Their blissful days continued to the next few days after that.

Since Father Li and Mother Li were visiting soon, Mandy had been dragging Shao Yan around to accompany her shopping.

"You know, Yan Yan," Mandy linked her arm around hers, "Usually, Qing Qing was very stingy in allowing me to kidnap you." She scrunched her eyebrows together as she was trying to remember.

Mandy shook her arm, "But he is in a very good mood the past few days."

"You guys are very happily in love, huh?" She smirked at Shao Yan, causing her cheek to blush in embarrassment.

Shao Yan feigned a pout, "Sis, stop teasing me already."

The two of them had been spending more time together lately. Shao Yan got to know more of her personality, and she was becoming more comfortable to joke, sulk or even pout around Mandy.

Mandy laughed at her shy looking face.

"Yan Yan, what do you think of this one?" She said as her thumb, along with index and middle fingers were feeling a texture of a cloth in her hands.

Today, Mandy was on a mission to buy new curtains for her parents' apartment. Even though they would be staying in Shanghai for about two weeks, Mandy thought that new curtains would be a good way to welcome them. She wanted to replace the old curtains to a new one to cheer the mood up.

Shao Yan also reached out and touched the material in her hands.

"En," she nodded in agreement, "very soft."

And then Shao Yan looked up at Mandy, "Are you planning to combine this sheer material with the jacquard we found earlier?"

Mandy grinned and then patted Shao Yan on her shoulder, "Smart!"

----------

"We'll start off with some samosas and your broccoli besani, please."

Mandy flipped the menu in her hands, and continued, "Definitely half chicken tandoori," she looked up at the woman who was standing next to her table, "While we are waiting for that to be grilled, of course we have to have the saag paneer," she paused as she was reading through the options, "Oh! And also an order of chicken butter masala."

The waitress nodded and keyed in her order in the tablet in her hands swiftly.

"I like garlic naan, Yan Yan, what about you?"

Mandy glanced at her while Shao Yan was still deciding on what to add to their order. She nodded, "En, me too."

Mandy nodded as well, "Then, two baskets of garlic naan, add some mango achar on the side, please."

Shao Yan was reading the description of the items that Mandy had mentioned, "En, sis, the pickle does sound appetizing," she agreed.

Mandy smiled at her acknowledgement, "We will also have some mutton biryani and also some malai kofta."

"Any drinks, miss?"

Mandy looked up again, "Yan Yan, do you want to add more to the food order?"

Shao Yan closed the menu book and shook her head, "No, you have ordered everything I wanted," and then Shao Yan looked at the waiter, "Masala Chai for me, please."

Mandy nodded along at her words and closed the menu in her hands as well, "I'll have the mango lassi," and then she handed the menu back to the waitress, "That will be all. We will also order some desserts but that will be later, thank you."

Shao Yan was trying to remember the items that Mandy had just ordered. Some items were new for her and she had never tried them before. And as she thought about them, her mouth started to water. She picked up a glass of water to have a sip, she could not wait and was excited to try them.

----------

"Do you think we ordered too much, sis?"

Their drinks had just arrived, and Shao Yan was stirring into her cup and she glanced up to see Mandy was happily drinking the mango lassi in front of her.

"Not at all," her fingers were playing with the straw in front of her, "If there are any leftovers, we can always pack them home, don't worry."

"Anyway, Yan Yan, what were you saying about Lunar New Year?"

Shao Yan put down the cup in her hands after having a small sip. The tea was not too hot for her, and she could smell the spices that warmed her; making her mood to be more lifted than before.

"Oh!" She suddenly remembered, "That's right!"

"So, sis, Grandma is inviting everyone to have Lunar New Year meals together at our family tea house."

"So Grandma was asking me to check if anyone has any food allergies or anything that they don't eat."

Mandy tilted her head to the side as she pursed her lips to think, "I don't think so."

"They can eat anything, but Mother likes vegetables more than meat, and Father prefers tofu over meat as well."

Shao Yan nodded, "Alright, I know, I'll let Grandma know about it as well."

Mandy smiled, "En, thank you, Yan Yan."

She was about to continue but she saw a few waiters were walking over to their table with two plates on each of their hands.

"Oh!" She exclaimed, "Finally, the foods are here, I'm starving."

The fragrance of the spices around them was even more heightened when the dishes were placed on the table. Colorful plates were arranged neatly with the final touch of a small jar of mango pickle on the side.

After they were done, the waiters left without leaving another word behind.

Mandy saw that another item was missing, and she lifted up her head; about to call them back when she saw another waiter come over with two small rattan bowls in his hand.

"Garlic naan," he said as he placed the bowls on the table, "Your order should all be here, except for the Tandoori chicken, it will be another fifteen minutes."

Without waiting for Mandy to say anything, he swiftly walked away.

Mandy clapped both of her palms together, "Let's dig in, Yan Yan," she passed a bowl of the naan to Shao Yan, "They smell so good, I really can't wait."

----------

The two ladies started to eat with gusto while talking about all sorts of topics.

They started with commenting on how the food was, and how the decoration of the place was so pleasing to the eyes. Joyful yet calming sitar music was playing in the background to entertain the diners over their meals.

And then they went to talk about Axel and his trip in Singapore.

Now, they were back to talking about the upcoming Lunar New Year celebration.

"Any dress codes?"

Shao Yan shook her head, her fingers were tearing the naan in her hands, "To be honest, I don't know. This will be my first celebration with Grandma and Risa."

She put the naan that she had dipped in sauce into her mouth, and the burst of curry flavor started to spread through her taste buds.

"But I believe it should still be the red and gold colors as usual," Shao Yan paused to chew more, "Grandma is also a fan of traditional clothes, so I know she would be wearing Qipao."

Shao Yan continued, "That's why this time, I especially bought Xiqing new clothes."

She started to grin; her eyes sparkled mischievously, "Sis, have you ever seen Xiqing in a Changshan traditional clothing?"
