feel that her mood turned gloomy.

"I was basically trying to pick myself up from having broken apart."

Her fingers were tracing the corner of the tea cup saucer, "So, I was willing to work any job to distract myself; and at the same time earned me something."

Shao Yan looked out of the window, towards the blue sky. Her eyes were following the dancing white clouds.

The bright sky quickly chased her darkness away.

....

"That day was practically a very bad day for me."

Shao Yan slowly continued, "My lawyer had just come back to tell me that my ex-husband had signed the divorce papers; no questions asked."

She still remembered that day, it was bright and sunny just like this.

Shao Yan shook her head, "My heart was broken, and our years of relationship was so trivial for him, that I felt I was not worth anything at all."

She looked down at her cup and let out soft chuckles.

"I was sulking the whole day and refused to do anything when my friend asked me to go to her boutique to help out."

Shao Yan looked up into Vivian's eyes, "It was a sunny day like this, and she figured everyone would be out and about so she needed me to hand out flyers to promote her clothing shop by The Pier."

...….

Shao Yan slowly continued, "I was minding my own business that day, handing out flyers to the tourists at The Pier. The weather was nice, the seals were singing happily and everyone was out there enjoying the sun after so many cold days."

"When suddenly, a bunch of teenagers thought it would be funny to make fun of a petite Asian woman like myself to make their day better."

Shao Yan looked at Vivian. Her expressions shifted a couple of times when Shao Yan was telling her story.

She went from confusion to judgmental, to more confusion.

And finally now, she showed a surprised look on her face; as if she just realized something.

Shao Yan saw Vivian linked her fingers together as she listened. She twisted them so hard, her knuckles turned white.

"When one of the guys started to touch my arm, I was ready to scream and call the police," Shao Yan continued, "When all of a sudden, a man walked over to my rescue and yelled at them; he chased them away."

Vivian had her mouth opened in surprise. The realization dawned on her.

She remembered this scene.

This was the very last moment she saw Daniel before he turned his back on her.

She raised one hand slowly and placed it over her mouth; soft gasps of surprise escaped her trembling lips.

'This can't be happening,' Vivian thought to herself.

'That woman can't be her!'
